I think this might be the first time I rewatched it since it happened live. I don't know if I made fun of him for taking a knee but If I did he didn't deserve it. Margarito brutalized him.
The fight was over. Cotto fought hard but he had nothing left. He was right to take the knee no need to get brain damage to please some random boxing fan. I'm happy he got his revenge though.
Im not saying this because Im a Margarito fan but I dont think he was loaded in the first fight. But if he was loaded, that says alot about the commission and Cotto's team. Opposing team members are literally there watching your hands get wrapped so how did they miss it ? It's even more ridiculous when people accuse him of loading wraps his whole career!
Cotto lost because he couldn't take as much as he dished out in the early-mid rounds. I just remember him spending so much energy early in the fight and failed to maintain the same energy. While he got tired, Margo only got stronger as he always did and Cotto couldn't handle the heat. So he got on his knees and submitted no mas.... Cant blame him.
And btw, it wasnt some brass knuckle that people make it out to be. It was a " pinch " of unknown substance that got blown out of proportion.
Margarito owns him...
Why would you doubt that his gloves were loaded? Cotto has no history of bruising or busting up easily and Marg made him look like a vehicle just backed up over his face.
Cotto's face at the end of round 9, first fight

Cotto's face after 9 rounds, after the fight was stopped, second fight.

Cotto's face looked pretty much the same, maybe a bit more beat up in the second fight actually, after 9 rounds despite being hit less.
Did the plasterer not activate till round 10????
But yeah, tell yourself whatever ya want.
Larry my dog whats good with you bro? How's life? How's the family? I joined this site in 2005 it's almost been 20 years that's really wild to me.
burner, my guy, whats been good?? its all good over here still grinding
I honestly felt like HBO saved him. He was starting to lose down the stretch
I do not condone cheating but I don't see how more people don't remember this.
From what I can recall Margarito was really pressing and starting to get to Cotto that last round. It was looking very similar to the first fight where the tide completely turned.
Margaritos eye being completely shut more than likely bailed Cotto out.
Cotto tried to retroactively come back and say that Margo won with cement hand wraps when he had no proof and his team inspected and approved the wraps and gloves that Margo used.
Margo always had his number, even in the rematch he was banging up Cotto pretty good, it was just that cotto had a pre-broken eye socket to target. Cotto would have lost the rematch if manny didnt break margo first.

The corner should have thrown in the towel before Cotto took that knee. We’ll never know for certain but I believe Margo was plastered up.
- - Marg was wearing commish and Cotto corner approved wraps, that's what we know.
Actually, in the face off at the weigh in, Cotto looked distinctly intimidated as he should have been against the Monster where l'l floydy had previously turned down a career purse rather than get beat up.
Margarito even though he was carrying injuries, was the fighter who ended Pacquiao run of bionic form.
Pacquiao was never the same after facing Margarito.
Usually after fights he would attend after parties and perform at his own concerts. I think he went straight to the hospital after the Margarito fight.
A bit late, but.....

Pacquiao vs. Margarito
Main article: Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito -
On July 23, 2010, Bob Arum announced that Pacquiao would fight Antonio Margarito on November 13, 2010. The fight for the vacant WBC super-welterweight title gave Pacquiao the chance to win a world title in his eighth weight class, the super-welterweight division. A catchweight of 150 pounds was established for the fight, although the weight limit for the super-welterweight division is 154 pounds. During the pre-fight, Pacquiao weighed in at a low 144.6 pounds, while Margarito weighed in at the limit of 150 pounds. Pacquiao said he was pleased with his weight because he loses too much speed when he gains pounds. During the fight itself, Pacquiao weighed 148 lb, 17 pounds lighter than Margarito's 165.
Prior to the fight, Pacquiao's team demanded to the Texas officials to test Margarito for banned substances after a weight loss supplement, reportedly Hydroxycut, was found in his locker. It was stated that the officials would undergo testing for both boxers after the fight. In the fight, Pacquiao defeated Margarito via unanimous decision, using his superior handspeed and movement to win his eighth world title in as many divisions. In the penultimate round, Pacquiao implored referee Laurence Cole several times to stop the fight as Margarito had a swollen face and a large cut beneath the right eye, but the referee let the fight continue. Margarito had to be taken directly to the hospital after the fight, where it was discovered his orbital bone had been fractured; he had to undergo surgery.
On November 22, 2010, after winning world title in his eighth weight division, Pacquiao was awarded with another Congressional Medal of Distinction during the ceremony at the Philippine House of Representatives.
Because Pacquiao had no plans to defend the WBC super-welterweight title that he won against Margarito, the WBC Board of Governors voted to declare the title vacant.

Nothing about Pac being ruined and it's his link.
"After Sunday's grueling fight against Antonio Margarito, Pacquiao complained of pain in his body as a result of the power shots he suffered from the hands of Margarito.
Reports said Pacquiao had to be assisted by aides in order to move around because of intense pain, particularly on the right side of his body, where he received multiple blows from Margarito.
Chino Trinidad of GMA News reported Pacquiao's amazing recovery as the new WBC junior middleweight champion was up and about Tuesday and was getting ready for his Lake Tahoe concert.
Trinidad said Pacquiao was even smiling, in contrast to the grimace he wore when wracked with pain after the bout.
Pacquiao and members of his entourage are scheduled to fly back to Manila on Saturday."

Was doing well vs JMM 4 before getting hit with that ONE shot in the Nite Nite fight.
Robbed vs Timmy and HORN (CPGW)
Lost to May, which was expected
And was shot vs Ugas
These outcomes would have happened 99.9999 % even if he didn't fight Margarito.
Cotto's biggest weakness was always his inability to fight when being forced backwards. He's a punching bag in that scenario.
He had nothing left, the fight was only going one way it's either quit or get brutally stopped.
I guess that's what happens when getting hit with bricks.

It took Margarito a while to be honest. He was the underdog for some odd reason, but my prediction for that fight was Margarito by TKO. I felt Margarito was too big and too strong for Cotto. I scratched my head at all the fans who thought Cotto would win.
Judah, Torres, Corley all hurt Cotto BADLY, and none of them had plaster. I had Mosley beating Cotto. Cotto even almost allowed Malignaggi to come back and beat him.
All the signs were there that Margarito would be too much for Cotto. Cotto just finally caught an injured, shot Margarito in the rematch and even then, Margarito was actually getting to him yet again before the injury.
Welllllll, he was outboxing Margarito but the impact of the blows was taking a massive toll physically and quickly, where in the second fight he was again outboxing him and getting hit but the impact was not the same, hence glove-gate.
I think the easy way to beat Margarito is to box behind a jab and be mobile that's how Cotto was beating him, Floyd would hardly have been touched by the rock-slow Margarito, Mosley was outboxing and countering him clearly and had the firepower to sleep him, in my eyes Margarito was just a slow big physical guy, he never impressed me, it's like him and Williams got elevated after their fight, but after that Marg only had 2 contender fights then Cotto with the wraps, then Mosely KOs him, then 2 yrs out, a fight with a nobody at 154 then KOed by Manny, from Cotto got a massive mental boost from beating him then it a few robberies and is gone, After fighting Margarito Williams was beat by Quintana being out boxed, but in with Margarito its fight of the year material 1000 punches each, Margarito was quite a bit overrated in my view, elite boxers got is number.
zero proof of this and go and watch the rematch and see that cotto still struggled in the rematch. styles make fights and he had cotto's number. cotto just targeted his orbital bone in the rematch
To be fair, there’s no proof those gloves weren’t loaded either.

Knowing NOW that Margarito had plaster of paris in his gloves. I don't get why its a subject?
What I don’t understand is why did team Cotto agree to such a small ring? Knowing someone like Margarito is a come forward machine, why not ask for a bigger ring?
Personally I don’t believe Margarito had loaded gloves that night, he came in and was willing to walk through fire to get the win. He took some massive shots from Cotto and never buckled, I think it was the third or fourth round where Cotto landed a massive shot in the last second of that round and you see Margaritos head snap back dirty and what does he do? Nothing but smile back and goes back to his corner like nothing happened. It was the second round where both fighters showed all their arsenals, and by the end of the round it was Margarito who was getting the better of the exchanges
No way margs gloves weren’t loaded
