You don't plan two moves ahead when it comes to Fury.
Steve Bunce was pretty adamant that Usyk wanted the rematch clause. Backing himself to win two huge fights.
To be clear, if a mandatory signs a rematch clause is the mandatory selling it. They're under no obligation to accept such a clause.
Do you actually think Fury would go straight to fighting either of them right after getting kd twice in last fight? Let alone after AJ getting schooled & having no belts?(casuals still know belts & want to watch undisputed even if 1 guy(Fury has to sell it)
On differnt note . . . Do you think Usyk can beat AJ twice or is AJ going to be another SRR who makes his living off winning rematches?

No I don't think that - I think Fury doesn't want to fight either of them. - I guess were we disagree is how much the belts count to the casuals.
Because he wanted two big paydays, pretty simple.
If Joshua vacates and Usyk fight joe blow for the title, how much money would he earn compared to fighting Joshua twice?
That's all I'm trying to say.

Of course I understood how a rematch clause works - he guarantees himself two fights only if he wins -
What you don't see is that this guy has NO leverage over anyone - even right now after the win over AJ he is the odd man out - casuals barely know his name -
If there was no rematch clause AJ right now might jump right into a Fury fight - other than people on forums like this no one would care they would still buy that fight -
The scantioning bidies have made themselves less important by creating too many belts - they really no longer mean anything - it is, and has always been, whether you can put assess into seats- this 'Russian' guy can't do that *** -
With or without the clause he will get the better half of the % with an AJ rematch - the clause will not change the split - had there been no clause and he tried to take more than offered he would be squeezed out - the casual don't know his name or care about him - you have to realize the rest of the world does not see the fight game as we do and we don't make up enough of the population to carry a HW fight economically- we need the casuals
*** I know the guy is actually not Russian - that's the point - to the casuals they are all just 'Russians' he is just another one whose name no one can pronounce - too most casuals you could actually switch fighters to another 'Russian' whose name starts with a U and they wouldn't notice.

You're missing the point entirely"he didn't guarantee himself 2 paydays by signing rematch clause" because it only applied if he won which he was 100% sure he would in his mind.
Had he not had the clause he would have all the leverage over both AJ/ Fury & if AJ was the highest bidder he could still fight him again anyway (but hed get lions share as AJ wouldn't have any other choice but to pay up) & he would have the choice to go in whichever direction he wanted that was best for him

That's the other thing about accepting the clause he guarantees himself two big paydays - the second fight against a guy he already beaten. Does not look like a bad decision to me.
The way games are played without the clause he could find himself with the title and Fury not interested in him - could waste months if not years chasing a fight.
Pre AJ only people on this forum knew who he was and only some of them.

Considering his situation and the fact he has made peanuts his entire career i do not blame him for signing the rematch clause. He has secured his family stability for life. Could he be in an even better position? Absolutely but he has not done too bad. Now he has millions in the bank to match his skillset. If he lost the fight it would not have made the slightest bit of difference so maybe he was paid extra for accepting a rematch clause as you rightfully addressed there didn't need to be one

So you're in agreement that Usyk made a bad business move then? Ukrainian machismo has now screwed over 2 fighters with the same trainer.

And you actually believe AJ would vacate & be ridiculed for eternity over a rematch clause?
He would be right where he started by beating Fury if Usyk had the Wbo
Yes in a NY minute - casuals who make up the bulk of the PPV don't think like fans who write on this forum. Your opinion does not count as much as you would like to think.
Probably because he didn't want to miss out on a big payday and risk Joshua declining the fight and tossing his title into the trash like Bowe.
I guess I got around to saying that quite late.
I recall Eddie saying we will fight Usyk but if he wants to silly and not realistic with his demands we dont want but we will drop the belt. (a bluff im sure) however, i believe Usyk was more concerned about securing his bag than being bothered about fighting Aj again. Fighting AJ again means more money.......where do i sign?

Ruiz played hardball despite having a rematch clause,& he still got rewarded extra for it,& then he lost because he was too fat to chase AJ in a handpicked ring & ref. Usyk should've learned from that & been smart enough to see that he who holds the royal flush has all the leverage.
Had Usyk not had a rematch clause he could have had AJ/Hearn by the balls pretty simple actually

Because AJ is/was popular enough to walk away from the WBO - scantioning bodies are either bullies or b-itches depending on their position.
Your other guy wasn't a HW Champion who can command millions of PPV buys - so he did as told.

Its a mandatory fight that AJ was forced to take. Normally theres no rematch clause for mandatories, just look at Porter v Crawford.

What did Ruiz do. He was not even in a mandatory position so a rematch clause was in place. He won the first fight and was dictated where the second fight would be. He turned up and lost.
i believe Usyk and his promoters have good communications with Eddie. I hear what you are saying but when you have ultimate believe in your skill Usyk realised if he wins his life has changed and if he wins the rematch well.....

My point is that it was a dumb move to be forced to rematch AJ with a set in stone split where he doesn't get lions share. Its always better to have leverage in business, regardless of whether Fury lost,Usyk could've had all the belts & played hardball. Just look at Andy Ruiz who Usyk should've learned from
