This shiii had me confused. I remember when everyone was calling Canelo to fight "pure boxers". He's fought 2 pure boxers in a row. Now, it's likely he'll be fighting Bivol next. Now, he's fighting another pure boxer, mind you everyone talked about how much he struggles with them. Now, everyone wants him to fight guys who can bang (Beterbiev, and Benavidez). Real fight fans know, that the fighter who gives Canelo the most trouble right now, is Bivol. Beterbiev and Benavidez are too open to trade shot for shot with Canelo.
I'll be honest, I'll be suprised if Canelo fights Bivol next, but if he does....give this man his respect, win, lose, or draw. A win against Bivol or Beterbiev puts him relatively high on the ATG list imo. These Canelo haters, can't except the fact that we witnessing a great fighter in his prime, fighting guys that are in their prime. Regardless of what some people say Canelo fought: Trout, Lara, Jacobs, GGG, Callum Smith, BJS, and Caleb Plant in their prime. All but two of those guys were undefeated at the time. A win against an undefeated Bivol, Beterbiev, or Benavidez makes this man an ATG for sure.
I just saw a post where a guy was hating on Charlo, Bivol, and Golovkin as opponent choices.
You gotta give that poster credit for his hater game. He's making sure ahead of time that no matter who Canelo picks he won't give him any credit for it.
Bsht! He let ggg pick the ref. Judges, gloves now you are just lying.
I dont count that fight because he failed a drug test. He should have been permanently banned from boxing, and GGG is guilty too. Anyone who took part in that fight is guilty.
No matter who Canelo fights his haters will poke holes at it. Either is Bivol, GGG, Charlo or Benavides it will be called a cherry pick or that they knew the guy was on the way out or some other excuse. His haters will make threads in how the opposing fighter will win and when they loose they will say it was a weak opponent.
If he beats Bivol they will say that Smith had him almost KOed, if it is GGG he is old, if it is Charlo was that he came up in weight and was too small, if it Benavides they will say he couldn't do 168 safely, etc. Even that CW that is much bigger than him they will already criticizing that fight.
The only two I can see that will give Canelo a very hard fight is if he goes up to 175 and fights Bivol and Betterbiev. They have the size and the skill.
That's not what the Canelo fans were saying before the fight.
People need to be consistent with their standards.
Like Bivol is by far the best opponent Canelo has faced since Floyd. If he wins, he'd be p4p #1 on my list. That won't change after the fight for me unless I out out Canelo put in a rehydration clause or some shady ****.
I never said that. Porter was a step up from Crawford's previous opponents, but not by much. He has been beaten by everyone when he stepped up and was on his way out.
Do you have the odds on that fight?
I highly doubt he would have better odds being that he's waaay more unknown than Kova, plant, Smith.
Sorry to break it to you but besides us boxing nuts no casual has ever heard of Bivol which is what matters when betting.
Casual fans aren't putting big enough bets to swing the odds. Maybe some are but they'd be really stupid to.
The more $$ you put down the more the odds move.
Kova was a +500 so clearly the fans knew that was a severely faded Kovalev, Kovalev would have been a heavy favorite back in 2017.
If casual fans want to be dumb enough to put big beats on Canelo at those odds (think $1000 on Canelo paying off like $300 if he wins), they would be an idiot.
Betting $1,000 on Bivol to pay off $5,000 if he wins is a massive steal.

At a known Clenelo weight of 172??? Why not 175?
Lol
People said the same thing about jacobs, kova, Smith(who was ring magazine lineal saw champ)and a giant at 6'4, bjs and the plant.A lot of people said those guys all had chances given they're size, skill etc.
Trust me when canelo school and beats up Bivol they will say the same thing "bivol was a cherry pick". Whe canelo beats Charlo they'll say the same that's why they are called haters.
The proof that that's wrong is in the odds - kova/smth/plant were +500 underdogs or worse, Bivol will not be that big an underdog.
A win over Bivol will be impressive if they fight. I'm not a Canelo hater, he's accomplished a great deal. I won't say he's P4P #1 or an ATG because I try to avoid those things. I wasn't alive nor did I witness many of the fighters that would potentially be on the list. As far as "A-sides" stacking their deck in their favor, I have a feeling that's something that has been going on since the advent of boxing itself.
As far as the critics, they will always move the goal posts. I thought Canelo lost the first GGG fight but he's obviously accomplished a great deal since then.
Bud only fought Shawn Porter because you all said he had to. You all said he was the boogeyman because he made spence go life and death with him. After the fight the tune changed to how washed up he was.
Props to Canelo for doing something similar finally, facing an undefeated very skilled fighter in a higher weight class that the fans said would be a real challenge for canelo, unlike everyone he's fought since GGG. And GGG was old and Canelo only fought him because he looked bad vs Jacobs. Don't believe me? Even Canelo admitted this, in the press conferences he kept saying how Jacobs clearly won and a win over GGG would be nothing special. So even Canelo admitted his best win isn't that good. Biviol is a much better boxer.
LOL Shawn Porter was shot and on his way out. Crawford needs to fight Spence/Uguas and move up to 154 and 160 and clear out the divisions if he wants to be considered p4p #1 and an ATG.

and bud is -2 LMAO...
No, Bud's resume destroys GGG's thats just fact, you're speaking in hateful rhetoric. Bud doesn't have any controversial wins, became a champion in 3 welght classes, undisputed at 140, wins over many top 5 fighters at his weights. GGG has 1 legit win over a top 5 (Lemeux) and only fought in 1 weight class. Bud is closer to Canelo than GGG, only difference is he never failed a drug test or hand picked an opponent.
I think people are just happy that he's finally fighting someone who has a chance of winning. Let's just hope there's no unfair advantages hidden in the contract like stipulations and clauses that allow canelo to use anabolic steroids.
He's finally doing what the p4p king Terence Crawford did when he took on Shawn Porter and if he wins in spectacular fashion can be a p4p king too.
LOL Shawn Porter was shot and on his way out. Crawford needs to fight Spence/Uguas and move up to 154 and 160 and clear out the divisions if he wants to be considered p4p #1 and an ATG.
He’s reached Mayweather territory, no matter who he fights he’ll be criticized by blind haters. But he’s racking up an all time resume.
Mayweather?? Lmao you must be trolling. If Mayweather's resume is a 10 and GGG's is a 1, then Canelo's is a 3.

I get your point. But those two "pure boxers" that you mentioned, are not at the elite level. They're not Erislandy Lara, the are not ggg, and he fought canelo past his prime, twice. What we want is for him, to go to the best fighter, at the weight he's campaigning. Don't go to lhw and fight a drunk, past his prime, and on top of that he has going 12 grueling rounds just 7 or 8 weeks prior, just because he had a name. We're not stupid. After benavidez lost his belt, he suddenly wanted to unify. With ggg, he rather vacate than fight him when he was closer to his peak. The guy has a good scouting team. Pros to him.

Exactly. Comes with the territory, once you are succesful people will never be happy and will hate on your success.
