Texas is 100% back open but this thread isn't about the politics of reopening but the business of boxing. Who fights first and takes advantage of this? I wouldn't be surprised if the Charlos and Spence quickly get made fights and if Saunders-Canelo lands in Texas. I also wouldn't be surprised if we get a bevy of PPVs shoved down our throats too. I also want to see how fighters react to a full house stomping and cheering again, its been over a year of limited to no crowds, everyone's going to be audience-rusty.
This is great news. Millions of lives have been absolutely destroyed by these lockdowns and I'm afraid millions more will be destroyed in the years to come. But this is a start. We need boxing now and we need lots of fans in the stands.
I think the next few months are a 'get it while its good' kind of scenario. Best case scenario is that Texas stays open and covid cases stay low and sports and audiences continue in Texas. Worst case scenario is that Texas goes into another lockdown shutting down arenas again.
I don't think there is any going back for Texas. They have opened and will stay open.
It's on the promotional companies to make sure they have as safe of an environment as possible. But will they just give up potentially millions of dollars for that? I doubt it.
Like if Spence/Ugas takes place at Cowboys stadium, will they limit the capacity to say 15k or just sell as much as they can? Probably the latter. Though it is a little easier in stadiums to space the fans out. In arenas? Good luck with that.
Will be interesting to see how the Texas NBA teams handle this. I think they will still stick with limited capacity for the time being.
I still can't imagine a promotional company will allow full capacity at fights right away? I mean even just looking at the Spence/DSG and Canelo/Smith fights, a lot of people were maskless there. Now, Texas doesn't even mandate you wear a mask and you are going to have a full arena/stadium? That's risky.
At least wait until the summer time to put on shows when majority of the country will be vaccinated by then. Or at least a good portion of the population.

Texas is struggling with getting there ****tt together so I doubt any of fight big fights will take place there soon.
I'd bet that sports arenas and big name businesses get fixed before community centers
Was Texas closed before? There is a poster on here that’s always harping on about Texas or San Antonio. So I thought fights have already been taken place there.
Maybe they mean full capacity now?

Vegas is supposed to be open by the time Canelo fights again so probably not Canelo.
For a bigger fight I'd go with Tank vs Ryan or Barrios or whoever he's fighting next.
I disagree there will be a sh^tload of PPV's forthcoming. You gotta have some sorta bigger type event/bigger name for a PPV & I doubt the schedule will be that open for many of them all at once or back to back or w/e.
The bold: Please and thank you.
We'll see Gervonta running on 4th gear. So far, in almost all his fights, he's been running on 3rd gear or less. The haters won't say he's a small Mexican either. Make this fight.
