Can't watch the Charlo fight this weekend, can't access the ShowTime app from the UK. Dazn, Sky, BTSport ain't covering it...and this has been the case for some years now with most fights. It's painful to say this as a boxing fan, but I've watched more UFC this past year because I was able to access everything so easily via one channel: BT Sport.
...and for people who don't want to subscribe to BT, the UFC app isn't geographically restricted and offers current PPV and over ten years worth of historical PPVs!
I know it's impossible with different promoters to have one channel, but only a few years ago you knew where all the big fights were broadcast: Sky, HBO, Showtime. Simple.
I remember when streaming was announced and everyone was like, "finally, we get to watch all the fights without shelling for TV subs". It just made things worse. It's like the football in the UK, we thought more competition meant better deals for customers, but the opposite proved true: now you have to pay for two subscriptions to watch the premier and champions league. And now the same thing has happened to boxing.
Just do VPN, then do the Showtime web stream on your computer, HDMI out to your TV. VPN is easy. Browser plugin.
No, I'm not in the UK, I just know tech.
Oh ok, I never once thought of of using a hdmi to output to TV. Thanks.

this.
chromecast works well too
early 2000s there was only HBO, showtime and ESPN. that was everything in the US. we had HBO and ESPN, for a while we also had showtime. anything PPV was replayed the next week and i could sometimes avoid spoilers for a week, and just watch it like it was live. that gave me coverage of basically ALL fights.
Yes now cant even watch charlo watched some overmatched bum, too many apps and too many low quality fights on PPV. i remember the good old days this place also had a very active video subforum and you could get HD fights within like a day.
You realize that VPN makes everything better, right?
Are you in the UK? I've heard of VPN, but it seems technical and only works via web browser. Can it be set up to watch via PS4 or Xbox or Smart TV? Thanks
The saddest part about all this is that I've been thrilled by boxing fights on YouTube that are in 480p more than any UFC event aired in UHD.
I watch old boxing fights on YouTube for now, but if I want to keep up with current boxing...it takes work, like Lupara said, he enjoys the frustration, I get it...it's like fishing for the perfect tcatch - but my God sometimes you just want to flip on a channel like back in the day, Sky Sports...bing bang done. Forgot to say that even streamings apps that are not as popular as DAZN don't even work on consoles like Xbox, PS or smart TVs. I HATE WATCHING FIGHTS ON MY PHONE OR LAPTOP!
I love how frustrating boxing can be. To me it's part of following the sport .
The disappointments. The robberies. The corruption. The promoters. The sides of the street.
All of it.
It's a friggin mess and I love it
When you have guys like shakur stevenson and Devin Spadafora HEADLINING shows, it's a problem. These guys wouldn't have even headlined Boxing After Dark in the late 90s
Depends how hard you wanna follow it. Few years ago I was watching every fight, researching things, watching every fight real closely. Then I stepped back a bit and just chilled, watched the big fights. Feel myself being drawn back into the hardcore scene again, and I'm liking it, but I'm not gonna break my neck trying to keep up with every single little detail. Agree with you though, too many subscriptions, Dazn very reasonable but the production's shite, unreasonable to ask somebody to pay for 'em all. If only there were another way of viewing fights without the crippling expense...
