Wilder was bordering anorexic looking legs, Truly Chicken Legs. Pacquiao has twice the size.. How is Wilder muster such power with such trully weak legs?
Genetics. You can increase your power through proper technique and muscle physiology to some degree but if it's "not there" it's not there. Tim Bradley comes to mind...
That's because power doesn't come from your calves :lol1:
People say it comes from the legs but it really comes down to how much force you can generate from the ground up. For example, imagine just how challenging it would be to punch hard if you were somehow suspended in the air.
Different body types will be able to develop power differently, and technique is absolutely crucial too.
Brute force, to push the other fighter around, break clinches, and force them into a vulnerable position requires strong legs and weight. Which is why it's so stupid that AJ boxed Usyk because he didn't use his advantages at all. He just let the little man have his way with him.
Explosiveness, which Wilder has, is more about speed and reflexes. Not big muscles, but fast muscles for quick rotation to generate force in the swings.
Comes from the legs, as in positioning, but most comes from the back, every power puncher in history has a huge and thick back, mostly with wide shoulders.
Punching power is from the shoulder’s to the fist. Anyone that has boxed enough and actually gained some power will have realized it’s all about the snap of your shoulder and tightening of the fist. Legs are just a base. The back is for stabilisation so you don’t tear your arms off, you’ll build a good back just from pulling your punches back from shadowboxing.

It’s his swimming and strong back. I don’t think his metal plates and screws hurt either. But punch power is generated in the back and hips, not the arms and it seems not the legs either.
Power is mostly generated from the arms, from fist to shoulder. The rest (back, hip etc) is mainly for stabilisation, legs is mainly for generating power from different positions by quickly putting you into position after you moved. But you can be a big puncher with just your arms if you’re strong enough. Just a straight plodding, heavybag, who barely even turns his hips, if you simply know how to move the power from your shoulder to fist.

The power comes from AL HAYMON'S deep pockets.
He is a freak of nature. He put Helenius to sleep with an arm punch that wasnt even fully extended. It looks ***********y on the replay but the dude just has a bomb in his right hand. I know people are going to scream fix but you dont fall like that when you are faking it. Its like people saying the Jake Paul v Tyron Woodley fight was fixed. There are numerous examples of people taking dives and it looks nothing like that.
if it was fake Helenius is some kind of Daniel Day Lewis esque actor, with the oscar winning moment of rolling his eyes back into his skull. :lol1:
Some of the hardest punchers in boxing history didn't have big legs. Sandy Saddler, Julian jackson, and Tommy Hearns. These guys were bean poles, but seriously, I'd much rather be hit by Chris Byrd, who was a heavyweight, than Julian jackson or Hearns.

Agreed, but I'd include his well-developed shoulders with his back & titanium steel rods in his right hand. People try to say the rods don't make a difference, but I beg to differ. Steel is stronger than bone.
Power can come from the legs. I just depends on how you punch. Much of punching power comes from the back. It's mostly from the back. That's why you'd see Big George chopping trees down and stuff.
Truthfully, it's a kinetic chain, and part of the power does come from the legs, the calves, quads and on up through the arms to the fist. You need to have proper body mechanics. Watch how Wilder throws a right hand and then watch how Haney throws his. You'll see how much more fluid and on form Wilder's right hand is to Haney's.

So did Tommy Hearns yet was one of the most devastating punchers in history, when they say it comes from legs it means that's where it begins and unwinds through the hips to the shoulders to the extension of the fist it's a whip that creates the power.
