You can hear the gameplan now “go ahead Nonito brawl with him” what a clown apparently Nonito admitted later he was out of it after the first knockdown for a few seconds and what was the strategy from Rachel in round 2 lads? You guessed it brawl some more. Horrible trainer no one else at world class would even talk to her.
fight ended in the 2nd round... what kinda advice would she have given!!?? the fight ended early! lol.
he got knocked down in the 1st round... donaire said he didnt know what happened, then he said all of a sudden he looks at Rach, and she was yelling at him "keep your hands up or the ref is gon stop the fight".. then that's when Donaire realized that he has been dropped.... he came out for the 2nd round and the fight was pretty much over already... no advice from Rach, from Donaire's dad, from Robert Garcia, would have helped Donaire in this situation, he went into the 2nd round still dazed!!
World class coaching there by Rachel “keep your hands up” wow this is Manny Steward rolled into Angelo Dundee wearing heels type of expert advice. So besides yelling the obvious what did she do in between rounds did she tell her man Inoue was feinting with the left to set up the right and to keep a high guard, did she say circle away from the right with his left hand high, did she say double the jab, jab and clinch? What was her world class coaching?
She's also probably the cheapest if you're married to her which I suspect is rather the point... or maybe the most expensive. Depending how you want to look at it.:dunno:
I suspect money and / or control is at the heart of this thing... I think Rachel resents anyone else having her man's ear and resents even more parting with what she perceives as her money for the privilege.
You married, man? Long term girl maybe?
Good point.
I remember Omar Figueroa fighting a couple fights " training himself ".
With his sister working the corner along with a cutman.
There was also another Euro fighter who " trained himself " with just a cutman in the corner.
I understand fighters having their dads in the corner.
But first thing that comes to mind when a family member's working the corner is the fighter's trying to Save money.
What was her response to her fighter getting lured in by feints in the first round? What was her plan and adjustments so it didn’t continue happening?
She had nothing, no advice to give, no strategy. This is what happens when you have a novice in the corner. Nonito might as well have had just a cut man because he had no coach.
Worst trainer in boxing no one else at world level or even a contender would deal with her.

Unless she's giving him head in between rounds I see no reason for a man to have his wife as his trainer. It's obviously just about money and her keeping more of it. She seems like she wears the pants in the relationship tbh.
But whatever, no trainer could have made a difference to the outcome yesterday.
Then again, if my trainer makes me lose a fight but welcomes me at home like this, who gives a fùck about winning a belt at 40... :lol1:

Well shit, as long as Nonito hangs on to her, he'll always be a winner!
What about Beibut shumenov? He was a light heavyweight with NO trainer "as he sits in between rounds and looks at the other corner" says Lampley for crying out loud! Listen, I totally respect the honour and loyalty in nonitos life. Roy Jones offered the best explanation to it: when nonito switched trainers, pilipinos were saying how dare he do that to his father?! But no no Roy, god bless em, said something along the lines of "nonitos talent is too special to be understood by his own family." He had to move on, boxing wasn't fun while training with his dad anymore. Listen a lot of us like job satisfaction not just job security, why can't boxers ask for the same?? Look at Floyd eating chips in training lol. As a brother I really respect nonitos loyalty. As a person who's mourned I respect his honour. Only a true Filipino warrior, wish there was many more if them those donaires! Then again more than one of them boxed smh. Dude is a legend second to Pacquiao. Don't tell me to come up for air after all that d because it's Rachel's dds I be blubbering in! Btw Donaire= role model.

Well, brawling with the Monster seemed to work pretty well in the first fight, but that was 2.5 years ago. Inuoe himself said that once Nonito clipped him with a left hook in the first round, it woke him up and he just decided to pour it on and get him out of there. The Filipino Flash is just old. Even if the late, great Emmanuel Steward were in his corner, there was no way he would win that fight.

Rachel and Nonito share a special story, if you know the background. Around 2012 or so, he stayed loyal to her, and broke with his father and trainer. Nonito's dad didn't like Rachel at first, and that caused big family trouble. At the end, they all reconciled and now it's all OK. But it's well known that Nonito is fond of his wife, and trusts her completely.
That’s great he loves his wife.
Look her being a nice lady and a loyal wife has nothing to do with her complete lack of knowledge being a trainer. This isn’t about cardio when you’re in a fight, it’s gameplan and adjustments she can’t fathom either. Good woman bad trainer.

aint sticking up for her but i think she a lil smarter than that.... when donaire got dropped in the 1st round, it was rachael who told doanire to put his hands up or the ref is gon stop the fight... i dont think rach is gon send his hubby out to get slaughter.

Fair points but in essence it’s highly unprofessional to not have a professional coach at any stage of your career. Not saying a trainer would have won him the fight but at the least he wouldn’t have been humiliated so easily.
Bingo!
The biggest change from 3 years ago when they fought isn’t age it’s the lack of corner at all. What the hell is this woman doing for him in there putting a sponge on his head? Telling him how awesome he is? She had no strategy. What could she possibly tell him based on her years of experience? Nonito lad you’re losing so try a hip toss to score some points

It's the same strategy that got him the WBC belt and two fourth round KOs against Ring/TBRB top 10 ranked opponents in his last two fights.
He's been doing this his entire life. He's a four division world champion with an interim strap in a fifth division. He's had over 20 world title fights. There's nothing any trainer can tell him that he doesn't know. It's not like he's some green punk trying to go it alone. He's a first ballot hall of fame fighter and he proved he could win a world title with his wife in the corner. If he thought a trainer would've helped he would've had one.
He's training himself. She's not there to give him any boxing tactics, she's just there to keep him in shape (she was a military and college national champion in Taekwondo), give him encouragement, and throw the towel if necessary. He literally won a world title doing it this way. He's just a 39 year old who got caught clean, early, against the best bantamweight in the world. There's no mystery about why he lost and it's not his wife's fault.
