Pretty much. Tank will stay on the path of low risk/high reward...Farmer, GRJ, or some other name with no hope. He will wait until Teo has completely outgrown 135 and moved on to 140 to pretend he really wants the fight. Until then he just prices himself out. He could stay at 130. I think they were attaching tank’s name to Lopez name cuz he had buzz from beating loma. It was right after the loma fight that Floyd mentioned tank needing another fight before facing Lopez. Listen I think Tank is the “A” side but I disagree with you that it’s only about money. So much goes into what makes a fighter the A side. It’s another part of the psychological game. Everything from who’s name is in front of the others on the broadcast and posters, to ring entrances and order, to dibs on venue and dressing rooms, to even the gloves. Then it goes into the pockets...which promotional company is going to have to front more of the money and take less home, what percentage of the buys vs the other...etc etc. From the boxers perspective it’s about dominance. The guys at the top level usually don’t just like winning. They want to dominate. Mark their territory so to speak. The A side/B side is an extension of that mentality. That’s why you see these fighters start talking like promoters and managers once they reach a certain level in the game. I’d agree it’s definitely worse now than in the past. Unfair to talk gate money when Corona cancelled out a live audience for Teo/Loma. But that would just be for one fight, where everyone would agree that Lomachenko was still the bigger name. Lopez simply hasn't had chances to headline his own cards yet.

Huge draw gate wise. Teo is the man at 135 but he'd have to make that concession to get the Tank fight. With just 200k buys? Do you know the amount of fighters surpassing that number? Do you think Lopez can do 200k buys vs someone like LSC? If TR was confident that Lomachenko vs Lopez could do 200k buys, don't you think they put that fight on PPV? I mean this way, Lopez surely would earn more than the 1.5M he got for this fight. Lopez is only going to get bigger and bigger and beating Lomachenko and having all his belts certainly give him plenty of power in negotiations. He's still not a bigger name than Davis, but no reason he couldn't legitimately ask for a 55/45 split or something close to it. Lopez though has headlined ONE card in his career, while Davis was doing 2M gate against Gamboa, doing big numbers in Baltimore and California. This is not a knock on Lopez as he hasn't had the opportunity to headline yet. Even against Lomachenko that happened with no crowd and Lomachenko was still considered the top draw of the fight.
