Saw over on BLH that Martin and Ruiz are in talks to face each other in October. Would be an interesting fight.
I'd take Andy over Charles. Also, I didn't know that Martin turned down a final eliminator with Michael Hunter back in February.
I guess Whyte will be facing Arreola or Franklin.
Would be a nice fight, im rooting for Andy and I hope he makes a comeback on the world stage. I firmly believe the AJ win was an absolute fluke, a Buster Douglas situation. But I hope Andy proves me wrong.
He is getting in better shape and I think he can beat Charles Martin.
Ortiz has done nothing in 11 years but get two gift title fights ,he has fought no one of worth and hopes to get gift title fights ,I know he wants Wilder to win because he will be granted another he’s literally turned down multiple offers and has a 36 fight career of who exactly ? so what is there to prove ,perhaps beating Mike Martz again for it ? :lol1:
He is continuously begging for fights from top guys not nobodies. He needs the money.
My theory is Ortiz is saved for championship fights. Same as Ugas. In Haymon’s world it’s treating a fighter badly when you make them fight good fights without a belt on the line. Same business we see with Danny Garcia. These guys hang around the top 10 by hording the position via just not losing. All they gotta do is fight back a little when they go up against the champs.
Well, it made sense for Ortiz's management team; fight scrubs while waiting for another multi-million $$ offer from Hearn.
But now it's looking like DAZN no longer approves of Hearn's senseless spending binge, and time is running out for them.
So we'll never get to see Luis Ortiz fight another PBC fighter. Very sad.
Ortiz might as well retire. There's nothing for him for another 2-3 years, I'm afraid.
Problem is compounded when he prices himself out when Hearn is the one making the offer.

Yea he fought guys out of the top 50 ? Crazy posters supportive Ortiz agenda like you like who are really bad ones like
billeau2 these guys are a cancer , thankfully they are a slim number on the forum and ones like me keeping them in check ,no one avoided Ortiz his own team said they they declined a career high payday for AJ years ago ,you are also a cancer on here like Silly Billy .
And u have no proof of what u say. All I can say is Ortiz is a POOR man that can fight at the top level, but you say he doesnt WANT TO FIGHT?
A broke man who makes a LIVING FIGHTING??? Your stupid. Argue that pendejo.
You probably believe the earth is flat too.

Is that your new go to phrase? At least your not making bad predictions... Shoulder Roll Broke ya!
Ruiz is the more polished fighter with better pedigree, better skills, quicker hands and good chin. He should defeat Martin if he's mentally and physically prepared. That's a big "if" tho.
Martin is a big southpaw and can crack. He was blown out by AJ because he was up against a better man and because he froze being on the big stage. He has the physical advantages and if he can stay at a distance and use his advantages he can make it a competitive fight.
Being a southpaw helps lol. Martin can crack... Its a test for Ruiz. He should be at his best ready to prime in the next year, or so. Martin could grow a bit as well... Its possible.
Martin has come back from the AJ loss in a respectable way, he got blown out BADLY (and we don't even know if he really should/would've been there to begin with because he beat Glazkov by default).....but now I think he's earned his respect back. Great to see someone work their way back into it but I think it will stop here
I don't want to be the guy fighting Ruiz once things start to click with the new trainer...he looked labored last fight like he was forcing himself to try the new stuff. He settled in but never looked good...maybe toward the last 1/3rd was OK. I think Martin is too stiff for Ruiz, I expect Ruiz to look better next fight otherwise, yes time to worry.
For now I operate with the idea that Arreola fought a career fight, he was NOT going to be embarrassed and KOed by the guy who he once was and could have been (potential first of MExican descent HW champ). Was never going to happen and for sure not at Stub Hub
I agree 100% with your post. Spot on. I actually think Arreola looked pretty decent, all things considered, in his last two fights against Ruiz and Kownacki. Probably the best conditioning and dedication I've seen him enter the ring with....it's just a shame it's come at the tail end of his career.

Regarding Ruiz versus Martin. Martin really IMO is a poor man's Wilder... Lol. The guy is a big puncher relatively speaking... He has learned to set up his punches a bit... He does not punch as hard as AJ, or obviously Wilder... Ruiz may even actually punch harder because of the speed. Martin has no footwork to speak of.
Ruiz has legit talent imo. If he can adjust to his new program and not get carried away with his weight, he should be able to take Martin out, or outbox him.

6 years!! WTF u talking about moron? He fought in 2019 and 2020 and KING KONG is OLD. What does that make the YOUNG BOXERS who avoid him? Pu$$y’s like u.
Your posting to the village idiot and he is trying desperately to get some credability back. He sensed that because of a bias regarding how Ortiz compares to others in the division... he may get some support... Lol. just keep that in mind. :pat::lol1:
The bolded: something that always should be remembered. Fighters don't as a rule, get jittery about fighting opponent A as opposed to opponent B... There are all kinds of shenanigans that one could not be aware of regarding these negotiations.
Agree 100% my friend. Aside from shenanigans, there's also incentive and risk/reward assessment. That and we don't have access to the details of "offers".
I think hes good enought to make even someone who DOES beat him, look bad. Thats just not a risk big names take.
I like Ortiz. I wonder what condition he is in presently... He fought superbly against Wilder the second fight... All these guys prolly have someone in their ear telling them it would look bad to lose to Ortiz lol. If he can get in the shape he was in with Wilder hes a threat against anyone in the division minus perhaps the top 3 dogs...
Is he tho? While I think Ortiz has some skills, I'm not convinced he actually wants any of those fights. I get the vibe he (or possibly his handlers) don't want to risk his "bogeyman" status and are waiting for a big payday to fall in his lap. Regardless of the reasons, he or his team said no to the AJ fight and Ruiz said yes.
It's hard to really tell who is being avoided and who is doing the avoiding.

Ortiz has turned down multiple offers don’t lie . If it’s that easy why have we been waiting six years ? stop the insanity , no intelligent fan thinks any one can be avoided Six yrs that makes you even crazier .
