Yep, and don't get me wrong, I thought this was a more than respectable opponent for Lomachenko coming off that loss vs Lopez. But yeah, people killed Teofimo and were calling him overrated after the fight because of his less than stellar performance. But sometimes it just goes that way. Lopez had some rough moments vs Nakatani while destroying Commey and beating Lomachenko.
I just think that Nakatani has taken too many flush shots and is wearing down. Verdejo was dropping him easy and Nakatani took bigger shots vs Lopez. Punch resistance is continuing to decimate by every single fight.
Agreed, it was a solid choice of opponent for Loma.
Lol most people were ****ting on teo for that fight, barely anyone said it was bc Nakatani was good. Once he upset verdejo people gave nakatani a bit more props
That's what I was saying. And nobody said Lozada was good when he did the same thing to Verdejo.
every boxer is not some flashy "elite" boxer but they are grimy, ugly and can push said "elite" boxers...this is what makes not only boxing but sports great..a good hard worker can beat a great elite athlete on any given day

He's a tough but limited fighter. Man, Verdejo was lighting his ass up before Nakatani got to him. People started to overrate him just because he gave Teofimo some issues. He is what he is but he just takes too much punishment. Respect to him though.

Truth is no boxer is good in general, to fans.
Every top boxer has a large group of fans who think they are trash/overrated.
So yeah, Nakatani is definitely not safe from that.
He sucks too.
The whole 135 sucks.
Top 10 P4P as well.
Every boxer sucks and their resume can be picked apart.
The best boxers in history are just those that were matched carefully. As long as you have a master matchmaker and promoter, you will be one of the few greatest boxers.
Canelo is #1 P4P only because he has been matched perfectly against bums like GGG, Jacobs, Kovalev, and Saunders. He’s in a week era of boxing, I read earlier by a poster, which is why he’s successful.
Good point..............
Lomachenko is still a p4p fighter and I respect his career.. I'm not trying to insult him indirectly.

Loma could had picked a worst opponent,at least he had a win against Verdejo to get the fight. Verdejo gassed out when Loma doesn't have stamina issues. If a fighter is not in top condition for Nakatani there will have a hard time with him. Loma is still one of the top fighters from the sport and some just dropped him too low with the Lopez loss.
Just like Barrios, who was chosen because he can't defend the right hook, Nakatani was chosen for his lack of an inside game. They aren't bad fighters, just incomplete fighters.
Barrios would have knocked Nakatani out on Saturday night. His skillset sucks!
Semantics really, depends what you mean by 'good'. Solid lower end or fringe top 10 guy or thereabouts I reckon. Tough but limited. Gives most dudes a tough fight but won't beat the best. Much the same level I imagine Barrios will settle at TBH.
I'm not sure the Lomachenko fight told us anything about Nakatani we didn't already know... was expecting Lomachenko to completely outclass him, I just wasn't expecting him to look quite so aggressively for the KO.
They'll make for some fun fights in the future. Nakatani needs a few soft touches imo.

Yes, it’s boxing, you will take some punishment in the sport. Some fighters take less punishment, some take more. Fact is neither Teofimo Lopez, the 135 Ring champion, or Felix Verdejo, were able to finish this guy who takes “too much punishment”. Lomachenko did. Takes too much punishment but has never been stopped until the Lomachenko fight.
Lomachenko is a great fighter, doesn't mean Nakatani is a good fighter. Nakatani had not been dropped before fighting Verdejo and was dropped twice that fight. That is what happens to these types of fighters. More punishment you continue to take, the less punch resistance you will have. You are taking this thread as a shot at Lomachenko but it is about Nakatani and if he is good or not.

I think I was correct when I said Nakatani isn't a good fighter | BoxingScene Community
