To be fair, Ortiz had been folded twice by Wilder. So Ruiz beating an even older version that’s been stopped twice wouldn’t say a huge deal. Ruiz should be expected to finish off Ortiz at this point if he’s any good.
For the record, I never massively rated Ortiz. He obviously had some ability and power, but he was a bit overhyped being Cuban. Take his exact resume, stick it to a guy called Tony Anderson from Ohio or something instead of Ortiz from Cuba, he wouldn’t be ranked any higher than guys like Breazeale.
Although his win over Jennings was impressive, considering Joyce and Wlad couldn’t do that to Jennings.
I always felt Ortiz would be a tricky fight for many of todays basic heavyweights but never rated him as a fighter that could be a truly top 3 in the division.
Yeah. I mean Ortiz could have been huge, to be honest. What's his name, that matchmaker ... Rick Glazer. He's come out and said that Ortiz is not 40 years old. He said he's like 51 or 52 years old. He was being serious. Without a birth certificate, can't say for sure I guess. But Rick is probably right.
Anyway, I hear what you are saying.
I never thought much of Wilder, to be honest. And when Ruiz obliterates Ortiz this weekend, it'll be evident that Wilder was garbage. You can't be good and go life and death with a 50 year old boxer.
I'm saying this because Wilder is arguably Fury's best win. Personally, I think Klitschko is but many believe Wilder is his best win. And if that's the case, what would it mean for Fury's legacy if he loses to Uysk?

is Fury better at using his size than AJ was?
When Fury is fighting a smaller man, he doesn't try to outbox him, he leans on him, holds, fights dirty, and uses his height. AJ fights like he's my height of 5'11"
Wlad punched himself in the face v Jennings. Who cares?
Fury ended the domination of the last era, beating one of the longest reigning champs ever. He’s also beaten the longest reigning one of this era.
He’s held every belt, never lost them in the ring.
he’s the best heavyweight today and in reality probably beats anybody in history head to head.
Get used to it. Enjoy it while he’s around. You’ll slate him now but in 20 years you’ll be saying about the new crop “they wouldn’t have beaten Fury”. Like people slated Lewis 25 years ago but now use him as an example.

Fury moves lol.
Boxers have been fighting rough since the sport started, it's a fight, not a tickling contest.
If Usyk is as great as you claim he is, he should be capable of dealing with roughhouse tactics.
First, this is boxing, not mixed martial arts. I see Fury too often get guys in a guillotine, for example, and manhandle them around the ring.
Second, in my book, if you're are so good, then why cheat? Normally boxers who are A grade level don't have to cheat, but I see Fury cheat when he feels like he can't win otherwise. Case in point, Cunningham. Fury came out doing his normal thing but Cunningham was fighting a smart, intelligent fight and dropped him. Next thing you know, Fury stopped boxing and began wrestling. If a boxer is as good as they say he is, then he shouldn't have to cheat to win.
I don't know man. This is the same Fury who punched himself in the face.

Like I said, I depends on if there's a referee who enforces the rules. Rules are rules. You can't punch people in the back of the head, choke them with your forearm, clinch every chance you get and lean. These are all Fury moves, and the are explicitly called fouls and should be penalized.

Yeah in his 3rd pro fight. Klitschko punched himself in the face against Jennings, so what?
People are putting far too stock in Fury's performance against Cunningham which was many years ago now.
Fury had no respect for Cunningham whatsoever, he was messing around in there, and he was dropped because he dropped both of his hands and was caught square on.
He had no trainer in his corner and wasn't in the physical condition that he was in for Klitschko.
Fury isn't a fool, he won't be messing around against Usyk, he will be 100% ready for business.

Fury wants to be GOAT, so you need a dance partner to bring best out of you. Usyk might make us see fury at his best, see what he can do. Same for fury bringing out best of usyk
Boo hoo
And you’ll be crying Fury was too big and dirty when he smashes Usyk. Even though you say now Usyk will win…

He knows how to use it so long as he has a referee that allows him to do so. Much of what Fury is doing is illegal. He should be getting point deductions.

I think he's gotten slower, lazier. I think he's actually lost a step. If you watch him fight Klitschko, he was constantly feinting, using head movement, switch stances, making it so Klitschko didn't know what to do and second guess himself. Now he just stands in front of his opponents, looking to setup one big shot. That's how he's fought Wilder in the last two fights as well as Whyte. So I'm seeing a less dynamic, skilled Fury in there than I saw before.

that fight ended with Cunningham out cold in the 7th round
The only man to stop Cunningham. A former Cruiserweight isn’t stopping a man like Fury mauling them. It’s not just size, he knows exactly how to use it unlike the timid AJ.

Here we go with the invincible Usyk again.
Fury dropped the ring so he could fight for it a 3rd time. Ali is the only other HW to do so. That's why Fury dropped the ring so he doesn't have to fight for it a 3rd time.
if he cares about legacy he needs to take that fight. I would comfortably favour him to win, but regardless if he walks away now when theres a unification fight that could easily be made and would essentially wrap up this HW era? people will remember that in decades to come when they look back on his career, it will always come up.
Usyk is just as big as Steve Cunningham, and Cunningham flattened Fury. So I'm not sure why it's so difficult to see Usyk get to Fury when other fighters, less talented than Usyk, were able to.

that was due to the low level the 2 boxers he was facing fought at, he fights according to the level he faces...if you look at any technical boxer they fight according to whom they are facing
