Yet people have this guy top 5 on the p4p list. It was a sd win and if it wasn't for the knockdown porter would have won the fight. People seem to forget this. Spence's resume isn't better than crawford's. It's more or less the same. The two common opponents porter and brooke crawford beat in much more impressive fashion.
whats your point? am i meant to have predicted him failing a drugs test?
My point is that you making hero worship posts about a drug cheat. That aside, Benn hasn’t really accomplished much anyway.
mathematically, how do you come to that?
if porter won 7-5, even with a knockdown, he still wins 114-113.
if the fight was 6-6, without the knockdown, porter ties 114-114.
but again, how do you come to the conclusion that if there wasn't no knockdown, porter would have won the fight? the knockdown had nothing to do with spence winning the fight. spence won the fight because in two judges cards he won 8-4. if spence won 6-6, he won because of the knockdown, but tell me how porter would've won if he didn't get knocked down
still waiting.....
TS claimed that Spence arguably lost to Porter, yet absolutely no one is making that argument.
Every time I see that fight I got Spence winning. Good fight and both guys were always trying to win. Don't know how anyone would come to the conclusion that he lost to Porter. The knockdown sealed the deal.
Spence bout against Porter was razor close, but Porter is a tough out for anyone.
Porter is just short of being an elite boxer. He lost to almost every elite guy he boxed, except Garcia, but he’s always competitive, even when he loses.
But think about this. Spence did drop Porter with the perfect hook. Any less of a boxer wouldn’t have been able to take that, but it’s Porter. He wasn’t even really hurt. He was barely knocked down. Really a testament to his toughness. Porter had a great chin. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that was the first time Porter was knocked down.
Theres no shame in “barely” beating Porter. Thurman barely beat Porter. Up until the later rounds, Brook struggled against Porter. Up until Crawford took over in the late rounds, Porter made it competitive.
Spence barely beating Porter doesn’t hurt how Spence is viewed in the world of boxing, because Porter is already established and respected in boxing as a guy who always brings it.
Broner of all people was the first fighter to drop Porter in the final round of their fight, and had Porter hurt more than he was against Spence.
Spence was on the undercard that night lol.

War referring to spence. That porter almost beat spence. And porter is nothing like chisora. Chisora has been stopped several times and never lost a competitive sd loss to an elite fighter.
Not to mention that chisora has been koed by journeeyman like whyte and has 12 losses to mediocore opposition. Only the elites can beat porter. Chisora loses to your average journeyman.
I did consider that, but? I thought if he was quoting me, and I made it clear I was referring to the Crawford fight 'Then no'.
Spence Junior fought Porter in a manner which, gave him a better opportunity to look better. Spence Junior beat Porter at his own game.
People love Spence because they don’t like Mayweather. And he hurt Mayweather’s eye (among others as well — Ugas being his latest recipient of a damaging eye punch). Spence is p4p top ten, but beating Mayweather’s eye (very difficult because he was like an even better WW version of Tyson Fury with good head movement, clinching, footwork, and counterpunching) and that is why Spence has almost quasi-divine status among us boxing fans. No one else could do it.

Shawn Porter was stopped by Terrance Crawford, he did not almost win 'He was beaten down and stopped'.
If Porter was so focused and determined to win. If he was still truly operating at World level? He would of called for the rematch.
If Porter vs Crawford was a super close fight, immediately after the fight 'Team Porter would of been calling for a rematch'.
Nobody called for a rematch, because Porter was probably half way to retirement even before the fight.
I get it. Terrence Crawford is the American version of Derek Chisora. He has a lot of respect in the game, and a loyal fan base.
Shawn Porter for me, never really had the ability to beat a elite level fighter. He can push them and make the fight really difficult for them.
But skill for skill, he was just lacking that ability to win. This is no disrespect, the man was a World Class fighter. I just think people are getting carried away here 'He did not beat Errol Spence Junior'.

There is a strange fascination with Shawn Porter with some. The man was solid fighter, the American version of Derek Chisora 'But a tad more sophisticated'. I have never really seen the ability in Porter to genuine beat a elite level fighter, but he did have the attributes and determination to push them and create a difficult challenge 'Derek Chisora has had this same ability'.
This is not a insult to Porter. Top Fighter.
Porter did not beat Spence Junior. And even if it was a close fight, Errol Spence Junior faced the last solid version of Shawn Porter.
thing that is frustrating is that when he fights the top guys, you want to root for him as the underdog, he seems like a humble dude too, then as the fight is going on he is almost there, the win looks like is possible but he just didnt have that next level, he needs just a bit more of something, either accuracy, power ect and he could beat these guys but then at the end of the fight you get the end result a competitive fight with the favorite winning. no upsets or surprises.
Interesting comparison... The devil is in the details... The division makes a difference here. Porter had an engine like LaMotta, and was good enough to break guys down. Chisora never had the gas, most heavyweights don't... This does make Porter more dangerous but I think your comparison has merit all the same.
Another way to look at this: Look at a fighter like Danny Garcia, his technical acumen, etc... Porter was able to apply pressure and fight well against guys with these skill sets. Chisora beat a lot of soft touches along with losing to some great fighters.
Chisora has really good endurance, when he is in condition. His style by default demands endurance 'Although he has learnt to coast, hang around and defend off the ropes' which helps him get through the rounds.
Porter is the American version of Derek Chisora, but slightly more sophisticated.

Good post!
he wouldnt be on many top 10 p4p lists if he wasnt american. good fighter but plenty of fighters with his talent in every division, nothing special. why it makes me laugh when people talk about spence v crawford as some superfight, what have either of them actually done lol, shawn porter is both of their best wins
Remember when you claimed that Brook was gonna beat Spence? I proposed a ban bet and you didn’t have the testicular fortitude to accept. Still salty I see.
I see you’re still playing the victim card about anything American. 1776 was a loooooong time ago, get the phuck over it already (who won that war anyway?).
What happened to your welterweight hero Benn. Remember your thread “Conor Benn is a problem for the welterweight division”?

if you had porter winning 7-5, why are you even saying "if it wasn't for the knockdown porter would have won"
at 7-5 even WITH being knocked down he still wins the fight
Going by official scoring not my scoring
