It is perfect for the modern man/woman. I can watch fights any time which is great if I’m busy. No spoilers.
Fights can be watched on any device in all countries.
TV is for dinosaurs. I only stream.
Hopefully others will follow suit
Dazn is not the way. It’s in debt Billions with a B. Not sustainable. A Netflix with a wide sub base adding sports - that’s the ticket. Boxing alone isn’t enough. Dazn already lost Sunday ticket
for those who are not subscribed to DAZN, i believe it targeted those dinosaurs still paying for cable subscriptions.
Or the people who don't have high speed internet connections?
They've had PPV's for the last two Canelo fights

Ffs. There was me hoping that I’d be able to watch affordable boxing forever. I’m not interested in other sports. not interested in paying for loads of sports I don’t care about.
maaaa gaaaaawd
Hopefully they remain involved in boxing for several years at the very least, you never know they might view boxing as a long term asset and remain involved in the sport for decades. I’d like to see them succeed though, the more networks showing boxing the better IMO.
Call me weird but I don’t have much of an attachment to any individual boxers let along promotional companies/networks. I’m a fan of the sport and I want access to good content.
If others were to follow suit I’d love that. My dream would be able to watch all boxing events (within reason) with solid cards, good production etc.
Who’s providing that isn’t important
That is what a boxing fan should be, but most of these guys are like females. Like i couldn't care less who produce, promote or his connected to any networks. If you bring the right fights at a great price then i pray that you stay up and make it in boxing. None of this dreaming and praying that a network goes under because you hate someone that is associated with them.
At the end of the day if DAZN can sustain their price model, get more boxers signed to them, give us fights that we want them i hope they make it, it would be tough for them though because of the politics in the sport. but if it isn't them then i hope others can make boxing a focal point. For me streaming is the way forward, i do that with boxing, F1, football etc
They went under, they used to charge me £10 per month for boxing alone. Which I loved, they have been since brought over by BT sports. Prior to that they used to show PBC fights and most American fights live.
This is why I don’t get why any boxing fan would want the demise of any boxing streaming apps, the obsession by some British posters on here with DAZN/Hearn is laughable. I know those PBC cultists are aren’t the brightest bunch but it’s the British posters who somehow want the downfall of DAZN that makes me laugh, they don’t want the app, they complain about the price going up (Currently at £2) and they want to complain about the contents.

What happened to boxnation again ?

I seem to recall them saying that they weren't interested in competing for leagues in their home countries... ie they'd try to pick up EPL overseas but not in the UK. NFL outside of the US, and so on.
Or maybe that was just the start up phase.
Streaming in general is, yes. I dont know if DAZN specifically has a bright future though. It really hinges on if they can get much bigger licences or not, i'm talking Premier League rights in the UK, NFL and/or NBA rights in the US etc etc. The way they marketed the whole service so heavily around boxing was pretty dumb because lets be honest its not a big enough sport to carry things to that extent.
I think they are here to stay, I pray they don't go the same way as boxnation. For me it could be DAZN or any other boxing app, the convenience of streaming would always be the way forward.

I agree. I’d be really surprised if they remain in boxing long term.
The EPL rights are up soon, 2022 I think, I expect DAZN to make a play for them but it’s gonna cost A LOT to take them from Sky.

DAZN does have a great chance to do well Globally but it won't be for Boxing it will be more so for Futbol!

Bob arum will be dead within 10 years so yes--
Not for nothing, Top Rank was the first finance their own streaming platform and has been streaming their undercards for almost a decade. Similar production to what you see now on ESPN, it's like an extension of their in house production group that was doing those streams...but it had Col bob Sheridan and Christina Poncher as commentators

I like certain elements of it but I’m not convinced it will be all that successful. They’ve already had major struggles and they’ve only been in the boxing business 5 minutes. They’ll possibly learn from their mistakes and be successful from here on out but I’m not convinced they’ll be involved in boxing long term tbh.
I've enjoyed the app since it's been over here. Easy to use and I haven't had and problems with buffering etc. Looking forward to getting some more usage out of it when the start with the matchroom uk cards soon.
Dazn might not be able to pay all the fighters but i see apps definitely being the future just not exclusively on dazn. Dazn isn't renewing its deal with GB so it shows how shortsighted they are. They dont see beyond culero or joshuas bumass
I think dazn dropping Golden Boy says more about Golden Boy than dazn
Canelo sued and GB let him walk, how badly did you fuck up to have to let the biggest star in boxing walk from a contract, and he went right back to dazn.
My biggest issue with dazn (in Australia) was lack of content, it was a no brainer to get anyway value wise just for the big fights, but I would still watch more boxing on other platforms as they had local fight nights, various UK and US fights. But with Matchroom coming to Australia, Italy, Canada, Spain etc in addition to UK and US they should have a solid schedule now.
As time goes on and people get savvy is there really going to be a huge market for $70+ PPVs long term? I see it as like music and movies, you don't beat piracy by raising the price and playing whack a mole with streams, you beat it by making it convenient and cheap enough that most people can't be bothered pirating anymore.
DAZN the only broadcaster providing fights from all over the world to everyone around the world! and no PPV fees? how can anyone hate on this?!

Well that goes without saying. Of course it's good for us because we are boxing fans but what about those non boxing fans who don't follow boxing? Well how do you reach that audience if they cant see or even notice you fighting underground on the web without the use of television?
