Sometimes I think about how interesting it is that boxing is still alive with all of its issues.
1. Too many promoters, leads to top fighters being segregated and split among promoters/networks and apps. This gives us the eternal issue of top fighters not fighting eachother.
2. Too many belts. This leads to multiple champions, and then not all the title holders are even good.
3. Major title’s (WBC, IBF, etc) top 10 rankings are littered with fighters who are no match for good or elite fighters. And other obscure names of boxing that block good fights from happening due to being a mandatory. Major title’s top 10 rankings are usually not a good representation of who are really the top guys in the division. And these sanctioning bodies don’t even follow their own rules and policies a lot of times. They are constantly being taken to court by boxers.
4. Boxing usually has very little advertisement. Boxing doesn’t get the love NFL, MLB, and NBA get in the US and Canada.
5. Boxing is outdated. While all other major sports have features like challenging wrong calls by refs/umpires; boxing still hasn’t gotten the memo. If a ref calls a KD a slip, it’s a slip. If the ref calls a slip a KD, it’s a KD. No watching instant replays and overturning bad calls. Allow fighters to challenge calls with instant replays like other sports.
6. Stupid, outdated, and confusing scoring model. It should be 1 point for the winner and 0 points for the loser. And extra 1 point for KD’s. The 10-9 BS is the second main culprit of bad decisions. With incompetent or corrupted judging being the main issue.
Oh great. Another boxing is dying thread. You people say this shit so much it's lost all meaning.
Although it's funny that you mentioned baseball, that's a sport that's been on the decline for a decade, yet they're fans just enjoy the game. They aren't constantly making threads about how to save baseball or how it's a dying sport.
Yeah, it's frustrating when we can't even get two hype jobs in the same division to fight each other.
That's the main problem. Too many belts also
Ill always love boxing but man shits messed up now.
Looking forward to tonight's card doe.
MMA got boring. Hitting with hands is the most basic form of fighting. Jiu jitsu is amazing when you first see the submissions but I guess you get used to it. Knockouts are always fantastic.
Yes, boxing can be very frustrating with the BS that's going on, but I think we are still OK. Little star making fights like Zepeda-Tanajara last weekend makes me forget all my boxing troubles. Zepeda is a potential star.
We can thank the Paul brothers for keeping the interest alive, the rumors about Teo and Fury using covid as an excuse to delay their fights because of low ticket sales is concerning.
- -Boxing fans fleeing for more fairly officiated sports including their main comp, UFC that sold for what, $4 bil just a few years back making Dana a billionaire still in charge of the nuts and bolts. Boxing is only alive because of a precious handful of stars(Manny/Canelo) while circling the clogged up drain of American runner/stinkers for years now.
See the history of Euro feudal kingdoms for the working model of boxing...
:lol1: The bolded gave me my morning coffee chuckle man, may karma smile upon you for the rest the day...
