It was recently announced that Conor Benn will be fighting Chris Algeri in December.
I think Conor could do better than that regarding a next opponent but, I respect Chris, got decent skills.
Do you think Cono can acheive world title status in the division soon?
Your thoughts.
I'd like to see Benn vs Ortiz Jr or Boots myself. I agree I see him folding like lawn furniture once he takes on a real threat
After this Algeri fight, Benn better step it up and stop playing with this type of competition.
It’s ridiculous isn’t it, Hearn is talking like it’s 2010. :lol1:
None of those guys have been relevant for years.
Benn is such a w***sta, you ain’t from the ghetto you’re from a gated community. He’s a clown man.
Wow,hahaha.
Yeah, looks like Benn is trying to give that kind of 'tough guy' impression to attract fans or something.
He'll probably get a title shot at some version of a world title. Mainly because of his name.
Let's face it if he wasn't called Benn, nobody would give 2 ****s about him
Very good point.
Kind of reminds me of Ali's grandson, he is being WAY TOO hyped up because of the name he carries.
He acts like a proper geezer doesn't he :lol1:
Also acts like he's fought some murderers row when he hasn't fought anyone in the Top 10. Avenesyan would be his first and Eddie Hearn is talking about Amir Khan or Adrien Broner
Vargas is a nothing fight and Granados is a fringe contender at best, possibly a Top 20 Weltweight (Pushing it really)
Hearn was talking about Guererro and Victor Ortiz and acting like they were big fights :lol1:
Wow,
pretty lame names for Benn. Benn has to wake up and smell the coffee beans and fight more decent competition and real soon.

He’d get absolutely killed, I genuinely think the British Champion Ekow Essuman beats him.
It’s bullsh**! Another past prime Light Welterweight… Who’s next Corley? Vivian Harris?
It sums up Benn’s fraudulent career, consistent low risk BS matchmaking. He’s never fought for a real title and has consistently avoided domestic rivals
Southern Area: No
English: Rejected a BBBofC ordered fight with Isaac McLeod.
British: Turned down a fight with Chris Jenkins for July 2020.
Commonwealth: Same as above.
European: Clearly wants no part of Avanesyan who has been calling him out for months.
I’m f*** ing sick of the spoilt rich kid talking like he’s some road man killer when he’s yet achieve anything notable in the sport.

I’m getting really sick of them digging up bodies for Benn then trying to con us into believing he’s “world level”. It’s just BS. Why can’t he fight a McKinson? Essuman? Avanesyan? They’re all good fights too.
You got a really good point.
I mean mainly because a lot of fans out there buy into the lame hype with a lot of these fighters who aren't stepping up to competition according to their level.
And these promoters make weasel, sleezy moves like this.
I understand your viewpoint definitely.
Chris Algeri is not an ideal opponent for Benn to prove something.
I hope after Chris, Benn gets his head in the game and fights a real opponent.
Mind you, I respect Chris but he is way low tier according to Benn's momentum.

Cant see it ! Ortiz and ennis are rounnd about the same age and more talanted . i expect them to take over the division once spence and crawford are gone. So i dont see where benns getting a belt from.
Good point, They aren't the only names though.
We also got Cobbs, Stanionis and a couple more out there. But yeah Ortiz and Ennis are the ones who will definitely be reigning in the division once Spence and Bud leave it.
And I see Spence and Bud leaving the division soon. I actually think Bud retires soon too.
Yet, I think at least Benn will be a top contender if he doesn't make champ status.

- -Two bit punk riding Daddy's jock strap. JCC Jr wannabee.
I don't think Conor is very good at all to be honest
I mean, I think he has the potential to grow and improve on his skills.
If he doesn't show that against Algeri, I will start doubting Benn.
Algeri? He is still boxing? wow
Exactly, no one is looking out for Algeri man, I was not excited at all in this fight announcement.
Benn can do better than that man
Not too much of a difference between Algieri and Granados aside from styles but they are essentially the same tier in terms of where they are at in their careers. It's a quick turnaround so I'm eager to see who they'll try to go after should he beat Algieri
Exactly.
I am anticipating who Benn fights after Chris, I see this a lopsided matchup with Benn KOing Chris.

I don’t see this fight being that difficult. When was the last time Algeri fought? Benn is being moved the way he should but he doesn’t have elite abilities….It will show once he faces someone in the top 10. I’m rooting for him though. He seems like a hard worker and eager to learn.
Very well said.
I am very along the lines of your perspective as well. I personally think Algeri was not the best pick but I get it, they are trying to build Benn's reputation and all.
I like Algeri's footwork and style though, it does kind of intrigue me to see how Benn will fight a boxer like Algeri.
yeah the kid will be world champ within a few years, hes a star in the making. i dont see algieri causing him many problems
Right, I mean, I understand the whole star thing. I do see him being a champ but not so soon. Or at least top contender.
I like Benn, yet I think he could have taken a better opponent than Algeri. We'll see who's next after Benn gets Chris out the way.
