Huge fan of watching Crawford, he’s even my P4P #1, but it feels like he’s given up hope of securing the big and legacy defining fights.
I’m getting the impression he’s content just getting paid for demolishing the likes of Brook and Khan.
Saying not fighting Spence won’t hurt his legacy is crazy talk IMO. It majorly hurts both their legacies if this fight never happens.
He’d basically just have the same problem at 154. All the big name guys are with PBC.
He’s way too small for 160 too tbh.
But the 154 guys at PBC will be more eager to fight him because Crawford would have to jump up to his 4th division. Charlo would probably love the chance to fight a smaller guy who is considered by many to be the #1 P4P fighter. That would be a big challenge for Crawford.
At this point the only thing he could do to try to fulfill that potential, imo, is to move up to 154 or 160 and try to become undisputed. I always thought he'd end up being Hagler 2.0. But he has enough money and apparently that is what confers boxing greatness any more.

Same here man, I think he has ATG potential but we’ll never find out if he’s only fighting these B/C level guys.

Agree 100%. Bud has been my favorite active fighter the last few years and is definitely in my upper tier p4p, but his career has ended up being a disappointment. He got rich and sat out his prime. I'm honestly bummed about it.

I think he is content to beat up guys who are not top contender and get paid top dollar for doing it. I think Porter would have fought him for not that much money and nobody would complain about him taking that fight.
Crawford is no spring chicken. I will bet you that when he tries to leave Arum will sue him and box him out for a few more months like he always does.
Only its a case of his contract expires, cant stop him from signing with anyone once that happens, different if TC was breaking contract and leaving but its not like that.

That runs out soon Im sure Haymon wll try to secure TC and that gives him access to all the best fights.

He signed with TR and TR doesn't play well with others.

I agree. It's ridiculous. The past couple of headlines simply talk about who he won't fight, and why it won't work out, or how it won't hurt his legacy, whatever. He's literally wasting his prime justifying fighting bums or has-beens.
I think he doesn't want to be in this "Needy" position for the duration of his career and would like to have options of his own and I think Jose Ramirez or Josh Taylor will be excellent options for him. Shawn Porter is #1 Mandatory by the WBO followed by Young Vergil Ortiz who like Teofimo Lopez just did vs Loma, likely feels he can do the same vs Crawford right now and with GBP looking for that next STAR to replace Canelo, they will have no choice but to speed track Ortiz now to be the new face of GBP
So Bud will start getting bigger fights and much tougher challenges, it is coming regardless if he stays with Top Rank or he does indeed become a Free Agent and is able to float around and work with whoever offers the most money and best fights like what Canelo is doing right now
He took the Timothy Bradley route
Sort of... Bradley has a huge fights against Pacquiao and Marquez though.
Crawford doesn’t have those same options under the TR banner.
Not really.
It doesn't hurt Spence's as much as it hurts Crawford's
If Spence moved up, fought, and beat GGG, Canelo, etc. then not fighting Crawford is irrelevant in his career.
While Crawford's best win is literally what? Postol? Crawford's career and legacy is lacking at that point. Crawford is pretty much peaked at 147. If he doesn't fight Spence. There's nothing more for him. He's not going to 154 to fight Charlo.
It wouldn’t necessarily ruin either’s legacy but it definitely hurts your legacy when you fail to fight a natural rival.
It’s like Bowe and Lewis we can never really look at their careers without wandering what would have happened if they fought as pro’s.
