Both of these guys are signed up with PBC, so there shouldn’t be too many roadblocks as there are with trying to make Davis vs Garcia or Ennis vs Ortiz happen. Plus, Sebastian would be a good option for Jermell after he fights Tszyu. Let’s try to build some demand for this until both guys have to give in to the pressure.
he's cleaned out the division. Who has he ducked at 154? hahhaa. I think you're confusing JermEll with JermAll who is at 160. Jermell has ducked no one and knocked out every champion in unification fights.
He’s the SAME AGE as Canelo. You do the math. Canelo was once 154, so we’re a lot of great fighters THEIR age.
I think Charla whips him but Charla and his people are EXTREMELY tentative of being whipped. So, it won’t happen. Not my choice.

if Lubin almost had him out of there, Charlo puts him thru the mat.. You can't be serious. I like Fundora, but he has no chance in hell of winning this fight.

Not a big fan of the father son combo which imo can take you only so far
Adding someone else would be very beneficial to him
It is becoming way too common now in days, I am saying that despite that ironically I am being a big fan of Vergil Ortiz Jr who also trains with his father at the helm.
Well, there is also the fact that Hector Beltran is the co-trainer who worked at Vivero Boxing in his youth who had the likes of Errol Spence.
He did work under multiple trainers such as Abel Sanchez who trained GGG, Robert Garcia from RGBA that has produced 15 Champions and now Manny Robles. He will likely change working with different trainers the next 2-3 years to change the pace.
Now imagine an entitled parent who has no qualifications, having not even fought inside the ring and only having trained one fighter.
The likes of Teofimo Lopez Sr can't be critical thinkers because they are too biased towards favoring their children like any parent, thinking that if it isn't broken don't fix it, unable to take constructive criticism to make improvements of his son's fighting style lacking both the motivation and experience.
Teofimo Jr looks very refined but that is because professional boxers can already be trainers themselves, due to his own upbringing with amateur boxing and former trainers, he polished the skills that he already learned and likely studied different boxers after being done with training.
Which he shouldn't be having this role from the beginning because realistically most people rarely are their own biggest critic.
Plus he already is busy as it is, focused already on conditioning, weight management, boxing training, and self-promotion.
That is why even accomplished professional retired boxers don't take part knowing this, like Nigel Benn stepping aside letting Conor Benn improve with Tony Sims. There are only so much retired boxers can teach compared to veteran trainers who have polished several fighters from the very start, from amateurs up until into getting a championship belt.
Though there are exceptions out there like Robert Garcia who dedicated completely on training fighters after finishing his professional boxing career.
Too much of a risk for old man Charla.

Not with that attitude. This one is a bit easier to make happen than other dream fights that we all want. There just needs to be enough buzz stirred up about this match.
I don't think Charlo would take it. And I would understand why he won't. His sights would be on the next division as he would be soon struggling to make the weight.
Fundora is too big. He would wreck Charlo's career like he did Lubin. I don't expect this fight to happen ever.

Maybe taking his first L would be the moment that he decides to part ways with his dad and get a new trainer
His trainer is his father Freddy Fundora who had a brief career as a professional boxer.
He is also training Elias Araujo (21-5-0) who's in a losing streak and Starling Castillo (17-1-0).
If he brought another trainer to his corner, it would likely help him a lot like Rubio who's currently training Teofimo Lopez.

He should get Lasik eye surgery then even if it takes a whole year, fighting at such disadvantage would put him in literal danger of risking his life.
No professional boxer can wear contacts inside a professional bout.
Whether he has slow reflexes it is something that can be somewhat worked upon even if it is not completely fixed by improving upon his current skillset, getting better at making adjustments depending on his opponent's style or gameplan and implementing skills that will help him in the long run.
Yeah, I think there's things he can definitely implement to help him utilize his physical gifts and skillset despite his other limitations. I also look at it as a balance of the universe type thing, like you can't have everything in your favor.
He will not be able to overwhelm everyone he fights and eventually someone will land something that will hurt him so he need to be and to find an alternative path.
Totally agree with you
Who’s his trainer anyways , I don’t seem to recall
But as you stated there are ways to correct it somewhat and adapt to your opponent
Must be fughed up to have that viewing disadvantage , I’m going through it right now with eyesight
Always had 20/20 vision and it just caught me off guard so can understand what a disadvantage it can be

A trainer pointed out to me that the reason he fights close is because he doesn't have the reaction/reflexes and had poor vision so he prefers to be in closer where he can feel his opponent. I thought the same thing you thought until he pointed that out.

A shame that he’s not allowed to wear contact lenses in the ring.
Not saying he should stop attempting to fight at the phone booth since having that kind of reach also bring advantages when infighting, just make use of his natural physical advantages.
Yet because he refuses to implement wrinkles to his game he is vulnerable of getting knocked out against lesser opposition. Imagine if he used his freakishly long jab to keep opponents at bay or use it to close the distance.
Or added basic head movement will do wonders for him since connecting flush against a much taller opponent is already difficult.

Exactly. Learn more strategies and find more ways to use his natural gifts and he could really be something.
He’s probably the only fighter with that much of a reach who stubbornly sticks to fighting up close. Maybe taking an L from Jermell will cause a shift in his style, maybe start using that natural reach advantage more often

Jermell ibf mandatory is due after the tszyu fight.
So unless jermell vacates, fundora is gonna be waiting a while
Hey, as long as it happens while it still matters.
