I have learned that a trainer from the United States is presently with Anthony Joshua, working on this upcoming rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. This trainer has worked with an ATG heavyweight in the past, and will likely make a lot of improvements with Joshua. This trainer is the one and only, Mr. Ronnie Shields!
Does this spell the end for Usyk?
He should be going out to RONNIESHIELDS not the other way round. He should be sleeping in a crack house in the states not a state of the art gym with luxury sauna and jacuzzi. In LONDON
We'll see how it goes. I guess everybody thinks the real issue is with AJ's state of mind rather than his boxing ability. Because of that, I think Shields can make a difference. If it were trying to get him to box differently, then this would or will be a disaster. You can't change muscle memory that quickly. It's nearly impossible.
Idk man, AJ does seem to do better in renatches so it seems. Let his fists do the talking and let's see what changes they can implement.
He's only fought a rematch once lol, and Andy Ruiz didn't prepare for that fight or offer anything on the night.
I didn't mind Miguel Cotto doing it while he boxed, but this Kevin nash out character deserves verbal third degree burns for that disgusting p4p list let alone anything else :lol1:
Lmaoooo....

I think Joshua lost the fight in training camp. He saw a cruiser who couldn’t handle his single shots and he was wrong. He also didn’t see a need to dictate distance or pace and that cost him. I think usyk is more skilled than Anthony, but that doesn’t mean he has all of the advantages. If Joshua can dictate when and where the fight breaks out, he has a much better chance at victory. I would say he should fight much like a joe Joyce, dominate the long distance and don’t allow the middle to be consumed. Easier said than done but it’s definitely possible
Good news. He needs a bit of American flair in his game, I'm British but I'm not afraid to say the majority of our Boxers have a robotic British style.
His biggest worry is his stamina though and I'm sure he already trains damn hard on improving that, not sure what Shields can do for him there.
I feel like your fighters need more grit and body work ala Mexican style (no offense). You get big points for body work as it’s inflicting serious damage to your opponent.
People put way too much into trainers. Its really the fighter. A good trainer just keeps his fighter disciplined. Thats why theres so many dads that have never stepped into the ring that beat world class trainers. They have disciplined kids.
Look at it this way, theres a thousand ways to skin a cat. Not all boxers stand the same, move the same, or punch the same way despite what others may beieve to be the proper way to punch.
When I think back to Ronnie shields I remember the Tyson Lewis fight. Ronnie had Tyson bobbing and weaving with the jab, that was the gameplan. After the fight the great Late Emmanuel steward (rip) said "C'mon man you expect that chit to work lol for Tyson at this point of his career?"
Tyson had a great first round. That was what tyson did in his prime, people forget how great his defense was, he was an aggressive counter puncher at heart. In his late years he was reduced to head hunting with one shot at a time.
IDK what other strategy he was supposed to use with a shot Tyson. I mean if he got him looking good for a round that is something. Tyson has T rex arms there arent many other styles suited to him. He not going to have him fighting like winky wright or something.
Lmao that's messed up .. I love people who talk in 3rd person

:lol1: That's a good point. It's a rare occurrence when someone wins a rematch after getting outclassed. But AJ is always dangerous. I'm curious as to how he's going to approach AJ. I know he said that he's going to make him use his physical advantages more, and I think he wants him to go to the body, throw shovel hooks and uppercuts more. I think that's the general idea.
Whatever the case, he need to let McCracken go. That guy wasn't doing him any favors.
This my main issue..
Joshua has to revert back mentally or try to outbox Usyk?? Two Hardy tasks.
When he rematched Ruiz all he had to was just out of him, while he did that he showed that he wasn't the same guy mentally. He lost his killer instinct.
Once you get beat up it's very hard to get it back, even the great Manny Pacquiao was never the same after that KO which imo killed any chance he had beating elite boxers like Floyd.
If Usyk wasn't so skilled, and also tough I would give more chance, but I just can't see it, especially after one training camp? Imo he should step aside and take a tune up to see if can effectively box better or get his killer instinct back instead of experimenting so to speak.
I don't think it will matter, this ain't Ruiz he rematching

Joshua needs to go to America and find tough tough sparring partners to bring the dog out in him. If he cannot find that inner strength then he will always have a confidence issue and will choke on the biggest occasions.
Ronnie Shields has a lot of good connections. After this initial stage, then we could see AJ fly out to the US or possibly fly some good sparring partners out to England. I definitely agree that he needs some tough, good sparring partners to make him sharper. That was one thing that Ronnie asked him when he first came over, whether he's willing to do whatever it takes, if he has the dog in him. That was one of the first things that he asked him and AJ said he did. Ronnie must have believed him.
I can't take anyone that has Christian hammer in a top 10 p4p seriously. You have a grandiose sense of self with this third person persona it's disturbing to say the least I get sexual predator vibes from you chocolate ga-nash

Ronnie has experience with Heavyweights but I don't know if he is the best choice stylistically for AJ when his issue is the lack of a Killer Instinct and Aggression
Good Luck to Him! Ronnie is a good Trainer but he is a good Trainer of Fundamentals and he can help improve AJ Jab but no he won't train AJ to be more of a "Killer"
