To be fair, the way Kambosos was fighting forced the clinch to happen. He'd come charging in like a bull, uncontrolled. That's what happens when you have three months to change your fighting style. It looked like he was practicing how to fight Haney rather than fighting Haney, if that makes sense. If you come barreling in as Kambosos did, you have to clinch. That aside, Haney was up to his old tactics. I'm going to make a gif to show how Haney practices slipping and grabbing. it is the OPPONENT JOB to do something about the Clinching, I'm consistent I said that about Sakio Bika, Andre Ward, Ricky Hatton, Bernard Hopkins, Wlad Klitschko...the opponent need to prepare for that. Mayweather fought Hatton, he was prepared for it! There needs to be a change in boxing where refs start coming down hard on clinching and holding. It's the most calculated and egregious of fouls because it has the potential to completely sway the dynamic of a fight all under the ref's nose without any serious repercussions. A low blow grabs your immediate attention, but strategic clinching is steady, consistent cheating that flies under the radar and is actually far more significant in the long run. Klitschko/Povetkin and Khan/Collazo are both glaring examples of this. If one guy is a great inside fighter and the other a great outside fighter, the outside fighter is going to win more often than not in this day and age because they can just tie up when close and completely negate any possibility of inside fighting. For this reason inside fighting is becoming a lost art in modern boxing, which is a real shame.

Lol are you serious please show me where Haney is fighting g off the clinch???? He uses it to stal the fight nothing else. Guys like Maidana, Cruz and prime Castillo would work nicely in the clinch but once they punch ref conveniently separates them. What Haney has made a habit of ,jab>clinch is not "inside fighting" at all,it's actually the complete opposite. It's a tactic used to nullify the opponent from actually attempting to fight on the inside. It's effective but there's no sugarcoating that it makes for boring,less than fan friendly fights period. Never said I liked and I'm most certainly not defending it, in fact I was critical of his 1,2 Fall In And Grab. Haney doesn't has a Inside Game at all he holds on and stare over at the ref to come and break now that is BS that being said, I still say his opponents need to do something about it themselves instead of waiting for the ref to break Tuck those arms and make him pay for Clinching with nasty body shots Loma, Tank, Shakur won't allow that

The thing with clinches is to not wrestle a guy off of you. Hands up covering your ears, elbows tucked (if possible...PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES) and let the ref break yous up. At the end of the round, let your people complain to the ref and threaten to protest if he doesn't do his job. Wrestling with a clincher wastes energy and let's the ref off the hook.
