The first undisputed four belt showdown at the 154 division takes place on Saturday night. Charlo has been on a nice run since originally winning the WBC title in 2016 even with the one loss to Harrison and Castano has good wins over Soro and Teixeira while having a draw against Lara in a fight many thought he won. Castano was the better amateur as he beat Spence and has a win over Derevyanchenko in the WBS before turning pro. This is a great fight on paper as Charlo is a sharp puncher but not the most active so you can win rounds off of and Castano is an intelligent pressure fighter that puts it on you from the opening bell.
Hard fight to call, but who you guys got?
More 50/50 than people think! I'll go DRAW like Lara vs Castano OR a very Controversial hometown Decision for Jermell
I like both fighters so I don't care who wins, respect to both for agreeing to this Undisputed Matchup and may the best man win

Just Saying! Been posting for YEARS that Castano is one of the most underrated fighters in all of boxing
Like Castano's persistence. He wasn't overawed by the skill of Lara, just kept on pressuring. A lot easier to stand in front of Lara's punches than it would be Charlo's I'd expect. I'm a little under-researched in this division, just on my way back to the exalted 'hardcore' status haha, but the overall impression I get is that Charlo is the better man. He strikes me as a special fighter, he's got that extra something that you can't train, something inner. Gonna watch his fights with Harrison here and see what I can glean. Watched him at the press conference earlier and was kinda won over, everything else I've seen has been highlights. My un-educated prediction is that Charlo knocks him the fuck out in dramatic fashion late on, after a killer fight, one that lives up to the billing, and maybe brings a bit of much-deserved attention to the division. I judged these Charlo guys as idiots, looks like I'm the idiot :D Looking forward to a good fight.

Wanted to bump this thread as the fight nears.
I think knowledgeable fans think it will be a good, competitive fight. Charlo is the favorite but no one that I've seen is expecting him to just blow Castano out. That would be a big mistake, especially after how well he looked in his last fight.
It's a TOUGH fight to call. I'm still not sure who I will be picking to win lol.

Agree with the bolded. Castano is an all around fighter, he likes to come forward, but he can fight on the backfoot too when he needs to. Plus he is liable to throw 1000+ punches while doing all of it.
Like I said I'm picking Charlo, but wouldn't be suprised at all if Castano took it either. This is definitely a 50-50 fight.
Agreed man, it’s definitely a pick ‘em. I think a lot will depend on how Castano deals with Charlo’s power, if Charlo can make him hesitant to press forward then that will be a huge advantage for Charlo. But if Castano is comfortable putting pressure on Charlo, I can’t see Jermell keeping up with his output and work rate.
obviously i'm biased 'cause brian isn't just from argentina but also from my neiborghood. love the dude. the closer the fight gets the more i see charlo as trinidad and brian as naraez LOL, i let some comments get to me. still, what worries me is charlo's power, is it legit? it depends on how good brian can take his shots, if the fight gets past the first half then i believe a victory is more than posible as brian's engine is superb. also, is hard for me to believe that brian is weaker than rosario, harrison, lubin for name a few and the more remarkable opponets jermell has faced, yeah, brian was dropped by de jesus but he also took soro's and lara's power. but any analisys is kinda pointless, anything can happen.
The more time goes by, the more I lean BCC by points. Charlo has never faced anyone like him, and he's been outboxed a number of times only to win via KO.
The people who are acting like Charlo becoming undisputed is a sure thing are in for a shocker.
Definitely, no way is this a forgone conclusion. This is a REAL legitimate 50/50 type of fight.
This is unfortunately an unavoidable part of the equation... it makes what I'd otherwise see as a 50/50 55/45 either way kinda fight into a likely Charlo win cos I'm not really seeing the stoppage either way as being hugely likely here. I think Castano outworks Mell in most rounds but he's also gonna get seriously stung a coupla times possibly even dropped. Neutral ground, 50/50 with edge to Castano, in Texas 65/35 in favour of Jermell.
will be interesting to see how it plays out alrite
fights in texas so expect charlo to win unless he gets stopped

His style is why I believe Charlo will win this fight with clean and effective punching. Charlo won't have to chase Castano down, which actually plays into what Charlo wants to do and that is counter him and hit him with combos as he comes in. Granted Charlo also has never had someone who will throw 1000+ punches at him over 12 rounds either. I just can't wait to see it it's gonna be a great fight.
Possible, but Castano, while there to be hit, he's a guy that pressures intelligently. He's not just coming with wide winging shots, but he's trying to break you down round by round. I feel like I was harsh in the description I gave there on Castano. I'm a fan of his and have always been high on him. I knew he was going to beat Teixeira's ass and he did just that.
Great fight indeed, can go either way.
Derevyanchenko was in the WBS, which is essentially a pro fight. Hell of a fight, shows what kind of dog Castano is. His win against a red hot Soro in Soro's hometown was a very good one that people don't talk about much. I thought early on vs Lara he was a little anxious and getting out boxed, but he ended the fight well and thought he may have edged it out. And then obviously he beat the crap out of Teixeira. He's quality, quality fighter. He's going to win more rounds than Charlo just with his style and activity, but he's also there to be hit. Lara landed some flush shots and if Charlo lands those same shots, can Castano take them? If he does, then this is his fight to lose. If not? Then well he either gets stopped or loses a tight decision due to getting dropped, possibly a few times.

This is a close fight, Castano is a much better fighter than people on here realize, dude beat Derevyanchenko and Spence in the amatuers.
I'm gonna go with Charlo by KO in the 9th or 10th, but I wouldn't be suprised at all if Castano won either. Either way it go looking at the styles they fight with I don't think it's going the distance one way or another.

If Brian can avoid getting tagged by a big shot I'd favor him to outwork jermell to a decision win but that's a big if,Castano is a real dog out there....55/45 in Jermells favor. Going to be a badass fight regardless!
100% man. Castano is by far the best guy Charlo has been in with IMO.
I actually have a feeling Castano takes it on points. Great fight, really looking forward to it.
