After seeing the Press between Bud and Porter, it was VERY lack luster and boring.
Do you think Bud Crawford has the potential to attract more viewers were his personality more enthusiastic and lively?
And,
What's your prediction?
Mine is Bud KO's Porter in Rd. 7
You're interested in who the better fighter is, huh?
You don't apply that same science to every fighter.
That's what you're not getting. Your bias is clear. You like this ONE guy.
Spoiler:
You are not who the promoters want at the shows, because they know you'll eat whatever crap they hand you anyway.
They want new money. At some point, you'll have to wrap your head around this truth.
There's a very important reason that TILL THIS DAY!!...Conor McGregor draws more money than anyone in UFC combined, despite losses and barely fighting. And it ain't his F'n matches.
I think you’re confusing me with someone else. I’m no Crawford fan but I accept the fact that he’s clearly a superior fighter.
What’s with your weird negative obsession with Crawford anyway?

Facts, I actually suspected dude as a Bud man fan. LOL.
All good though. But what you are saying is facts man regarding the sport.
I appreciate Crawford's no bs mentality. No circus act reality TV bs with that guy, he's an all business assassin in there. my only concern with him is his age, I'm afraid that he's pretty much over the hill by now or by the fight after Porter. It would be a shame if he clearly slowed down before we saw him in there with Errol Spence, who himself might be done too, and others at welterweight and super welterweight. The way his career has been managed is a travesty.
Concerning Bud over the hill I agree.
I been saying for a while (on my You Tube channel) that I definitely can see Bud retiring soon, maybe two more fights and he's gone.
And I doubt he fights Spence. He has said several times that Spence is past him.
Money is made from CASUAL fans.
They want characters.
We've seen it time and again.
Ali didn't get over with casuals because of the boring ass clinchfest that was Rumble in the Jungle.
He got over because of his mouth.
Facts, Ali was one of the best, or the best to do it
Neither is Crawford, since according to his promoter, hes a money loss leader.
So this narrative that all people care about is what goes on in the ring was debunked by Arum himself.
You need personality and character. Period. You are the minority. Stay in your bubble and watch your guy continue to suck at the gate because you aren't pushing him to do his job OUTSIDE the ring.
I mean that's the thing,
hardcore Boxing fans are definitely the minority.
I can care less about the business aspect but even me, who can care less about that stuff, understand that fighters have to be attention-getting in their approach and personality.
Crawford has a boring personality. Same as Spence. If they ever fight the press conferences will dull as **** with Spence's voice cracking all the time and Bud being soft spoken. But they're killers in the ring and should be a good scrap.
Yeah, but Spence is more attention-getting than Bud definitely.

Crawford is 1000x the fighter either one of two could ever dream to be.
It’s not a big deal. I’m just interested in who the better fighter is and you like the cheerleader/WWF angle.

You's a damn lie.
Ricardo Mayorga

Prime Julian Jackson
Prime Cory Spinks
Prime Zab Judah
Prime James Toney
Prime Roy Jones
Prime Jean Pascal ("WILL U TEK DE TEST, BANARD!?!")
Prime Chris Eubank
Prime Adrien Broner
Etc etc etc.
These are the guys who you remember decades after the fact.
Nobody remembers Freddie Norwood. Because he had no personality. One of the best fighters in the business and you'd struggle to remember a fight he had.
Nobody remembers Harold Sconiers except that he dropped Wilder. Yet that guy fought many who would go on to championship gold.
You've got to have a character. That's what sells bro. I don't care if you call yourself a real fan, you're lying if you say that you only care about boring fighters with no personality. You dial in because this guy over here is a trash talker and you want to see him get his ass kicked - because that's the personality.
I realize you have a hard on for Crawford but the reason why Norwood and Sconiers aren’t remembered is because they weren’t upper echelon fighters.
You can carry on about boring and all that WWF bu!!shyte but I’m impressed by what goes on when the bell rings.
You's a damn lie.

Very true!
Historically, Most legends, if not all, all mixed up the buildups of fights with a whole lot of charisma, enthusiasm and energy, Bud does NONE of that.
It’s part of the game. It’s prize fighting. You have to sell yourself.
Floyd didn’t start doing big numbers until he took on the money persona and started talking ****.
Before that he was known as a top P4P guy who was pretty quite most of the time. Haymon taught him how to sell himself like one of Al’s music acts.
That is facts.
So you're interested more in interviews than the fights, if a guy can really fight that's my first attraction the rest don't matter to me.
They train actors, they teach singers how to sing, they do makeovers to project an image, with boxers they say just go be popular, it doesn't work that way many need to be taught how to sell themselves and boxing promoters don't want to employ the right people to do that.

Floyd didn’t start doing big numbers until he took on the money persona and started talking shit.

Crawford strikes me as the quiet type, who keeps himself guarded in the public eye. Not good for promoting himself. That said, I don't think he will KO Porter. He'll win a close decision.
I feel you at quiet type.
Yeah he introverted, but in this sport, even if you an intro, you gotta show more life and enthusiasm.
Press conferences and that type stuff means little to me and doesn’t to many real boxing fans. I think Crawford win a well deserved UD in a tough fight where Porter has his moments.
Terence is an herb compared to Floyd
Floyd had opinions that go against the grain
Floyd was direct about wanting to fight Tsyzu ODLH Mosley and other great fighters
Terence does not care at all
Facts.
I mean, just by analyzing Bud's body language and how he talks, it kind of seems like he probably doesn't have much passion for the sport anymore.
Saw Crawford on Jalen and Jacoby on ESPN yesterday. Was sad. Those guy are trying to hype up the fight and Crawford is mumbling and bumbling like he’s half asleep. Anyone watching that interview had no reason to watch this guy fight.

He doesn't have to play the villian. He has to have a CHARACTER. It doesn't matter what character, he needs one.
You know it's bad when F'n Canelo is more interesting to watch interview than Crawford when that dude barely spoke English 3 years ago.
Say SOMETHING more than "we'll see Saturday night".
Here's Floyd talking about the need to do it to build yourself when you're young and unproven. Crawford is young(ish) and unproven. He's not Floyd. He's not close and never will be at this rate.
Floyd wasn't getting paydays until he turnt up. In his case, he was inspired by pro wrestling too and decided to become a heel.
But the point is you have to SELL your character to the fans or they won't dial in. Whether it's to cheer you or see you lose, you have to get them engaged with something.

Here's when Floyd was turnt up, telling the truth but cutting a promo to sell the fight. Even Gatti, slurring as he was, sold better than Crawford.

Thats is BIG FACTS!!
And in my original post, I mentioned nothing at all regarding Bud being some kind of villain.
You are spot on man, I agree.
These fighters got to wake the heck up and take notes form the legends from the past.
Most, if not all, legends knew how to sell fights in regards to their personalities and character
