So Canelo could very well go to cruiserweight and win a title. He could also legitimize Bridgerweight as other posters have mentioned. Well what about a showdown with Usyk at heavyweight. He is making legacy defining choices. Is it POSSIBLE he could go that far with it? Is it worth even trying if your Canelo? I personally have never been super big on the guy but I do respect what he can do. I may usually root against him but know he will probably win the fight.
he wouild go nowhere near usyk i dont know why people are even talking about that. usyks would beat him anyway even if they were the same size, he'd box rings round him.
But what if he does fight Usyk and beats him, then what?
GOAT?
Canelo is 5'8" little man, he is no cruiser or heavyweight.
His ability is tremendous and that's why he can compete in akward matchups.
I believe he can beat Makabu, specially if he can bring Makabu under 190lbs, which I am expecting
At heavyweight he could beat Charr or Bryan, some other B level guys, slow or quite flawed technically.
Thing is, at this higher weights, if Canelo is hit flush, it can end very bad for him, even end his career.
IMO, a fight with Beterbiev would already put him in this position, and we are talking LHW
Yep. Does he want to become the next Dwight Qawi ( slightly taller though) ? You can only pack so many pounds on a 5 foot 8 frame. He looks like he is maxed out without getting fat. He is a tremendous at 160 to 175 lbs.
Canelo is going to fight a guy at 190 who hasn't fought at that weight for many years. It's almost like a catchweight but in this case you can't blame Canelo for it, he's just taking advantage of an opportunity.
Let's not get carried away and start talking heavyweights.
Canelo must beat the shit out of Sanchez and Ruiz for the confidence to seem so high.
I see big guys spar small guys all the time. If theres a big skill difference in favor of the small guy of course he will win BUT as the rounds go by and if the big guy dont tumble, than the weight starts to become a factor. Also it is boxing and 1 punch can change a fight.
So despite what anyone says, its still a dangerous fight.

I think he could do what Roy did and beat a lesser Champion, let’s say a Charles Martin type wins a vacant title, Canelo could beat him.
He’s not beating the top HW’s like Fury, Usyk, Wilder etc though.
Agree with this.
Alvarez is not fighting anyone who is a risk to beat him.
Saul learned his lesson with the 2 Golovkin fights and said "No Mas" to a 3rd fight in order to move up and "challenge" himself vs Fielding.
