They same way he waited to fight ggg until he was past his prime, Canelo and his team won't go anywhere near beterbiev. Why do you think he fought the weakest lw kovalev who's been koed twice and then been fighting euro bums like plant and smith. What would beterbiev do to smith and plant? They wouldn't last 6 rds. It's a bad match up stylistically, but canelo's team won't fight him until beterbiev is close to 40.
He has 6 fights against probable, possible, or already, HOFers on his resume. All of them were over the age of 35 when the fight took place, while he himself is not that old.
Have others done it before, yes. But as of recent, not as often. It helped him build his name, it helped him build his career, but it has also been noted that most of the big wins he has were against fighters who were aged. Moreso than the others you listed. Someone asked me to list them, i did.
It doesnt mean he isnt the best right now (he is). It doesnt mean he isnt an atg (he is). It just means when evaluating his career in a historical perspective we need to acknowledge that fact that i have stated, and use the information accordingly. We do the same when we look at Marcianos win over Louis, or Holmes over Ali.
There us no need to get defensive and deflect. I like and respect Canelo as well, but we cant be disingenuous or biased in evaluations.
Im not being defensive or anything but you are the one claiming that he picks old fighters and I’ve explained why most fighters do that. When Alvarez decides to retire from the sport and historians want to evaluate his career some of those “old” fighters on his resume won’t even be mentioned or do much for his legacy. You saying that he picks old fighters when it’s something that has been done for ages
Of course he fought this older fighters it’s what most young fighters do when they are trying to build a career. Everyone has done it from De La Hoya when he fought mummified Chavez to Pacquiao fighting mummified and drained De La Hoya and also fighting old @$$ Mosley. So how is it Canelo is only picking old fighters? Hell Kovalev fought an ancient Hopkins and GGG tried to get a one legged shot to $h1t Martinez to fight him :lol1: but hey it’s only Canelo picking old fighters

I'm not implying he waited on any of them (other than maybe GGG at the start). Rather that he fought them when they were old. You might be mistaking me with someone else, I'm just pointing out that he did pick off big names when they were older, not that he should have fought most of them when they were younger.

Lmao at this guy, so let me get this straight Canelo waited on Mosley, waited on Mayweather, waited on Cotto to get old? You can't make this $h1t up
So by your logic Alvarez should have fought Mosley at what age exactly? 17-18? When he was barely getting into the game? Mosley was old as hell when he fought Floyd and yet you expect a somewhat better version of himself when Alvarez fought him at the age of 22? At the age of 23 a green Alvarez fought the best fighter at that time in Mayweather so by your logic Alvarez should have fought him at the age of 19? By your logic Alavarez should have fought Cotto at the age of 21? As for the Golovkin fight the timeline was never going to match like most Golovkin fans wanted and when 3G couldn't get the job done he "old" already :lol1:
The only claim one can say is the Kovalev fight, you know the one where Alvarez went up a weight class to fight the bigger guy ranked one or two in that division without taking a tuneup. And don't forget that they offered Kovalev the fight and he decided to fight Yarde instead. But yes according to you Alvarez had all this planned out when he was 14 or 15, what a cherry picker he is :pat:

Cotto, Moseley, Mayweather, Kovalev, Ggg (twice). Six fights, most likely six of the top eight names on his resume (if not the top six), all fought when they were 35 or older.
Like i wrote, Canelo is the best fighter in the world, he doesnt need Beterbiev. But he does have a history of fighting big names when they are old.

Mark my words, Canelo will fight Beterbiev and Bivol before Beterbiev and Bivol fight each other.
Beterbiev and Bivol have been champions in the same weight division for years now, yet everyone is crying about Canelo.
Are Beterbiev and Bivol going to fight in 2022? Did they call each other out in their post fight interviews?
I told everyone I don't even think Canelo needs to fight Beterbiev, that's a gigantic step up from Plant. He can retake p4p #1 on my list if he beats Charlo or Andrade, which I think he will I just think those are tougher fights than Plant.

All the punchers Canelo has fought looked terrible their previous fight.
GGG - arguably lost to Jacobs. Many still thought he beat Canelo.
Kovalev - nearly KTFO'd by Yarde and Canelo still required a rehydration clause. Won 5 rounds against Canelo.
Callum Smith - got a robbery decision against journeyman John Ryder.
I don't expect him to fight Beterbiev next as he looked good against Marcus Browne and am honestly shocked he didn't rematch GGG after the Derevyanchenko fight.
Straight facts, he only picks dangerous opponents when they look vulnerable against bad opposition. Anyone who denies this is a straight up hater and disrespects the integrity of the sport of boxing.
Contrast this wth the p4p king Terence Crawford who fought Shawn Porter exactly because he gave Errol Spence absolute hell, the guy all the haters said belonged on the p4p list over bud.
That's good that you can admit it but the truth is that most people did think GGG would knock out Canelo, so did I, but after the Danny Jacobs fight most smart boxing fans did NOT think GGG would viciously KO him. Jacob proved to the world that GGG is just an average middleweight feasting on bums and that someone with speed and skill could beat him. Most people who know boxing saw this.
That's just not what happened.
Dontaesboxinnation made a full 30 minute video after the Jacobs fight saying how GGG had no chance against Canelo, in fact he was surprised that GGG was able to win the first fight. I was surprised too, I thought GGG would get outboxed badly.

I was one of those guys and can admit it.
I actually thought Canelo would get severely hurt in the first GGG fight. I know I'm a minority in this, but I thought Canelo lost the Jacobs fight. Oh well, I won't debate anyone on that as much as I would the Jacobs-G fight.
Any way, after he KO'd Kovalev, I officially became a believer. He's hands down the #1 boxer in boxing p4p. AB won't touch him.

Do you think Beterbiev will fight someone good though, before he's 39? Why is Canelo the only who needs to prove himself against top tier competition?
For real. Every single boxer here gets a pass, with soft touches. Boxers out here fighting no names.
This whole forum is “Why isn’t Canelo fighting this beast over here though????”

then he fought chavez jr at super middle because it was easy. same thing with beterbiev and makabu.
- - Sweet schedule you pick out, but Beter and Mak won't be easy.
The fight is going to happen but realistically not till the end of 2023. Canelo is going to end up fighting the winner of Bivol/Betervieb as his last big challenge and after that probably end up fighting twice more in 2024 before calling it quits
Not sure on the timescale but I could see that scenerio playing out.
If beterbiev unifies with Smith, as was originally mooted when Smith won the title, I could see canelo fighting the winner of that. Beterbievs style might actually suit canelo and make for a great fight
Pednelo cherrypicks the weakest links in every division. If he /his team suspect the entire division/weight class is weak he decides to make history and unify.. it is so fuking obvious. The guy is drug cheat and not that great it is disgusting how his fangirls believe in this orchestrated greatness
Bow down to Canelo lol. Put him on a pedestal.
The guy ducked Trout, Lara, GGG twice, Jacobs, Callum Smith, and was going to weight drain Kovalev.
Canelo waited so long to fight GGG, that when he fought him, Canelo was the underdog and all of the Canelo critics predicted GGG would KO Canelo in 6 rounds or less.
That did not happen so let’s move the goal post and say GGG was old and past prime. Lol. Canelo fought GGG literally one fight after getting the hang of fighting a bigger opponent in a gimme fight vs Chavez Jr. Literally one tune up after fighting Chavez Jr at 164lbs, he fought GGG, the #1 ranked Ring fighter and the WBC, WBA, IBF champion at 160. AND you inconsistent critics said he would weightdrain GGG to 155lbs. You were wrong every single time.
You all were dead wrong on your prediction of Canelo vs GGG I, and now you are forever salty because you all realize you all don’t know wtf you are even talking about half the time and suck at predicting fights.
Nothing on Canelos record says he doesnt fight the best. But what it does say is he fights a lot the bests when they are old.
