Let's face it, this is a question no one had ever thought of answering.
Why? Because everyone assumes he beats Kambosos.
Haney's fans cried about how bad the deal he entered into with
Dibella and TR was. They already assumed the fight is a foregone conclusion.
Even Haney is considering signing with TR as if the fight is just something to get over with.
So if he loses, everything in that deal is scrapped like shredded paper. What's next for him then?
I think if he loses to Kambosos, it just means he had to eat lots of potatoes some more before taking on another top 5. Otherwise, he would lose again.
I think he can easily move up to 140 for his build. There are lots of names to go after in this division, Prograis, Zepeda, Taylor, Lopez. that Brit guy who go robbed vs Taylor, and many more.
DAZN made it clear they aren't interested in investing in him when he's an undefeated beltholder.... they'll have nothing for him if he loses.
I imagine he'll move up and sign with PBC or Top Rank just to make something happen.
Teo at 140 is still a legit option.
That's a fight that would make sense for Haney to go ahead and sign with TR.
Can't wait for Teo demanding $5 million for that fight. It's a salable fight.
That's not even funny and not far from happening.
He's one of those high risk/low reward fighters no one wants to fight.
Except you could say Farmer is a total nobody.
He’s not a draw either. Without a title he’s not really relevant. This fight is must win for Haney. Fair play to him for taking the risk.
I am picking Kambosos.
If Haney loses I expect him to blame the weight and move up to 140. He's young enough that it wouldn't be a disaster to lose a fight to a reigning lineal, unified champion.
If Haney loses, Kambosos is recognized as a legit fighter who will fight the best out there. You can almost argue boxing is better off.
Haney would be fine. He will have to work hard to get back to championship opportunities, But seriously, he is 23 years old. A loss here sets him back, it does not end him. He has an entire lifetime to go in boxing yet, win or lose. He could have 15-20 years worth of fights in him. I do not understand the idea that a loss in a big fight is somehow a career killer. It would not be.
I don’t give Haney a good chance. Not because he’s not an exellent fighter cause he is BUT he has no power for Kam. To worry about so his only way of beating him is to OUTBOX him and I just can’t see him winning a decision in Australia.
