. . . was set up where at evening's end I could choose to redirect a percentage of my fee away from the fighters (or individual fighter), to a prescribed charity, if I feel the fighter's effort was failing.
The fighter would still have a guarantee but there would be a percentage that he has to earn from the fans, the fans who pop a $100 to see him fight.
The charity could be set up to aid distressed former fighters.
Noble idea but it’s hard enough getting some fighters in the ring in top fights as it is, with their diva demands, so they certainly aren’t going to sign up for that.
The reason I offered such an odd proposal was because I was reading the judge's decision regarding the Class Action Law Suit brought by two lawyers back in 2015 regarding the Mayweather - Pacquiao fiasco.
The suit claimed that Showtime knowingly put on a PPV event with one of the fighters injured. PAC's shoulder. (I don't even know if that was true; the fight was a dog that much I know.)
In 2017 a federal judge dismissed the suit, which obviously had to be done otherwise all professional sports would be affected by the precedent set.
But what bother me was that the judge concluded that the 'fan had no right expect a competitive fight.' Basically he argued "buyer beware" and it got me thinking was there anyway for the fans to express their dissatisfaction with the product they purchased; anyway to send a message to promoters that they have an obligation to put on a competive fight and not money grab the way it seems the Mayweather-PAC went down.
Noble idea but it’s hard enough getting some fighters in the ring in top fights as it is, with their diva demands, so they certainly aren’t going to sign up for that.
Whatever your smoking you're getting your moneys worth
Well you offered nothing but insult- not much point listening to anything you might have to say, now is there? Thanks for that brilliant insight.
Stupid idea. Trolls would band together and tank the sport. Maybe it's better you stay not watching.
Trolls would have to pay the PPV price first. That's unlikely, beside it would only be a small %.
Please explain to me how the trolls would tank the sport.
