Let's be honest Saunders and Plant are probably about the same level. Plant is going to "frustrate Canelo" and "has the style to give Canelo problems" but he'd get destroyed too.
Caleb Plant is a southpaw as well, seems a little flashier with his combos to me than BJS. And probably has a little more pop.
But yeah, that fight likely goes the same way. Some good moments early for Plant before he ends up getting broken down and stopped in the mid to late rounds.
Caleb Plant is not a southpaw. And he is featherfisted with even less stamina than BJS. And he is always seems in great shape so unlike lazy saunders you cant blame his bad stamina on his work ethic.
Like other posters have said BJS is better than Plant. I think it will be a straight forward fight for him but I want to see it. I like Plant and he’s has some nice skills.
Plant is going to be far “easier” than BJS. I want to see Canelo vs Charlo. Not because I think Charlo has a shot but just to see the “oh shEiT look on Charlos arrogant face.

It's a BIGGER fight now imo, because it is for a full unification and Plant is American (and somehow actually has a bit of a following) But I agree that it's a slightly easier fight than Saunders. Just the fact that he's orthodox instead of southpaw makes it an easier fight for Canelo imo. I do think Plant has quicker hands than Saunders, but slower feet and less lateral movement, which I think are bigger problems for Canelo than the handspeed because of his timing. Power is probably similar, both with questionable gas tanks down the stretch, but Plant is also MUCH more unproven in big fights than Saunders and I had a go at BJS's resume coming into this one. Who TF has Plant beat? Uzcategui? Who pushed him and had him in trouble late in that fight? Washed Truax and Porky Medina? Feigenbutz? SUPER thin resume and easier fight for Canelo imo, might go longer but would be more one sided. Thinking 10th or 11th rd stoppage with Plant winning maybe 1 rd in the process
The fight I want to see more than any other, far and away, is Canelo vs Beterbiev. If Canelo can beat Beterbiev I will tip my hat to him. But I think Canelo's team would NEVER allow him in with Beterbiev.
Plant is easy work for Canelo. He'll stroll to victory.
These SMW's are bang average. The only one that might do something to Canelo is Benavidez but he seems to be a cokehead so don't see him getting the fight.
Canelo is great but let's not kid ourselves this SMW division is in a serious slump compared to previous generations.
Plant is worse than BJS and has the same big weakness that you cant have against Canelo: He fades way too quickly.
Plant has faded badly Vs Medina, Uzcategui and lost all snap vs ancient Caleb Truax in the second half.
Besides that, he isnt very elusive. He hides his flaws with his speed, but gets easily tagged whenever he becomes less mobile and his reflexes slow down.
168 is one of the weakest divisions. saunders hadn't done much at all since lemieux, callum overrated robbed ryder, caleb weak resume, benavidez a druggie degenerate.
175 is a far superior division which is why canelo will avoid it at all costs.
He's also naturally too small for 175. I never expected him to actually campaign there.
Canelo beats him for sure IMO BUT I think Plant will be tough...hell BJS was tough and giving Canelo problems before Canelo broke his eye
So yeah Canelo is still very Vulnerable to Movers and Plant does move well with very fast hands so I think Plant gives him problems especially earl but Plant also gasses and slows down so Canelo could stop him late
Plant will be easy. He has no advantages over Canelo. He doesn't have power, he's not very mobile, his defense stinks, doesn't fight inside. Only thing people keep talking about is 'hand speed', and the sad truth is that Canelo beats him in that department as well - we can argue whose hands are faster (i still think Canelo), but Canelo's reflexes are significantly better. He used to be known as an elite counterpuncher before he evolved - he hasn't lost that.
168 stunk 5 years ago, and still stinks. The only 168er I'm interested in seeing is Benavidez vs. Canelo.
