Everyone knows that sports science develops over time. Especially in sports, it develops into better skills by changing eating and organizing training, tactics etc..
You can see in many sports that Modern players prove to be better than old people. When you look at running, soccer, and baseball, the current player of Era is better than the old player of Era.
Is boxing the same? The question I want to ask is can't fighters from the old era beat fighters from now?
what if Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Roy Jones Jr comes now boxing era, will they be able to dominate this era??
Of course today’s fighters are better
put it this way, In every sport where there’s a definitive measurement of time or distance to show the best, like athletics, records keep being broken and getting better in comparison to the past.
it would be very naive and ignorant to think boxing isn’t the same. Things are more developed now. It’s just there’s no definitive measurement to prove it.
If you watch fighters from the past, They might look as good or better on film but it’s only relative to who they are fighting. It’s like watching a video of Carl Lewis run in the 80’s, he looks lightning fast, breaking records etc. but his times would put him nearly last in the race in the modern day.
put a fighter from the 1950’s into a fight today, they would get demolished. Of course, if you give them years of advanced training methods, nutrition etc, then it’s a different story. maybe in other sports but totally wrong in boxing...now there are multiple ways of winning a world title ...15 round fights have long been banned , The American heavyweight is now non existent which should tell you boxing in general has been on the decline , you have manny pacquiao who is 41 winning against today’s champions , so your wrong totally....Lennox Lewis , sugar Ray Leonard , Roy Jones all would be champions today and would easily beat the best the division has to offer now..there comes a time when the human race actually starts to regress and we have actually been in decline for some time now....the future generation who are actually less intelligent than they should be so as I said your wrong
Today`s fighters are more protected, you have like 6 "world champions" in each division. The guy that is not even top 10 beats somebody that is N. 45 for "world championship" belt and than he claims he is a world champ.
That wasn`t the case in old times.
That just tells us that being a 'World Champion' is far less significant accomplishment than it used to be... it doesn't tell us whether today's fighters are better or worse on average that those in previous eras.
