You’re backwardS bro As loved as Chavez was he’s a known dick. Go watch some YouTube interviews of him he’s constantly giving attitude to them and even cursing them out. Lol
chavez has always been a bit of a hot head.
Okay fair enough. Still Senior is older now and surely softened somewhat. Theres no scenario either care to have dinner with a nobody gringo just cause I’m a boxing fan anyway. Would I tell Senior “My dad said you fought a lot of taxi cab drivers… you were lucky to get a draw vs. sweet pea…” I suppose I’d bring going in more blind with Senior. Still I know Canelo would find a way to brag how much the restaurant loves him. His favourite dish isn’t on the menu but they will make just for him, and he’d order it for you also. He’d make corny jokes his entourage would all laugh at and you would be expected to also. There’s a lot I admire about Canelo but he’s not casually charming. He has to give you all the details on why something he has is special. He has to tell you what he owns is rare. He forces everyone to listen to him sing. Has anyone ever heard him state anything he’s not good at? Is anyone around him willing to beat him at anything? Watch his latest YouTube video for GQ. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t fault him, and even get a kick out of the way he is. I just don’t expect anyone is that close to him really. I mean he gets called “A mother f*cker” and he pretends to take it to actually literally imply his own mother. Meanwhile he signs off every fight with “Cabrones!!” That’s Canelo.
Chavez. Source - Most Latinos I know lol
We shall see what happens when Canelo closes his book on his career. He may be up there when it's all said and done, barring any embarrassing defeats or anything of that sort

True, plus Chavez has always had ties to huge mob guys like El Chapo and the Arellano Felix bros, not a guy to take lightly.
What’s this about
I’ve heard it before
That Alvarez doesn’t have the highest approval rating in Mexico
He has a lot of detractors mainly because of his perceived cherry picking, catch weights, rehydration clauses, and oddly enough many label him as "stuck up" lol. The clembuterol situation didn't help matters but it also didn't really make anything much worse as it is common knowledge across Mexico that many cattle ranchers shoot their cattle up with that stuff.
EDIT: Almost forgot, dropping the belt he got off of Cotto pissed a lot of people off.
Has the Alvarez popularity overtaken the 90s Julio Cesar Chavez?
As a Mexican my answer is....... it depends. If by "popularity" you mean ratings-wise, then certainly a comparison can be made. If by "popularity" you mean love and admiration, then no. Canelo is a very polarizing figure in Mexico......on the other hand, Mexican-Americans are the ones who seem to be all onboard with Canelo.
And to answer the title of the thread, the answer is simple. JCC.
