Rounds 7 to 12: 5-1 Loma
All 3 cards were off, 2 of them by 100 miles ...
Please stop *****ing around and give us a rematch ...
Why? Loma didn’t want one.

I think if Loma starts early, it turns into a shootout. Loma doesn’t do that. I don’t think he has the stamina for that. Lopez being a fresh, young 20something has a lot more in the tank to do it. I believe that’s a huge reason why he didn’t do squat for the first six rounds, he was conserving his energy. Even going back to the Salido fight, he doesn’t seem like a guy willing to go to war.
In the Salido fight he was pacing himself because he never went so many rounds with an experienced fighter.
In the Lopez fight the size, power, speed, counterpunching ability and defense had Loma thinking too much.
Lomachenko won rounds 1-7 and round 12. Lopez won rounds 8-11. You can see this was the case if you watch the fight in slow motion on an LG, 4k, OLED, native 120hz, 77 inch tv. You must also calibrate the tv to a “cool” temp instead of “warm”. Brightness, backlight and contrast should be 60. But brightness could be 65. Tint at 0, and sharpness 0. Reduce judder and motion blur all the way, max it out. This creates motion interpolation which is needed to see the punches landed by Lomachenko that compubox didn’t count. Turn full array on. If your tv has a “black detail” option, max that out.
Before any of you reply, please go watch the fight under these exact conditions.
loma took the first half of the fight off while lopez built up a lead on points
you have to fuking throw and land to win rounds. hit and not be hit.
loma forgot the hit part
Scored the fight a draw and I haven’t changed my score since an I’ve watched it more than once!
Teo won the fight more off what Loma wasn’t doing and once Loma got doing what he needed to do, it was mostly Loma doing more damage!
If Loma starts attacking early he will take a chance to get caught early. That was the reason he started slow and was waiting to see if Lopez slowed down and figure him out. The twelfth round is indicative of what would had happened if he opened up early.
Lopez fought the fight that he had to and beat Loma. Why go into Loma's strength? The speed, size, power and counterpunching ability made Loma think too much for the first 7 rounds.

If you watch it in slow motion Loma probably won but he should have countered had he done that he would have won hands down
That was a great fight ... even with Loma's slow start. Kudos to Teofimo Lopez, lots of skills, serious heart, and he dug deep at the end. I think Loma wanted Lopez to tire (he did from 9 - 11), and Loma was being careful of that power in the early rounds. He probably had some ring rust too having been out so long.
He won the war from 8 - 11, but lost the 12th in one of the best 12th rounds in a long time. I had Lopez winning because he turned the tide during the 12th round war.
It would be a better fight in a rematch. I'd probably pick Loma to win but wouldn't be surprised at all if Lopez repeated. Lopez will definitely grow from that fight ... having been somewhat exposed in those later rounds. I'm sure he and his team are working to shore up some defense and offense because of those rounds.
Rematch will be a classic if held in the next 18 months.
Loma lost but Lopez did not win the fight by taking it to the champion at all. He played defensively the entire fight and when Loma finally opened up, he was tagging Lopez at will with combinations.
Lopez would lose if they rematched nearly immediately. If they ever do rematch again in the future, Loma's going to be over the hill and it wouldn't be the same than if he rematched him now.
Then when Lopez wins the rematch, his fans (I'm his fan but won't be saying this),will be saying see, Lopez clearly won the first and Loma would have never won a rematch. Oh well, that's the sport for you.
I think Loma was the one who fought defensively, especially in the first half of the fight. Teo won those rounds by landing straight rights to the body while Loma circled away. Lopez didn't press the action, but then again he didn't need to because Loma pretty much dug himself a six-round hole for no reason.
You mention when Loma "finally opened up" and that's the point. Loma took too long to get started and if one guy does a little (Teo) while the other guy does even less (Loma) then the guy who did a little more is gonna take the round.
He Lost...Get Over It! Still a great fighter and I would love to see him against the other fighters at 135 whom many seem relieved that he lost to Teofimo and want to ignore him like he is not still one of the best P4P today
This fight was so close and mainly because Loma started late. It’s not like Lopez did anything spectacular to win the title so it’s whatevers to me.
I dont really see Lopez as the main guy of the division. He got lucky.
Loma is still very dangerous. Infact, id love to see a rematch.
Me too but it will never happen. Lopez team already shot that idea down hard. They're happy to move on with belts in hand. It's basically like they got the keys to the bank handed over to them, why would they want to risk handing those keys back? All the potential money he can make now with those belts handy are well more viable than attempting to solidify a win over Loma that leaves no doubts. He knows what can happen in a rematch, felt those hits land like nobody had done before to him.

i'm not a loma fan but i saw he can dominate lopez. if he'd actually work his 1st half he would win the fight. i've never seen lopez got hit like that. too bad their game plan didn't work.
