I don’t sub to DAZN currently and haven’t for nearly a year, but fights like Canelo-Bivol is being part of the subscription package will definitely have me renewing in May.
As for the US side how many buys do you think Canelo will do on the DAZN platform? Will Canelo-GGG 3 do similar numbers to the first two fights on HBO? Will Canelo-Bivol do similar numbers to Canelo-Plant?
RJJ.. I have maintained my script with DAZN due to the fact that we would not pay for PPV. That is now ending, which means I’m ending my subscription!
That’s more than fair man, they’ve essentially obtained your business on a false pretence with all the “PPV is dead” BS.
It will Flop hard in America as far as PPV but DAZN don't release numbers anyway so we will never know for sure but yeah this one doesn't do anything for Casuals and when they go look at Bivol Highlights, his style is not anything to get Casuals Excited
As a Hardcore who knows Bivol, Hell Yeah bring it on, it is one of the fights that people said "CANELO WOULD NEVER FIGHT BIVOL" as well and people went as far as proclaimed that Bivol is the toughest of them all so by Hardcore Boxing Fans Standards this is a tough fight
That's my problem.....wasn't DAZN supposed to be the death of PPV? This is 3rd time they have increased their prices (2nd in the US and once in Europe). Fool me once shame on you, fol me twice..........
DAZN has to make money on these fights somehow. I understand the frustration with the monthly prices going up but it is what it is. $150 for the year still isn't that bad.

stream everything. the fighters are getting good paydays regardless of PPV sales. people that cry about supporting boxing, most of your money goes to cable companies and promoters. if a boxer on the PPV- level can't support their family on the 100k+ money they get per year, that's their problem.
AJ won't be PPV stateside unless he fights in the states against a big name. Joshua may not even be DAZN PPV in the UK. He may just continue fighting on Sky Box Office.
Canelo is the only current DAZN fighter stateside that will be on PPV. That will likely change with Garcia sooner rather than later and then we shall see on Vergil Ortiz.

I'm not renewing my subscription after this bs :beerchug:
This
cancelled my subscription. And they dont even let you type anything in a comments box, they only have a multi choice thing to click when you cancel. lol so they dont even care about people's reasons for cancelling. Thats their problem, ill just stream it
Yeah, I'm not saying Munguia can't win that fight or that Zhanibek is this killer but it is still a pretty dangerous fight that could go wrong for him. Charlo fight would sell great at the gate, would be much more exciting and it's a fight that Munguia can win.
Let's see how it plays out.
What I'm also curious about now is what will the plan for Buatsi be? I think it was clear that Hearn was hoping to put him in with Bivol in 2022. Now what?
If Canelo wins, would he drop the belt? That’s probably what they’re hoping for.
They should make Callum Smith vs Buatsi. That’s a really interesting matchup IMO.
I think Zhanibek is a much more winnable fight than Charlo. I think he starts favourite vs Zhanibek.

Canelo will sell PPVs regardless.
I don't expect that a lot of Americans will subscribe to DAZN, though. What for? They can just buy the card now without the subscription.
But are we sure about that? Zhanibek may have a style that troubles Munguia and makes it hard on him so it would make more sense going after the fight with a much bigger reward. Let's be real, no one knows who the hell Zhanibek is and I doubt DAZN will break the bank for that fight and we know TR won't either. Charlo didn't look great his last time out and it's no secret he is struggling to make 160 so I think it's a good risk for Munguia to take. If he loses? Oh well, he lost a known commodity at the MW division and the fight will likely be fireworks. Lose a boring fight to Zhanibek? That will drop his stock more.

It’s an easier fight for likely a vacant belt. Munguia hasn’t exactly been matched tough. I doubt he faces Charlo tbh.

So if you are team Munguia, why in the hell would you fight him instead of Charlo? The Charlo fight is MUCH bigger and Charlo is a more known fighter. Pretty easy decision as long as the money is right.

I think he’ll probably fight Zhanibek for the vacant/interim WBO title at 160.

I will be cancelling my subscription, except for when Canelo fights from now on. If they are going to put Canelo no PPV then most likely isn't AJ will too. And why stop there? De La Hoya will put Ryan on PPV once he figures out how to get all his teeny bopper fans to fork over their money.
AJ will only be PPV in the UK I’d imagine.
I clearly recall for a few years now Hearn saying the bonafide stars the likes of Canelo or Joshua would likely have to be PPV. Most people don’t seem to have been paying attention. 2019:
He also repeatedly claimed “PPV is dead”. It’s not like there’s ever been a clear message from Hearn or DAZN.
I think they will because Munguia now won't be fighting GGG. So who is he going to fight? Andrade? Hell no lol. Charlo fight is a better styles match up and I think GBP will be fine with sending him on SHO PPV for that fight.
