Just wondering if Canelo keeps beating Champs will there come a point that Floyds biggest fans proclaim Canelo greater all time than Floyd(& Pac fans I'm asking too)?(I won't argue either way atm,as everyone's entitled to their opinion & currently they are neck & neck in many stats)
All I ask is don't turn this into a "clen doe" thread, just don't as I consider that irrelevant to this discussion
He didn't lose against Castillo so your first IF evaporated, he would have beaten all you named and then what would you be saying now, how he ducked Oscar and Mosley to fight them instead as nobody fights everybody, Margarito was a sloth and would be a counterpunching feast, it was internal politics and money as to why that never happened, and don't forget the Mosley that Manny didn't want was the one Mayweather beat right after Shane putt Margarito to sleep, that KO is why Manny wanted none of that, he waited till Floyd beat Mosley and after a draw with a B grade Sergio Mora, the Cotto Floyd beat would run right over the Cotto Manny beat, Manny wanted nothing to do with 154 Cotto, same Cotto is it lol/
Again you are trying to compare a puncher to a non puncher, its like saying my racehorse always beats yours to the first turn its only yours has longer legs in the straight.....50 times in a row lol
Anyone that thought Floyd was going to stop a 200lb young fella that just grabbed him has no idea, you would be surprised in how Duran would go now, and it all has nothing to with when they were prime fighters, you're just talking fan fluff,
They all play match-making games buddy, all of them.
I would've pay to see it, Duran supposedly knocked a horse out cold
To put things into perspective: what if he takes the L against Castillo 1... what now ? Marketability of the zero is gone so he has to take fights with prime unbroken Cotto, Prime Pac, Williams,Prime Margarito around the 09-10 era when he 'retired' and skips the round robin. Don't be fooled by randomness.
Lets put things more into perspective: what if Crawford puts on his ballerina dress and his Asics running shoes like Fraud.... Do you think he will ever lose a fight untill he is like 40 years old ?
And now the last one: Logan Paul gave a semi in shape Floyd the night of his life .... What do you think if that was 44 years old out of shape Duran ? He would just get up close on the inside and send that bum into next Week. Mayweather couldn't do any of that.
So to me there are levels and I would call him good, very good, but certainly not great.

You are back to style again, young Floyd was a killer, he moved up many weight divisions with frail hands what do you expect him to do stand there like a dummy or break his hand hitting a skull full force, he adapted and kept beating the best guys more than anyone else beat , he stood right in front of many of them and they still couldn't beat him, its lucky for them imagine Mayweather with Canellos power fck me he would kill people I don't think there was anyone more accurate for as long they been keeping records on it
Lots of fans don't like Mayweather but I don't know of a guy that actually boxed that doesn't recognize the greatness.

What Floyd has done in terms of skill display is not new. You think the greats of the past had no clue about that ? The difference is that THEY could do what Floyd could do and elevate that type of high level boxing by cranking up the pressure, cutting off the ring, walking their opponents down and they had the power to back it up.
UFC has never interested me, I do not enjoy watching grown man rolling around in a cage ...

I assume you have boxed yourself: what is harder ? Putting heat on an opponent and forcing him to make mistakes while being at risk of getting hit yourself ? Or always keep a safe distance and potshot to a UD.
The best fight sports for you is UFC, Rough n Rowdy, and the prelims to big fights 4-8 rounds, the great boxers are too skilled orientated, it's a strategic battle, not a club fight.
Your problem is you dont understand the pure essence that's inside boxing at the top level, it is more of a deadly chess match than flailing away hoping something lands, at the top make a mistake and its all over, so often great fighters against another great fighter is an anti climax because the skill set is so high nobody is willing to fully commit because they know the consequences of a mistake that that level.
You think Floyd is running lol, he is maneuvering opponents to where he wants them to be, he sets traps all over the place countering every mistake that he forces them to make, his control of distance, the way he would just step in a half step and have you smother yourself he could do such subtle things most are not aware of what he just did, his conditioning and work ethic was next level, why do think they cant run him over, why do think he shuts down the work rate of opponents to the lowest of their careers, truth is you cannot do what he did to the quality he beat and not be an ATG.
It's not smoke and mirrors its the sweet science and the average fan cannot see it.

Any fighter that comes for war, no PEDS, not trying to gain a huge weight advantage by cutting. I do appreciate boxing skills very much so however it has to be 'creating' instead of 'avoiding' the fight.

What's any different with Canelo's Mex fans trying to place him all-time top 10 with PEDs, rigged cards, rehydration clauses, special 155 weight class, only fights for pride, not belts when he has to face a style his flat-feet can't deal with which can be taken care of by rigged cards.
Not a fan of both for the stated reasons above.
pitty patty tapping, ducking, dodging, running, dancing, hugging, jointstinking, obnoxiously shyte-talking.... Yeah whatever you can call it great ... It is not my cup of tea...
He literally got rich because people wanted to see him lose, not because people tuned in for a good fight...... Can you say that about any other ATG ? That's right... he isn't a ATG but he is a HOFer.

Ok but Berto is better?
Old Pac is better?
Drained Canelo at 23 is better?
Victor Ortiz via sucker punch is better?
Ghost Guerrero is better?
Robbing Castillo is better?
Fukjng Marquez at the scales is better?
Washed up De La Hoya was better?
Maidana was better?
Overrated record bro. It’s not that special. What makes it a nice resume is that there is an 0 at the end of it, that’s it. That’s the main part of it.
Undisputed at 168 and 175 and grabbing a Cruiserweight title before retiring will leap frog Canelo.
I rest my case.
EASY wins over Pac, JMM and Canelo himself shyts all over Canelo’s resume. It is what it is.
Canelo's main problem is there are no ATG or even HOF level opponents during his era for him to fight.
Nah his real problem is that despite that he still avoids the toughest fights. Benavidez and Beterbiev might not be HOF fighters yet but they are viewed as top opponents which would gain Canelo a lot of credit if he fought them. He is a cherry picker.
Takes 2 to stink out the place and Manny played his part like a deer in the headlights, that's why they tried to sue Manny for talking it up large and ended up a big pile of hot air that couldn't do a thing. Maidana made Floyd fight toe to toe for 12 round Manny couldn't do it for one round, a lazer straight right-hand counter changed Mannys mind very quick.

I played it right back to the dude that did it to Canelo.
Every fighter EVER can have his resume dissected.
Every fighter has had close fights
Every fighter has robbed a fighter or two
Every fighter has ducked someone in their career. At least once.
Every fighter has gone life or death vs some gatekeeper.
Ali, Canelo, Oscar, Pac, Floyd, GGG, Chavez, Hagler, Duran, Holyfield, Tyson etc.
Yep I agree fully, that's why its the entire body of work that is the mark of greatness not a fight or two.
You have a fan argument you don't have a boxing argument, and a fan argument always has a built in rating system that has nothing to do with what's real.
Name your favorite legit ATGs and I will give you a fan argument showing how weak 90% of their resume is.

A past prime Floyd beat a past prime Manny as easy as he always said he would.
.
I don't care about what Floyd says I look at what he does, and what he did was fight and beat a past prime shopworn Manny. He don't get much credit for that.
Only card carrying Floyd Boys accept his excuses and defend them. Anybody whose been around isn't putting much stock into two past prime guys fighting. It was good marinating though
Not only is it not a no brainer, not real. That list of fighters plain aren’t good enough to put Canelo in the all time top 10 of boxing’s loooooooong history and won’t be enough to override Floyd who has an EASY h2h win, a great resume and retired undefeated. And Floyd isn’t top 10 either.

I disagree completely but it’s all good.
I think he beats them all and his legacy will leapfrog him, especially if he becomes undisputed at 175. It would be a no brainer.

If Canelo keeps winning, will "Floyds the goat"fans ever proclaim him greater(or Pacs goat fans)? | BoxingScene Community
