Kambosos is the legit champion no doubt but Loma is still the best fighter in that division.
I’d actually prefer Loma to go back to 130 though, Loma vs Stevenson really intrigues me.
I don’t see any way Loma won more than 6 rounds tbh man, I’ve watched it back several times. I gave Teofimo 6 of the first 7 and 12, and he won a lot of those rounds relatively clearly.
Yeah. That's fair. I'm not going to argue against that because that's the way judging goes. If the round's close, then you have to expect it going to the other guy. But my issue with the twelfth round is that the punch that everyone thought had hurt Loma was actually blocked. And that both guys landed a similar amount of punches, power punches. The difference, however, was that Loma was pushing Lopez back against the ropes and into the corners for about two minutes and fifty seconds of the three minute round. The other 10 seconds Lopez had Loma on the back foot. Now how does that work? That's effective aggression in my book, and that goes to Loma. And if you look at the 1 minute mark, give or take five seconds, you can see Lopez rocked by a three piece and has to clinch. His eyes almost rolled into his head. He looked hurt. So that's why I can't give the 12th round to Lopez anymore. That's me, however.
I don't know about that. Consensus? Maybe that's what the LOUDEST people say. But I remember a ton of people having it a draw. Ward. Garcia. Crawford. Atlas. Ring. A lot of people I know. So I just don't know about that. I think the loudest people were vociferous enough to change the narrative. But when I rewatched it, I can make a clear argument that Loma won, if I'm being honest here. I think if people score the fighting under the rules, then you have agree.

I really don't believe it is. You could make a poll if you'd like.
Well, I don't know how to post it, but out of 106 cards pooled together, it has Lopez winning 115 to 113, but that's if you give the second round to Lopez, which appears to be a swing round for many. But I judge a fight on clean, effective punching, and if a round can't be given on that account because it's too close, then I move to the other factors.
I think it was close but the right man got the decision. Between 7-5 to 8-4 Lopez seems to be the consensus.

I thought Loma lost the first 7. Put together 4 rounds then lost the 12th. I don't know another way to judge who the better fighter is between the two other than what we saw when they were in the ring together. Lopez said no to the rematch but he also seems mentally ill and basically said nobody was worthy of fighting him. He's hard to read.
I just think one guy really underperformed and the other really over-performed.
I had it close, 115-113 Lopez. I thought Loma won at least 4 of the last 6. I just think Loma badly got his tactics wrong on the night in hindsight.
Originally, I thought it was that because Lopez was so strong, powerful and skilled that Loma was so cautious to commit but after what Kambosos did I just think he got it wrong on the night. I just think Loma came out flat and Teofimo utilised an effective gameplan.

I’m starting to think Lopez got lucky tbh, I think Loma beats him in a rematch- I think that’s the reason the Lopez’s didn’t want it.
It was a close fight that definitely warranted a rematch, just as Mell vs Castano does. Having to have a major shoulder surgery soon after I'm inclined to believe there was some truth on protecting that injury in the early rds like he said he was. He realized he had to go for broke so to speak after the 6th rd because he knew he was down on the cards. Clear difference in activity between the first 6 compared to latter imo suggest that. There's a reason Teo was adamant about not giving him a rematch and I suspect it's because he knew he pulled off a miracle.
That's a minority opinion. There are too many professionals who saw that fight as a draw. Way to many. From Bud Crawford to Robert Garcia.

Idk if I can agree. It wasn't a very close fight.

Completely disagree tbh man. Loma has done way more than Tank and Haney at 135.
Loma has beaten 2 champions and 4 fighters ranked top 5 at 135.
(Linares WBA, Pedraza WBO)
(Linares #1/C, Pedraza #3, Campbell #4, Commey #5 per Ring.)
Haney has beaten 0 champions and 0 fighters ranked top 5.
Tank has beaten 0 champions and 0 fighters ranked top 5 at 135
He should have accomplished more than a guy who just turned 23. That's just a given. I feel like Tank had good opponents this year but he's not going down the right path of doing what you gotta do to get credit credit from the ring magazine types. He should have been in with better competition by now though.

If that’s how you chose to look at it. Remember Linares put Loma on his asz, and other than scare Ryan Garcia, Pedraza hasn’t really accomplished much and I rate JoJo and Cruz higher than Commey and miles ahead of Campbell.
You should change your handle from "just the facts" to "these are my feelings." :lol1::lol1::lol1:
As a light weight, Loma hasn’t accomplished anything more than Haney or Tank, he’s just been there longer. Lopez came out on the short end of a pretty good fight and if he’s right (physically and emotionally) you could easily make a case for him and that move to 140 might get reconsidered.
It's inane, absurd comments like this one that should cause the poster to be temporarily banned. Revoke their posting card so they have to sit and just read the forum. They'll never learn otherwise.
Now that Lopez is moving up?

Davis: goes 12 rds while losing a good portion of them vs an unheralded handpicked opponent who is smaller than him.
Ppl: wow!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loma: goes 12 rds while arguably losing one or two vs a former world champion&a proven puncher who is bigger than him.
Ppl: Yeah, we're unimpressed.

I still rate Loma as the #1 Lightweight in the world. | BoxingScene Community
