Deontay Wilder Apparently In Talks with Charles Martin Regarding His return fight this year. Seen a couple sites running this story. TALKSPORT are one. Won’t let me post link.
Is this true or no?
Povetkin is the WBC mandatory fighter.. even with Wilder at number 1 he would have to wait till after both Usyk for the WBO and the winner of Povetkin v Whyte 2... unless the WBC pull that out from under the rug to suit Wilder... which wouldn't be all that surprising really.
It is not clear if Povetkin is mandatory. He is an interim champ, which means if somehow Fury gets dethroned, then Povetkin will be the regular champion. But interim champion does not automatically mean mandatory challenger.
It is not a done deal, to the best of my knowledge, that Povetkin vs Whyte 2 is for the mandatory position either. Hearn is trying for that, but it is not a given at the moment.
It does put him back on the road by giving him a win to work with
After, he can face a contender
He could face a contender straight away but he was brutally stopped last time round. I don’t think he should be blamed for it
Yesssir. You made great point there. Could not agree more. Wilder is still entertaining.
Wilder’s in a tonight spot.
Had his chin cracked in his mid 30’s and is on the outside looking in on the HW title picture.
By the time he builds himself back up and AJ and Fury finish with each other he’ll probably be shot. A guy like him that relies on one punch power vs boxing skill will fade quickly.
Wilder isn't going s#!t even he brought flies, nobody wants to see him or Charles Martin or watch them fight except for hardcore fight fans. The both of them are not marketable because they failed on the biggest stage and a casual fan don't even truly know who they are.
If Wilder wants to impress, fight someone in the top ten who's not showing up for a paycheck to lose.
Martin if he signs and takes this fight will probably be 35 and out of the ring for over a year. I guess it's a fair comeback fight.
Not with UFC throwing events through March, Ngannou and Stipe is a bigger fight and better card than any current Deontay Wilder fight. Also Wilder has what 600k fans if that and maybe you're right that they'll show up to support him, however I don't think those fans are going to reserve the day to watch Deontay Wilder fight if something more interesting is on they'll watch the other event instead. Wilder isn't a personality, a nice story but is uninteresting despite current conversation. You all and I discuss at nauseam but people who like Crawford or Lopez don't, to them Wilder failures on the biggest stage proved he wasn't a true contender and they're not interested in how his career plays out.
UFC is more popular than Boxing Right Now In General so I don't know WTF you're taking about
As for Wilder we shall see! Never cared for his style and lack of Boxing Skills and Basic Fundamentals personally BUT when he Boxes or whoever he Boxes it will draw very well like him or not
I get it though, some people want him to just go away forever and some might be justified in feeling that way after all the damn pathetic excuses he has made. Then you have some he never wanted him in with AJ anyway so they're RELIEVED that Fury beat him and now feels AJ never has to fight him
Well this would show talks did take place ,so the answer is still yes and to many same sources and talks for it not to be not true .
Martin is in the running ,there’s no one in Wilders camp denying it and no other fighter making headlines I believe Finkle hinted it as well . I also saw a video I forgot which one where someone in Martins camp said he was next for Wilder . That was the other week .
I thought I heard somewhere that wilder fired finkle. Have u heard anything about that?
I think ultimately both fighters will be allowed to continue on with their careers while that mess gets sorted out so yes hopefully Fury is able to go off and do Undisputed with AJ and Wilder can continue on with his career
Wilder sits as #1 by the WBC so he is in position for the shot at the Winner but likely after Usyk gets his WBO Mandatory Shot at the Undisputed Champ
So the Heavyweight Boxing World doesn't end after AJ vs Fury I and II it keeps going and you have Wilder, Usyk, Whyte, Joyce, Ortiz, Ruiz, Parker, Hrgovic, Hunter and others all wanting their shot. Not unless after Undisputed the winner retires! With Fury you just never know, Fury can just abruptly retire again if he wins the first fight against AJ he is that unpredictable :lol1:
Can't hold the Heavyweight Division Hostage because of your "FEELINGS" Wilder! He is still going to draw big in America, a fight vs Fury again and especially against AJ are still huge fights and big Paydays. Neither fighter can sell much here in American without Wilder as their Dance Partner because he is the only America Heavyweight worth the Price of Admission at the moment Sadly
So Yeah Lets Go! They ALL need to fight yes including AJ vs Wilder still! All these fights make BIG money so why in the hell would you not make those fights. Wilder vs Ruiz would still do very very well despite them both losing their Last Fights so the show must go on!

It is a high risk fight for Martin because he is N. 2 by IBF. Usyk will likely go WBO route, that means Martin is in a good position for IBF mandatory challenger, Wilder fight is totally illogical risk for him.
The Wilder fight would do much better ratings most likely. Fox is a larger network than ESPN and its not like most UFC Fight Night cards are stacked.
Eh I still want to see them head to head would either prove my theory or prove me wrong.
Let's see it go head to head with UFC fight night.

Maybe not in the UK but in the US, yeah he will still draw a lot of interest for his next fight because people are going to be curious to see WTF happens after he was defeated and embarrassed
However, it is some fans who kinda just want Wilder to GO AWAY I get that as well especially after all his BS Excuses.
That being said, if the Put Wilder of FOX or Showtime, he will still Draw Huge Ratings

He gives so many excuses that if he KO's Martin he will come up with an excuse as how Martin was trash when he Ko'd him, then he will realize he won and didn't have to give an excuse.
Haha! Lol gave me a laugh, Thankyou for that man!
He's a long way off the title road . If fury beats Joshua he's the grand canyon away because Fury wont fight him again and i doubt Hearn/Joshua will be in a hurry to deal with camp Wilder again.
If he was serious about being champ again he would have taken his medicine , assessed where it went wrong , kept his mouth shut and get the rematch on . Instead he told the world Fury spiked his water and beat him over the head with an egg timer .
I think the shows over for the bomber , his ego has a bigger dent than his head and once he realises how stupid his conspiracies sound he will die of embarrasment and vanish.
Its a shame , i liked his bombastic approach and his verbal diahorrea .
Very true. I like what you had to say. Sound advice.

This thread was not created to bash anything or anyone. It was to see if others had seen/heard similar.
As a proud American, I’ll often back my owns. But when deontay has behaved in the fashion he has, called out other names (none of which included Martin) and at one point in time, called Charles “Worse heavyweight champion in history” “ a stain on US Boxing” and an “Embarrassment”.
So to now do a full 360 and Enter talks to FIGHT Charles just begs the question, Does this fight put him back on the world title Road? People are allowed opinions on wether they agree or disagree.
I myself will watch with keen interest BUT aren’t too sure if Wilder wants Martin to Gain Confidence back which would hint that he’s ACCEPTED he wasn’t good enough last time out, or if he feels this is a great opponent to make an impact with. Many others seem confused too.
