His movement in the second and third fights with Tyson Fury seems very odd to me. As soon as Fury clipped him and started rough-housing him, it seemed both times that Deontay's legs and/or back just gave out. No balance, no strength, no solid base. Why is that? Is it injuries? Wear and tear from a long career? By his own admission Tyson isn't a massive puncher. Seems very strange to me. Or is it just a credit to Tyson for having this effect on Wilder?
His balance is just bad.
We have already seen that in first Ortiz fight, haven`t we.
I am not surprised he has two KO losses to Fury. Imagine what would bigger puncher do to him.
Wilder should retire in next 2-3 fights. he made a big money, he had a good career, this sport is dangerous for him.
What's the main difference between the first fight and fight 2 and 3?...
He was consistently getting hit and having to move backwards, fighting at a higher pace then comfortable with, as opposed to forward at a pace he is comfortable with, guy can't move back and further exasperated by the fact that he was hurt regularly in both fights
It was the jerky nature of his movement. Wilder is quite flat footed but he did not have the type of balance issues he clearly had in Fury 2 and 3. in fact, in the third fight he came forward a lot but he was lunging and bouncing up and down in an odd, jerky way. It may be that this is the only opponent who has had height on him so he found it difficult to reach without the required technique.
Wilder is fine, still beats most of the other Heavyweights with that Power but Fury just too big and too skilled for him
we learned last night with Wilder and Efe that Power alone is overrated AF...Skill Pay The Bills" and Frank Sanchez and Tyson Fury are very skilled BOXERS, as well as Usyk
He got tired early. I feel he was heavier than usual and never acclimated to the weight, even in the 2nd fight. 230+ ibs is not his weight. I think he got heavy in a short period of time too. If you notice his previous face-off with fury a few months back, he looked leaner. There is also ring rust. His chin is actually better than expected. He took hard shots to his chin and temple, yet he lasted that long till he can no longer take it. He has a huge heart too.
If I am being honest, fury himself looked sluggish at 277 ibs...
Wilder has moved very odd in the last two fights, he moved a lot better vs Fury I and earlier fights. There is probably some underlying injury.

I think he may still be suffering from PTSD from that second fight. Remember, he took a real beating over those 7 rounds.
PTSD is something that can affect someone both mentally and physically. Plus Fury rising from the dead in the last round of the first fight also hasn't done him any good psychologically. He's basically lost faith in his most powerful (and some might say his only!) weapon in his arsenal.
His management team are next to useless too, they're about as useful as a chocolate teapot tbh. He needed at least one tune up fight before either the second fight or the third fight to build up that faith in his right hand again and his general shattered confidence.
Many ppl thought Wilder should not have come in heavier in the second fight and that he should of stayed light and explosive. He put mass on his upper body but not his legs. Then comes the third fight and he puts even more mass on his upper body. Coming in at career high weights while having a bigger guy lean on him tired him out. I think ppl were right after the second fight. He should of stayed light and explosive. When you factor in Wilder talking about bench pressing to prevent Fury from leaning on him you can see that he did not prepare properly for that. He should of been mentioning squats or whatever leg strengthening exercises he did to prepare for that.
at his age it is impossible to put 20 LBs of muscle on without PEDs
He's always said he does no roadwork. I can't help but think this guy's early trainers really failed him.
That's insane! Come to think of it, I've never even witnessed him do any running, treadmill or anything.
Yeah, this day was bound to come. Then adding the muscle on top of that!? Really poor preparation and strategy.
Maybe he should have picked up running during training like 99.9% of other boxers :dunno:
- -Maybe U should stop picking stuff out from U arrears.
No survey exists to show how many fighter use running as a key component of training. How many fighters had fights and careers killed from poor running technique injuries?
As I have mentioned , I will wait to see Wilder fighting somebody else to make a conclusion.
But I am aware that this trilogy took a lot from him.
Wilder started to fight elite guys too late and maybe he is over the hill already.
He looked sluggish from the opening bell.
If you watch his fights from a few years ago when he came in at 215-225 he looks significantly more sharp.
Could also be his age.

theres different types of power. Fury is underpowered for his size and we can see that Wilder ate a lot of his shots. But fury still has that mass behind his shots, a 277 pound trained fighter is still going to hurt and wear you down. that combined with all the leaning on him can really weaken you.
but yeah i know what you are talking about, sometimes wilder just stumbles around without good balance. idk what is causing that. I think its fatigue but its even in the early rounds. Wilder did have a bloody left ear at the end of this fight, the commentators never mentioned it, but if his ear drum got busted then that effects his balance.
