It’s a really thin division. If there is some money to be made, he may as well go straight into a title shot regardless.
Maybe he should go to a heavyweight and challenge Gassiev for non -title fight.
This fight can be made in Russia.
Have you ever watched Goulamirian mate? I think he’s pretty good tbh. Not justifying the WBA’s bullsh** rankings or title policy but I do think Goulamirian is a decent fighter to say the least.
just looked him up, how does this guy have the title when he hasnt fought in 30 months, jesus what a joke
pulev is old same age as kovalev, only thing he had over kovalev was natural size, thats really it, kovalev was quicker and more experienced. Kovalev will have problems with a young buck who has speed AND size/power on him
I honestly doubt he does much
Even if he does beat Makabu it’ll be a short term loan
And we all know where Makabu stands in our minds
I don’t see Kovalev having a prolonged run either. He’s probably one KO loss away from retirement.
I want to see him again against a better opponent. He must fight more often as he himself said.
If anything, he looked a little unstable sometimes, but this has probably to do with regaining instinctive composure and timing after such a long layoff.
Wlodarczyk would be a decent test. Both at a similar age too.
He can, there are no great fighters around. Some French nobody has WBA title. The dude hasn`t fought for the last two years.

If he beats Makabu, it's by decision imo, which is very possible at this point, maybe even likely. Still think there would be a good chance of Makabu clipping Kovalev and knocking him out. I expect Kovalev to suffer a KO defeat within his next 3 fights
I genuinely think he’d still knock Makabu out.
I thought he looked pretty good all things considered last night.
