Smith fights like his brothers. Same style but levels above. He dosen't use his reach or a good jab to keep his opponents at bay. He squares up comes forward and tries to time you with his counter left.
2nd he clearly lost to ryder a tough journeyman. No i'm not saying ryder is a bum. He's a glorified journeyman.
No smith is not the best at 168. Both ramirez and benavidez most likely beat him.
Canelo stops him with a body shot.
Lmaoo.. In what world is the Ring, WBA champ and the number 1 ranked SMW in the world a mismatch? Caleb Plant is gonna fight another bum on January and Benavidez got knocked down and was on the verge of getting stopped by Ronald Gavril. They're resume doesn't compare to Callum Smith.
Smith is a top legit contender but he has no chance.
I guess we’ll find out, this is his chance
I don’t write guys off on a close fight like the Ryder fight. Plenty of guys we actually have considered top fighters have had tough fights with people they weren’t suppose to.
Also all top elite fighters didn’t start there, they had to prove it in big fights. So we will find out what Smith is about.
There would’ve been plenty of people out there when Canelo was arguably losing to Lara and getting rocked by Cotto’s brother that there is no chance he was going to be one of the top fighters in the sport. you just never know until people get the big opportunities to prove themselves.
Good luck to Smith.
We shall see soon I guess. I never meant to say Callum is a bum. It's not a mismatch, but Smith is at least a few levels below Canelo.

Are you saying Cruz is a bigger bum?
cruz at 130? lol come on now. he had 1 fight there against a bum. he was nothing. just a name to trick people into thinking tank was fighting someone but in reality he was unranked at 130. aka a bum! tank wont even fight anyone ranked!
hes not a big enough bum that tank would fight him. i would describe him more as an untalented right place at the right time guy

You can look at that two ways though...
Callum actually does his best work at mid range too, where he is deceptively quick with short punches and can catch and counter. so far Canelo to get in range where he likes to work, he has still got to have to be in Smiths comfort zone too.
Don’t get me wrong, Canelo is a heavy favourite, but there a lot of people out there that think Smith is just some big lanky guy and don’t realise he fights really well up close. It could be interesting.
Smith is not Rocky Fielding 2, as we saw when Smith folded him in a round.
I don’t think it’s going to be as simple just as being able to tee off on Smith’s body. I think he’s good enough to not make it too easy to do that. Not to say Canelo won’t have his success doing that.

when one rocky fielding meets another rocky fielding, one of the rocky fieldings has to win and it happened to be the rocky fielding named callum smith. in reality they are indistinguishable
For me, it's the styles. Looking at Smith's height and long open body, I think Canelo will be super aggressive, and tee off on him. Callum doesn't use his height advantage effectively and isn't a defensive master either.
Not a mismatch.

I don’t get this whole mismatch thing
it’s not like Canelo is blowing opponents away in a few rounds. Most of his fights with decent fighters are competitive and some debatable decisions. pretty much any solid world level fighter is generally competitive with Canelo, so there’s no reason why Smith can’t be, even if he loses.

Did you read what he said? We are talking about Smith vs Canelo. Why do guys keep bringing up other fighters.
- Smith doesn't use his size.
- He fights in a shell.
This fight will be Canelo vs Chavez Jr 2.0. You guys are completely mislead. 168 is a weak division. If it wasn't, Canelo wouldn't be there.
Hahaha
Callum Smith might lose, but he ain't Chavez. I'm gonna look for you after the fight

- -U glorified punch bag?
Since Smith doesn't fight tall / use his reach advantage, he only has a puncher's chance. That's about it.
Mismatch: skill-wise yes, ranking-wise no, and it is generally the latter that counts when it comes to match-making.
Skill-wise there is at the moment no match for Canelo (absurdly enough, BJS may be the closest one) at 160-168.
I hope I’m wrong but you’ve got to think Canelo goes through him just as soon as he wants to.
There’s nothing in Smiths resume that suggests he should even be in the same ring with him frankly, a lot of people at putting a lot of faith in Smith’s size.....let’s hope he uses it well and has the fight of his life.
I think Callum is gonna be KO'd, but I wouldn't call it a mismatch.
To me idk that you can or should call any fight between top ten guys a mismatch. And both these guys are top ten.
Granted it could end up looking like a mismatch, but thats one of the things about boxing. The wins & loses are so conclusive sometimes when a KO happens or a guy 12-0's a guy that fans always can have that argument.
I will.
It's a mismatch.
