When Undisputed Isn't Undisputed

Disagree on Canelo. He is undisputed. Agree on Teo. He is factually not undisputed. Loma dropped the WBC belt.

Canelo is clearly undisputed. The real mess will come if Tyson Fury has to fight a mandatory one day and he drops the WBC belt, then the winner of Usyk/AJ fights them instead. Imagine that, a 4 belt undisputed champion... But doesnt hold the Ring belt (unless Fury is stripped for not facing his mandatory)

The Teo/Haney things is such a mess caused by WBC. Teofimo should be the undisputed champ, but technically isn't unfortunately. Although Haney didn't win the belt in a fight, for me he did earn it beating Linares. Teo knows his name isn't written in the books yet as Undisputed. If he really wants that, he should just fight Haney. I sure as hell would. ​ It's the other way round. Haney needs to beat Lopez if he wants to be a legitimate Champion.

I know we call it Undisputed when a fighter holds all 4 of the major belts. However, as a true fan I think that's not always the whole story. And, when those exceptions exist, we as fans need to be more vocal about it. Terrance Crawford was undisputed at 140. While some may argue that he didn't fight EVERY credible Jr welterweight, the ones he did beat represented the top of the division. No one would argue much that Bud defeated the second best 140 pounder in Postol. Josh Taylor is undisputed now. Again, by beating Prograis he undoubtedly defeated the next best man in division. Usyk became undisputed by beating the best his division had to offer. He did so in convincing fashion against arguably the next TWO best in his division These three are examples of true undisputed champions. Well, currently we have at least two boxers calling themselves undisputed who are anything but.. Teofimo Lopez is calling himself undisputed when he hasn't even won all four belts. Someone needs to explain to him that the Franchise belt he won off Lomachenko is not THE BELT...Devin Haney has that. He cannot be undisputed until he takes THAT belt. And someone needs to explain to Canelo that, while the history books will indeed call him undisputed, real fans know that he didn't defeat the best super middleweight to get those belts. While he did knock out Caleb Plant who IS very good, his avoidance of David Benevidez is very noticeable and belies the very idea of undisputed. He needs to stop worrying about beating the weakest cruiserweight and handle that unfinished business. If he doesn't, that avoidance will also be a part of his legacy. Tank has the Regular WBO at 140, Barrios before that. Pretty much the same as Haney's fake WBC Belt. By that logic is Taylor undisputed?

Canelo moving up two weight divisions to fight another belt holder has all the hater's blood boiling. Teo is not undisputed. Undisputed means that there is no dispute. Haney holds the WBC lightweight belt while Teo holds the "franchise" belt. The WBC created this mess by creating this "franchise" belt. It is not clear who the real WBC champ is, thus, there is a dispute. Teo is not undisputed. Canelo is undisputed at 168. like it or not. dont lose sleep over it.

This aint it chief. Well, then explain how Teo is undisputed. The guy who had the belt (Loma) gave it up rather than fight the mandatory (Haney), then some OTHER guy (Teo) comes along and beats the guy WITHOUT the belt (Loma) then somehow starts claiming he's undisputed? Where do they do that at? And while you're at it, Benevidez lost his belt on the scales, not in the ring. He was stripped. Traditionally when that happens the former champion is given a quick path back to a title shot. But instead of David getting a try at his belt back, they let Smith and Canelo fight for the vacant? Then don't even make Benevidez mandatory for the winner? That's their former champion! If you're right, if "this ain't it" then it's sad af as to what "it" actually is. This is why casual sports fans can't connect. Too much BS. At least pro wrestling never tries too hard to to pretend it's not scripted...
