Some highlights:
The initially scheduled rematch was called off because Alvarez tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
but the average sports fan has never heard of any of his prospective opponents other than Golovkin.
a fighter in his prime beating up on an old man.
His first major fight was against Shane Mosley, who was too small and too old. Miguel Cotto was too small. Amir Khan was too small and never as good as advertised. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. had his father’s name but nothing else. Kovalev was finished.
Alvarez has taken a number of legitimate gambles and deserves credit for that. But he was fortunate to be awarded victories over Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara, against whom he didn’t show well. He looked like an amateur against Floyd Mayweather
Well said, surprised the old media is being honest for once. Canelo's legacy is forever ruined. Not giving Lara a rematch or GGG the third fight will forever prevent him from becoming one of the all time greats. Remember what happened when people said Castillo and Maidana beat Floyd? He gave them the rematch and handled his business.
If this was their “coverage” of the fight and not an accompanying opinion piece then shame on the media outlet and the writer. In either case it appears nothing about Canelo or the sport of boxing could possibly satisfy him.— Al Bernstein (@AlBernstein) December 20, 2020
I don't add folks on the ignore list, but dam your avatar is straight up ugly
