Loma is far better than Kambosos. Him "struggling" with Ortiz means nothing, because he came from a long layoff and was a little rusty.
Loma will come in much better shape for next fight.
I wonder if Haney will be negatively affected his next fight at 135. He looked his best in the Kam rematch, but you know making 135 is killing him
Another solid point. Haney could do the same thing we saw with Shakur in his last fight- lose belts on scales but wins fight.
Haney is exactly the same height and reach as Commey, who I never thought Loma would dominate.
When I first heard that Arum was pitting Loma with Richard, I thought this old man must have decided to abandon the Vasiliy ship. I later learned that Loma was actually thankful he was getting Commey for his comeback fight.
Haney is too big for the weight. He looked unhealthy at the Kambosos weigh in.
Lomo is too small at the weight. He's never looked right at the weight.
Its an intriguing matchup and one where each boxers ability to actually make the weight comfortably probably plays a big role in the winner.
This is my assessment as well. Loma was best at 130, Haney is big at 135 and will likely move up by end of 2023. Haney wouldn’t be the biggest puncher Loma faced, which would help him, but Haney has good footwork and knows how to manage the distance between him and his opponents. When he can’t, he clinches. Loma would have an easier time with Tank, Garcia, and Shakur.
I don’t think so. I still think Haney wins but That said this imo is the worst case situation for Haney.
Loma looked bad, arguably lost, against an extremely weak opponent because of ring rust. But he dug deep late.
The look on loma’s face when the ref raised his arm told us a lot.
Loma will surely be much better his next fight. He will make up for this performance. Haney better be ready.

I think Ortiz was better than expected and Loma had a huge layoff. With that said he’s way to small and his style has been figured out to an extent, even Ortiz was time his movements. Haney is prime with a massive size advantage and will be correctly favored.
Teo beat Loma and people claimed Loma was injured that is why he started late in fight. When in reality he was just wary of Teos power.
Look at Salido and Ortiz last night. Again 2nd half is where he picked the pace up. So Teo fight injury was just an excuse. People just need to admit Loma is great but not this unbeatable fighter some of you make out. Teo beat him fairly.
Haney got all the crafty defensive tools to beat Lomachenko. That's all he needs to retain his titles. The hugging alone would quickly reach the12th round in no time to win by pitty-pat victory .
No horse in the race but Haney beats Loma.. Everything is in Haney's favor, height, reach, age.
Style wise Haney's style also give Loma troubles.. Loma is not a big puncher, his volume has gone down.. I just don't see what he can do to get to the younger, bigger Haney..

Well, all these fighters that adopt extreme weight draining techniques. For awhile they may benefit, but eventually it will destroy their performance.
TeoFimo Lopez was beaten by Kambosos Junior due to the long term effects of making the weight surfacing.
Haney is nearing that point, when he will have to move up to 140 pounds to maintain his current form etc.
The lower weight classes for me, are not really pure competition. All these points you are bringing up, is why the Heavyweight Division is the best division in terms of pure competition 'No catch weights, no weight draining culture, just two fighters preparing 100%'.
I would have agreed with you prior to last night but I’m not sure he does now tbh. Loma’s athleticism has definitely declined and it exposes his lack of natural size at 135. I think Haney jabs and grabs his way to a decision win.

Yes I can see, after Loma beats him, the excuse will be that Haney was drained.
If he doesn`t feel comfortable, he is in the wrong weight division.
The excuse is there for both. But truth is, they both agree, so it doesn't matter.
Haney is too big for the weight. He looked unhealthy at the Kambosos weigh in.

I completely agree. I also think that this performance likely secured the Haney fight because if he had obliterated Ortiz like he did Nakatani, then it would have probably forced Haney to move up to 140. Now we likely get this fight.
Also, it's apparent to me that Ortiz is more athletic than Haney. He's far more active and aggressive. I've never seen Haney come like Ortiz did with both Loma and Herring. If you watch that Herring fight, which I did the night before, I had an "oh shit moment." When I first watched it, I wasn't paying that much attention, not like I did the other night, and Ortiz put on a clinic with Herring. You'd be hard pressed to find a round to give Herring. No wonder why he retired after that fight.
The problem with being older is that lack of activity in the ring is like a death sentence. You have to keep fighting or else the ring rust is much more noticeable than it is when a guy is in his 20s. I think it has something to do with the body slowing down in a man's 30s.
I also realized that this is a great "get ready fight" for Haney. I think this is why Loma took it because Ortiz is a great athlete, has arguably as fast a jab as Haney and, unlike Haney, can fight on the inside as well as on the outside. I think this was a great fight to get rid of the ring rust and prepare for the Haney fight.
One thing that I am concerned over is the size of Haney. That's no joke. The kid looked huge in the ring after the fight. He was even bigger than Osuna!!! Did he just hit the fast food chains around town? He looked bigger than usual. He's got to walk around at 168 or 170. That size? Yeah. That's going to be a problem. Loma is going to need to hurt him, and when a guy rehydrates to 160, that's going to be an issue. Basically, the same issue Usyk is going to face fighting Fury is the same Loma will face fighting Haney. If Haney jabs and grabs, leaning all over Loma, well that's not going to go well for Loma.
We'll see ... I think Loma has another miraculous fight in store for us. After his poor showing against Lopez, he came back and destroyed his next opponents. And ironically, Loma was out for a year before he fought Lopez. Can't be a coincidence. So if history repeats itself, we could see another Nakatani type performance.
