So according to the latest interview from Sulaiman, Wilder and Usyk don't want to fight at Bridgerweight. Also there current Cruiserweight champion would prefer to move down to 190lb and stay at Cruiserweight, and they can only rate 20 boxers in the division rather than 40.
Hopefully the WBO, WBA and IBF ignore this rather horrible division. Then maybe the WBC can be relegate to a paper belt and we go back to 3 main belts.
I think it is a really stupid idea that will fail soon and those new weight classes will be gone. If the WBA, WBO and IBF don't adopt these new weights how can it succeed?
That's what I've felt all along. Wilder has been a long time champion at HW, why would he care about winning belts at Bridger. Usyk cleaned up at CW, if he did the same at bridge he wouldn't really get any credit as there will be a much smaller talent pool and the best smaller HW's are not interested in fighting in the division, besides, Usyk is a top 10 HW, and he believes he can win a world title.
All bridge is going to be is C/D level small HW's moving down to try and win a cheap belt. Things that may happen are better names might come down after a couple of losses. Let's say Hunter loses to Hrgovic, then loses to Yoka, he might think he's out of the HW title picture and go down try and win the belt at bridge. But c'mon, that's not really making bridge a prestigious division. It's a terrible idea. Bellew saying it's great for the likes of Wilder to be able to move down. Why? Wilder can knock out any man that has ever lived on his day, as bad as he is technically.
