So who picked Plant for them?
Eddie picked plant back in the winter of 2020 when he told canelo Alvarez that if he went quickly enough he would be able to win the easiest 4 belts in boxing against the 3 easiest opponents, but only if he acted fast before guys like Benavidez, Morrell, Charlo, Andrade had time to snatch those belts.
Hearn doesn't have all the power. Canelo wanted that fight, because he thought it would be an easy way to become the first two-time Mexican LHW champion. Some cherry pick! :lol1:
You are absolutely correct and I agree.

Sure, of course he did but against a limited and inferior opponent. You are no fool and neither is the forum. Everyone knows that if Canelo Alvarez had even so much as the slightest hint of ever losing to Bivol he would have never taken the fight.
Y'all don't have to agree but you know that I am right. Bivol was considered an unknown, limited and inexperienced fighter among both casual and boxing fans alike. Likewise, he was even slighted by most boxing experts for the exception of Roy Jones, Jr and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
he barely scraped past a shot old jacobs and just got made to look like a ****ing bum by bivol. charlo would light him up like a christmas tree
Based on what? Charlo is not good. Charlo actually lost to Korobov and he has no real power even at 160.
They have different styles. Bivol's style is vastly different than GGG. Styles make fights and Bivols style is cryptonite to Canelo.
GGG vs Bivol, GGG would win. Bivol obviously had an easier time with Canelo, and we saw teh struggles and how Canelo hung in with GGG.
I like GGG...but man, what makes you think that he would stand a chance fighting Bivol at 175?
Every fight is a cherry pick if you want to apply the term this easily. An A side picks a guy because he thinks he can beat him. Canelo probably still thinks he can beat Bivol... is the rematch another cherry pick?
With all the fights that this forum didn't label a cherry pick, what happened? You think the A side picked an opponent they were pretty sure would beat them?
Canelo was a huge favorite, but I didn't really understand why. People on this forum were wondering why they didn't do the GGG fight first, because Bivol was a very live dog whereas GGG is past it.
A few reasons. #1, unless you are a hardcore boxing fan, you did not follow Bivol. #2. If you KNOW Bivol, you already knew it would go 12 rounds.... and well, you generally don't get the decision against Canelo.
I KNEW Bivol would outbox Canelo, but I did not put money on it knowing Bivol would not KO Canelo, and well, odds are, he was not going to get a decision.... and we saw that against GGG, and how judges only had Bivol up by 1 round. lol.
Bivol is much better fighter than GGG and you know it, you just live in denial.

Canelo wanted to unify all the belts at 175lbs. That was Canelo's dream, not Eddie Hearn's.
How was he supposed to unify 175 without fighting any of the title holders?
Bivol is a carefull boxer who has won all his title defences by decision. Targetting him first, rather than the winner of Beterbiev/Smith, was a no-brainer, especially considering that Bivol is also a Matchroom fighter. It wasn't a cherry pick, and it wasn't bad matchmaking, it was the kind of calculated risk that ambitious fighters like Canelo have to take if they want to build themselves an ATG legacy.
it was a cherry pick gone wrong, noone was demanding the bivol fight, there was very little interest in it and a flat build up and they were so confident they would win they had already planned the next fight. on paper the route of bivol and ggg 3 was much easier than the showtime deal that was presented to team canelo. people can say 'oh madison youre a clown' maybe so, but you dont plan your next fight and biggest payday for later in the year if you think the guy in front of you has a legitimate chance, bivol had looked flat in recent performances and his resume on paper sucked.

This was no cherrypick. This was Canelo thinking he's better than he really is.
Yep. He and also the most of his fans believed he would be able to beat unbeaten champs at light heavy.
This hype was crazy.
Canelo wanted to be undisputed at 175. It's obvious. With all his talk about Beterbiev and moving up. Although, I saw this upset happening years ago if he ever fought Bivol. Matchroom needs better matchmakers if they believed that Bivol was a cherry pick. It was obvious to several that it was a suicide attempt on Canelo's part.

Eddie and Canelo admit that they don't even watch boxing, they just rely on their promoter to pick the easiest opponents for them. When do you ever see canelo at a boxing match the way you do with Usyk, Spence, Bud? The only time Canelo ever goes to someone else's fight is if it's Reynoso fighter.
So who picked Plant for them?

You're trying to suggest that Canelo and Reynoso had no idea about Bivol? Come on now. One boxer doesn't have to attend a live fight to study another boxer. There is video, you know.

didn’t you say if bivol won you’d leave? Lmao

Good post. Agree with everything.

They might not attend fights live but they know very well who they getting in with, they thought that Bivol was slow, flat footed and basic but also I do think Canelo was hoping to make more history and it just didn't go as plan
