I don't know how it's possible but Wilder went from having a mediocre, sometimes reasonable, and powerful shot, to a crooked, slow, and weakly tap. The last time I saw decent jab from him was Wilder-Fury 1.
My only explanation is that he spent time on other things to overcome the various challenges Fury posed for him.
I also believe that Wilder is past his prime and that may have contributed.
You can read earlier accounts from fighters dated a few years back, that Wilder had an underrated jab.
To be clear: You can throw a crooked jab, you can even throw a slow one, and a weak one. But all in one? That's not a passable shot.
Name a fighter Mike tyson knocked down who wasn't knocked down by others. He failed to KO both Bonecrusher and Mitch Green, both of who'm got TKO’ed later by skrubs.
Larry Holmes had been knocked down by Mike Weaver and Earnie Shavers prior to Tyson. Maybe other too. Spinks took a dive..Marvis Frazier was knocked out by Larry Holmes... You know, that power puncher.
You can do this all day.
But the guys Tyson was KOing were still world level opponents. My point is Ortiz has one mediocre win on his resume, that's not enough to claim Wilder is the geratest heavyweight puncher ever.
And just so you know lil boy, Tyson isn't regarded as the greatest puncher either, many people bring up Foreman and Shavers as superior.
bro ortiz came up as a cuban heavyweight in the amateurs. those guys can all flat out ****ing bang. they box amateur as grown ass men. in the weight classes they're all spoilers but at HW they're out there to ****ing kill you :lol1:
Including Ortiz...
To be fair, Ortiz two best wins are Jennings and Allen. He hasn't really fought anyone with the ability to KO him cold like Wilder. Saying that, Wilders power is not overrated in my opinion. That's one thing he definitely has in abundance, along with grit and durability.

I want the deniers of Wilders power explain to me how he was undefeated for 40 fights... If that power isn't of a different world.
Forget technique, the dude isn't even a good fighter. He lost most rounds he ever fought.
He does hit hard but the subsequent weight gain and weight lifting is causing him to tire faster and it’s slowing him down. He still hits hard but he doesn’t look like the dynamic powerpuncher of even the first Fury fight. That Wilder was better IMO. Someone put in his head that muscles=harder shots and it’s ruining him.

I think he wasn’t only powerful but was fast and had a decent engine that allowed him to lose rounds and comeback with a knockout as his opponent tired and he waited for the right opportunity. The weight gain and body building is slowing him down and literally ruining what took him as far as he came.

yeah those guys are delusional. he dropped fury 4 x. the guy has unreal punching power. he's one of the five or ten hardest punchers ever and that is not up for debate.
could be a lot of reasons for that. i think the big one is that he's in charge in his camp. wouldn't let scott stop the fight when he was flat out fucking dying. fired breland for stopping a fight and had him alone in the hallway outside of the dressing room and crying. wilder never learned to box outside of a very novice level. at HW you can get away with basi9cally anything when you're 6'7", fast, and have one of the best right hands ever. until you run into tyson fury, who can take your shots and get back up, and then box your doors off and kick your ass. wilder is the very embodiment of a one trick pony.
the best he ever looked was the first stiverne fight. broke his hand early and relied on his jab and circular motion to win the rounds with boxing. i thought he might have turned the corner in that fight. but he went backwards and i was wrong.
If it's overrated, how did he manage to KO Ortiz stiff who has never been on the canvas in his life? He also hit him in the F*n temple

I remember him jabbing Stiverne to little bits when he won his title.
T'was a good performance.
Good angle. I thought it was a cross fury threw but it's actually a hook

Who did Ortiz ever fight? His best opponent pre Wilder was Jennings. No one has any idea how good his chin is.

A World Champion in Boxing should have a better jab than a casual like me.
It’s every bad for the sport if Wilder had beaten Fury. Let's hope Wilder was an outlier at that level.

Fury saying Wilders jab in their first fight almost broke his hand from blocking it. I think I know where that was. Wilder sometimes used a torque when jabbing.

I saw him have a good jab once, and that was against Bermane, who was much smaller guy. Wilder has nothing but power and even that power is overrated.
David Haye said that Wilder has one of the most impressive chins. So that too..
The thing about Wilder that amazes me, much like Ngannou, is that even their balance and coordination is poor. It's not even mediocre, it's downright poor.
