Below 175 lbs.
I see too many posters saying that Alvarez will never fight so-and-so...then when he does, they say so-and-so was never any good anyway.
So let's see who is willing to go on the record and be held to their words.
The way Alvarez has moved up in weight has been impressive, but I think if he had taken on the best at 160 and dominated that division, maybe that would have been even more impressive.
The top guys at 160 include Golovkin, Andrade and Charlo. Also you've got young guys like Mungia and maybe Spence. To me dominating a division just looks better than moving up and picking and choosing the right guy.
All except Andrade and Spence.
Spence is too small.
Andrade who? He's a nobody. That would be a cherrypick for Canelo. He brings nothing new to the table. 160 title that he earned vs no one. No names on his resume. Canelo beating him will just have fans saying the obvious, that he lost the first time he stepped up to an elite and he was overhyped. They will destroy his resume, dissect it for the garbage it has in it. Rightfully so. But I just wish fans were less hindsight biased and call things like it is before they happen. Andrade is trash, got knocked down in his only semi-high profile fight in 2013, barely won. That was a long time ago. Hasn't fought anyone worth sh.t since then. Pulled out of Charlo fight in 2014.
I'd replace Spence and Andrade for Bivol and Beterbiev.
Good, solid post.
I think he'd deserve props for beating Andrade more based on Andrade bringing fvck all to the table.
No fans, no resume, ugly negative style.
Its more a fight I feel I'd be giving him props for because its one he doesn't have to take at all not because Andrade is so great or anything. Like God knows how good that guy even is. Says a lot to me when Liam Williams is deemed as a healthy step up
I'd give him respect for beating any of them apart from Spence (awesome fighter but weight classes for a reason).
Any of them would be decent wins but none would be great.
I'd give him more credit for beating Jermall Charlo than any of the others - Combination of his skillset, style, resume and momentum.
They're all certainly good but more of them are more they pass the eye-test than anything else.
Honestly...it is never ending just like it was for Mayweather! They beat one guy and the Idiot Fans and Media Jackasses who hate them will build up the next guy.
Now the Beterbiev Bandwagon is filling up quickly so it is just never ending that comes with the Territory when you're the Big Draw
It probably does come with the territory.

Very true.

I'd give him props for everyone except Spence right now. If Spence goes up and looks impressive then I'd give Canelo credit, but he needs a fight or so at the weight first

At 160-68
Andrade
Charlo
Benavidez
Plant
Sanders
175
Bivol
Beterbiev
He didn't want Andrade or Charlo at 154 or 160. He fought Liam Smith instead. He clearly took the weakest link in Kovalev at 175. He won't fight Bivol or Beterbiev unless they start slipping. He doesn't even mention Benavidez name and these are his toughest challenges. It is what it is.
All of the casuals will say Andrade isn't deserving or is not a challenge but people that truly know the sport think differently. His style and skills would cause major problems for Canelo and he knows it.
My man speaking the truth.
The Canelo fanboys know the truth, they know Andrade may beat him which is why they don't want that fight.
Us Bud fans, on the other hand, we want Bud to take fights he may lose. That's the difference between a fanboy and a fan of boxing.
Crawford gets way too much criticism on here - imo it is only because he has probably the two biggest fanbases against him - Canelo fans, and then PBC fans. They hate him for obvious reasons so embellish anything negative about him.
The dude is a talent that people should appreciate!!
Facts. The Bud hate is disgusting and is proof that most people are fanboys, not fans of the sport of boxing.
