Some MMA fighters are "strike" orientated, some are wrestle oriented, some are take you down and jiu-jitsu orientated. Belfort at his best was strike orientated. He would ran down punches on fighters. Probably had pound for pound the fastest hands in MMA history.
That being said a guy like Holyfield with a great chin, great heart and great counter punching would beat Belfort in both of their primes in an MMA match. I could see Holyfield losing to a guy like Randy Couture if he doesn't land shots though.

Just because you use to box, doesn't mean you can't put your hands up and block a kick. Also Chuck Liddell was successful and didn't kick at wall. Of course Holyfield would have to train take down defense and few other things, but I think Belfort, Liddell, Jackson, etc are tailor made for Holyfield in MMA.
