Reiterating, in boxing history fighters that have war trilogies like MAB and Morales did, they're never the same. They always leave something in the ring. I watched a lot of MAB and Morales when they were on the rise and they just weren't the same after. Morales peaked early because he turned pro early and took a lot of damage throughout his career. After he beat Pac the first time he was legit toast. The Raheem fight, Morales would never have lost that a few years earlier. He was really doughy in the fight and visibly done.
No I agree, wars like MAB/Morales can leave a lot from a fighter. But I'm talking about Morales vs Barrera 3. That fight happened after Pac/Barrera 1. Barrera may not have been at his peak, but he was still good enough to beat Morales in the rubber match. And that Morales had that one great performance because afterwards he was able to beat Pacquiao in the first meeting.
Pac/Morales 2 and 3 were pointless and meaningless wins because Morales was washed, and weight drained. I would never argue otherwise.
Never his best performance but def a good one, he was more or less a one trick pony back then - it was just a hell of a trick. I think Barrera had a bad night but take nothing away from Pac, no experience at that level and he didn't freeze, or give too much respect which can easily happen, he just fought his fight and went for the openings when they were there.
I think his care free attitude are a big part of his success, he is not overly emotional in the ring.
Manny was at his best, but MAB wasn't. MAB was just coming off his second war the year before with Morales and both MAB and Morales were never the same after those fights.
Don't be quick to write people off after wars. Wars make you battle tested and not wet behind the ears and green. Although it can shorten career but look at pac.
pac was more raw then, his speed and power overwhelmed a battle worn barrera but pac improved skill wise a lot since that fight.
that was the fight though that made pac huge on the world stage. that was the first i heard of him and shocked me for sure

Eh MAB may have been slightly past it but after he lost to Pac, he beat Erik morales in the rubber match. That Morales would end up beating Pac. So I'd say this is probably Pac's best win.
