If you were managing his career what fight should he make?
I would have him fight Josh Taylor.
But as you know, I don't like Neofimo and I would love to see Taylor decapitating him.
That could work but a lot of unlikely (imo) things would need to happen first. I don't see Lopez having an easy time with Taylor, or Prograis for that matter. As for Kambosos, he's going to have his own difficulties at 135, let alone moving up to 140.
Wow, if it happened though, that would be quite a story.
I’m not suggesting it would be easy at all. I’m just saying the quickest path to getting through this is Taylor and then if you win rematch Kambosis at 140.
- - Some family mental health counseling so he can save his marriage if that is still possible. He and his fat daddy are just too unstable for career longevity at this point.
Then move up to 140 and lay the groundwork understanding 140s will be looking at him as easy meat after his Kambo meltdown.
At a minimum, Lopez needs to do some PR work to help his image ASAP. Put out a video congratulating Kambosos for being the better fighter that night and let the public know, he is going to refocus his talent to getting back to the top.
I think the boxing world can sympathize with the fact how bad his corner was and all the negativity he has had to have around him. If you watch the video on YT of Sr. Lopez talking 5hit, running up to Sr. Kambosos aggressively then getting punched, the video pans to Teo and he had literally turned his back to all the commotion and was walking away. I think he even doesn't like all that noise subconsciously but has to roll with it.
With corner changes and a refocus on being boring and staying in the gym, he can get back to knocking out whoever they put in front him and giving the fans exciting fights.
Long way to go for Lopez but he is at an intersection, which will set the tone and signal to the boxing world about how serious he is to take it to the next level.
Didn't he delete his Twitter? I saw he disabled the comments on IG.... I think he should either demote his dad as head trainer or have a serious talk with him. Anything else after that will work itself out.
not what you want to hear but dump pop's and relocate there are great trainers in California and get the hell outta Brooklyn take a timeout from the old lady (seems like she needs to get her head strait) if you could land the winner of JoJo Diaz and Devin Haney trainers other there great fights out there but you need a time out
Freddy Roach, Able Sanchez, Robert Garcia.Joe Goosen but get the fuck out of Brooklyn I'm still a fan by the way Mora did a piss poor job.
First thing I'd tell his is this..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz-2Xe9zc3o
Then I'd tell him to list to some JT Money
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bopxare4a4o
After he does all that then I'd advise him to take on a softie at 140 then go for a title eliminator. Don't look back at 135 whatever you do.
Seems the only thing people can talk about is his dad. Can we just start recommending names who he can fight next at 140? If you want him to take soft touches for his comeback fights, why not tell us who is on your mind, so we can start discussing those fights. To me taking fights that are equivalent to undercards are even more dangerous. Upsets are becoming rampant nowadays. What if loses again to a level C fighter? Nothing is certain in boxing.
Showing Teo Sr the way to the door and kicking his butt in the process... Sadly, Teo Sr would probably put a contract on him and Teo Jr would be dead within weeks... So that won't happen ...
Take a year off. Get your head right. Take a couple comeback fights at 140 and then target a vacant belt.
Exactly this. People are so impulsive lol they want him to fire his father and go straight to Josh Taylor to lose again. Lol!
Hes only 24, time is on his side.
Everyone stop suggesting he fire his dad, I’m almost 100% certain that isn’t going to happen. For better or worse. I mean his dad as idiotic as he is, did lead his son to all the titles against the best fighter in the world at only 23 years of age and 14 fights! Teo is not going to can his father. What I do see is Teo adding another coach, Joey Gamache again or someone else. That’s a good move and as narcissistic as Sr seems, I know he’s feeling the heat and will be make the right move to bring in help and be more subdued next at bat.
Take a few easy fights at 140, Teo is only 24 there is still plenty of time to make another run. He can fine tune some stuff and by then Josh Taylor will most likely go to 147. So the belts will probably be spread around and he can aim for one of the titles. No way will Teo go straight for Taylor nor should he really be expected to right now. Time is one Teos side, just depends all on his attitude and realizing the talent and potential he has if he sits back and corrects things.
start internally. get honest with yourself. get back to the roots that made you great in the first place. hard work. talent. belief. humbleness. family, hunger....keep it real. lose the things and the people that come with celebrity. the parties the sycophants, build up a team of professionals to get you back on track and your head screwed back on. your mouth and your thinking are running around unchecked. you need a great advisors from people who are already successful and dont really give a fcuk that your some kinda of wonderkid. you just got checked big time. but you learn the most from your losses. if you dont learn from this and make the adjustments .... youll never get it back

Not going back down, tell Kambosis to move up for a shot at the 140 lb belts.

Fire the dad, move to 140,relearn the basics of footwork,a good jab, and not underestimating an opponent. Spend the next 1-2 fights getting used to the weight and challenging people in the top 10,then challenge for a title.
This right here.
Are you suggesting if he beats Taylor (he won't) is to go back to 135 to try to avenge his defeat.
I must be misunderstanding because everything about that seems wrong. I think the only thing I've ever heard come out of Teo's Dad's mouth that is correct and logical, is that they need to move immediately to 140 and pass on the rematch.
