I mean come on. Have you ever seen a sport in your life where fans care more about what happens outside the ring rather than inside the ring?
Have you ever seen a sport with "so many fans" but nearly all of those fans have never once took the time to understand what they're watching?
Or that they've never thrown a punch neitherless put on a pair of gloves?
Have you ever seen a sport where everyone can talk a big game but is never forced to back up their words?
Have you ever seen a sport where there are fans openly objecting to seeing the best available going head to head and are proud to do so?
Have you ever seen a sport that empowered the racists and nationalist as much as boxing?
Just wondering because all these things should never be celebrated in any sport. Just my opinion.

Not sure if its the sport or just this place TBH, but yeah I understand your frustrations, it is pretty depressing.
The amount of ignorant, low information, bordering on straight up retarded, hot takes that flow like a tsunami through this place is frightening.
The polarisation and water carrying for promoters of all things is comical.
The race stuff is probably the most pathetic. I can't speak for anyone else but the gyms I go to have people of various ethnic backgrounds, it is mystifying that anyone could train in that environment and not see that race has absolutely nothing to do with a person's character, I assume its only ignorant people who aren't exposed to the "other" that can hold on to the myth that race is important, that where you or your parents were born and not your individual character somehow matters.
If I were running the show any race related stuff would get the banhammer, its absolute cancer.
Its unfortunate as this place does have insightful and informative post etc, not sure the toxic shit you have to wade through to find it is worth the effort, if there was somewhere else where people just intelligently discussed the sport I'd go there, just not sure it exists.
The other actual issues with the sport, like promoters/networks, sanctioning bodies etc, thats just a whole other depressing topic.
People don't know shit about boxing and based it on emotions. They don't even know how the fights are scored and the rules either. When fighters don't score KOs, automatically the fighter is deemed as "boring" and "has no power". As for knowing what is happening outside of boxing, as in behind the scenes...yeah...it's actually interesting and we can see who is ducking who. If the internet is available in the 80s, a lot of these legends might be exposed and not be respected as much.
If the TS feels that way he should stop watching. You don't always get what you want but there are some gems that come from no where and boxing is the theater of the unknown.
You know it's bad when DAZN's (I think) YT channel has a video titled something like "The Best Ringwalks of 2020". That's gay stuff, man. I don't tune in to watch some dude strut. Who cares about ring walks, and shorts that look like skirts or some Shredded Elmo doll?
I know some fighters have liked the flashy stuff, historically, (Prince Naseem, Macho Camacho, etc.), but leave that to the few who can pull it off. The rest need to stop profiling constantly (but that's what happens in a Facebook era). Just get down here, square up, listen for the bell, and start punching.
And somebody tell that ridiculous announcer to cut his Rapunzel hairdo!
Yes boxing is the sport where people take living vicariously theough the participants to the absolute nth degree. a great many people use boxing as an emotional crutch, a tribal pride game. Pathetic
I wish the worse on these people but the fact is the already live such a pathetic miserable existence.

There's always threads for the obscure cards on here and usually there are a lot of posters in there commenting. But they're niche. Can't expect most fans to give so much energy to fighters that they just don't have much exposure to.
You'll have to point these out to me because they are far and few in between.
To the thread starter: Can we talk about how pathetic you are? Go funk yourself! ............Rockin':boxing:
Oh, so you love all the things I posted that i don't like about this sport right old timer?
Since you can't get yourself up anymore I suppose it really gets you hard thinking about how much people love not seeing two guys who should fight each other not fight each other at all huh?
You love people celebrating fights not being made.
You must love the drama outside the ring a lot more than what happens in the ring too?
You love all the racism that exist in this sport to don't ya?
If that's not you then why open your fucking mouth?
I watch a lot of the smaller (as in lesser known) fights too but no one talks about those do they?

If you’re not enjoying it. Don’t watch.
I enjoyed watching three different shows last weekend. I even regularly enjoy attending amateur shows if Covid regulations permit them.
No offence man, but you seem like a more casual fan, not saying you’re necessarily uneducated on the sport but in terms of that you’re only interested in the bigger and best fights- which is cool. However, a lot of guys on here enjoy watching any level of boxing. I’ve sat ringside in Vegas and back row in a sports hall, I still enjoy what I’m watching.

The thing is though is that there are plenty of other sports I watch too, not just boxing. The NBA has been on and its playoffs. You have March madness. College football and NFL. I watch soccer and tennis occasionally. Then you have things like the Olympics. You also have a lot of MMA cards too including UFC. RISE and ONE.
Seems to me like a lot of guys here ONLY watch boxing and to only watch boxing and still not understand kts basics....that's wild.
Personally I think boxing overall is straight up garbage. Once maybe twice a year there is a fight im truly looking forward to and that’s a big maybe.
Fact is the top guys in each division rarely if ever fight each other. It’s so fragmented into which promotion company a certain fighter is with and which TV/steaming service is who with.
I love boxing, but boxing overall doesn’t give the fans thr type of fights we all want.
Great example, Tank Davis vs this Barrios dude. Tank moving up in weight to fight for a secondary scrub world title. An ok fight but they billing it as a legit world title and making it seem Tank is fighting a real champion, and making it a fuking $70 PPV fight. Gtfoh.
At best this is an HBO or Showtime championship boxing quality fight, but Fuking $70 PPV. That’s a joke.
Then the Fury-Wilder 3 fight. A fight nobody was clamoring for, but it will carry prolly a $80-$100 PPV price tag.
Overall boxing blows and it’s sad to say because I love two sweaty men exchanging punches and other bodily fluids.
I definitely agree with you here.
I watch actual sports where people/teams actually try to be the best instead of doing their best pretending to be the best. Boxing is seriously the only sport in the world where you can say you're the best and not have to prove it.
Like imagine in a just world where boxers actually had to prove they were they best by having no choice but fighting the best in a tournament setting like the WBSS.
If you love boxing I have no idea why you would object to this. Fuck, even just having one world champion would solve an INFINITE amount of problems in boxing today.
Please DOOO tell me who's enjoying this sport right now?
I know I'm not because damn, we can't get good fights and people celebrating THAT.
It's ****ing embarassing.

Just shut up and let people enjoy the sport you moaning c***.

Don't judge the sport by it's fans, commentators,.promoters or hype jobs.
At it's best boxing is the most primitive and also the most compelling sport.
Just watching for fun doesnt cut it and most people here don't even watch the fight they comment on, let's not pretend it's true.

I massively object to this statement man. I’ve boxed myself, I’ve trained in various gyms and even obtained my seconds licence purely because I enjoy learning about the sport but I know loads of guys who’ve never boxed in their lives and know the sport inside out, To suggest you have to have boxed to be educated about the sport it total bullsh** man. It’s the type of BS you hear idiots like Tony Bellew come out with to justify sh**ty fights on Sky. It’s utter nonsense, as half the time the fighters have worst takes than the fans.
Learn to fucking read.
Did I say everyone has to box to understand boxing? Nope.
But here on Boxingscene we have people daily who love love comment in fights they never watched and pretend like they know boxing when they don't.
Do you need to be an elite boxer to understand he sport? Nope, but chances are you either need to study it or participate. You have to know SOMETHING.
Most dudes here can't even fucking read neitherless tell you what a "power punch" is.

seems more like boxing attracts a lot of idiots which seems understandable because of the nature of the sport. But yeah, the average boxing fan on boxing forums and especially on twitter appear to be mildly ******ed.
Example. The fucking joke who replied to this thread.
Dude loves all the things I hate about this sport.
