Eddy Reynoso: Canelo vs Makabu (May 2022) then Canelo vs David Benavidez (Sept 2022)

If the fight is in the fall, Benavidez should pick up a belt at 175 against Bivol or Beterbiev. He should bring something to the table and not be the opponent that snorted coke, missed weight at the scales, lost his belt twice and fought bums on his way to fight Canelo.

Can't complain. He's keeping active and Benavidez is a fight people have asked for. I wonder if going up and down in weight will catch up with him at some point.

The WBC recently introduced an 18th weight class, bridgerweight (limit of 224 lbs) and reduced the cruiserweight limit to 190 pounds. I’d guess there will likely be a catch weight. Canelo (who walks around at 175lbs) will probably come in a little over 175lbs...it's do-able. Whoa, the bridgerweight bs was real? This is horrible

Canelo moving that kinda weight that quickly is not smart, Benevidez may have to change his name to Tarver.

I think it's good for Benavidez...gives him time to focus and prepare for Canelo if it's true, to come in at his best ever (providing it ever happens...I'm somehow skeptical).

Why not do it the other way round? Benavidez first then Makabu. He beats both IMO anyway.

Canelo really wants to win that belt before someone less beatable can take it off Makabu. That's the only reason to do this fight on Cinco De Mayo.

Isnt the fight at 190 and not the full limit? That hasn't been confirmed, but even if the fight takes place at 190, going back down to 168 is a mistake. You can jump two classes and go down one. Jumping two and going back down two is usually very detrimental to your career. Respect history and go to 175 after Cruiser. The boxing gods have made it clear over and over that if you jump two classes from one fight to the next, immediately jumping back down two classes is a mistake.

I think going back down to Super Middleweight after moving to Cruiserweight is a big mistake. Win or lose against Makabu, Canelo should campaign at Light Heavyweight and try to win a proper title there. Isnt the fight at 190 and not the full limit?

Dude better be careful to avoid Roy Jones-ing himself lol history has shown that massive weight cuts isn't too friendly to fighters, especially if that weight is mostly muscle
