There’s no way anyone on here is gonna convince me that Shawn Porter wouldn’t get KTFO once he tries to brawl with him.

Forrest also had the straighter and quicker shots, and Mayorga was able to lure him into a brawl and stop him. I agree that Trinidad and Delahoya would probably fair better than Forrest, but not guarantee they would beat a prime Mayorga. That's a good point, and it gets into some of the reasons why Forrest lost to Mayorga. Vernon Forrest obviously had the physical ability and skills to beat Mayorga, but he was caught in the first fight with the wrong tactics and fought too conservatively in the rematch. Trinidad on the other hand figured out that short compact punches in between Mayorga's haymakers was the way to beat go. Trinidad was also indefatigable and bigger than Mayorga. DLH and Cotto basically imitated Trinidad's plan, and Vargas tried but was too slow by then and unable to execute it. I think that if Mayorga would've come up the boxing ranks in this generation he would probably surprise one of our top welterweights the same way he did Forrest, but once the rest of the elite welterweights figure out how to fight him, he would have been defeated by most of them too.

I think this modern era would be more kind to him than yesteryears era: he went against some heavy hitters: odlh, Trinidad, Moseley, cotto, the late great Vernon Forrest. All those guys were superior welterweight s than today's version. Errol may be marred with injuries, Shawn porter is mad short, Crawford is tiny, Danny Garcia is very basic. Although I don't think Ricardo can come back, he's too old, too much of them lit cigarettes. But definitely a fun fantasy matchup.

And lmao @ the thought of Danny Garcia who never KO’d a prime welterweight, knocking out prime Mayorga who took Forrests best shots and laughed, one of the few who dropped and hurt Mosley.

I don't think prime Mayorga beats prime DLH & Trinidad. Their straighter & quicker punches would always trouble Mayorga. Forrest also had the straighter and quicker shots, and Mayorga was able to lure him into a brawl and stop him. Sorry. I made a mistake on Mayorga's record. He won the title from Forrest and beat Forrest in a rematch and then lost to Spinks.

Mayorga was a flash in the pan. He won the welterweight title and then lost it in his next fight to mediocre Spinks. After that he lost every big fight he had with top fighters. he was Koed by Mosley, Trinidad and Oscar. i don't agree he beats today's tough Porter and I think Spence and Crawford beat him. He had a good chin and a hard punch and the stamina of the chain smoker he was. he never took boxing seriously enough and he lacked heart. he started fast and then faded and lacked determination in the late rounds and that is when top fighters knocked him out. he was not bad but he was not very good in my opinion.

Mayorga had a very short window. Once he became champion and got money, he lost that drive and started to look like crap. The version that stopped six heads and Forrest would be tough for anyone to deal with.

Prime welterweight Mayorga had a great chin and no stamina issues, and could have even possibly beaten prime welterweight Delahoya, Trinidad, and Mosley. That loss to Spinks was also debatable if I remember correctly. People have forgotten that the hungry version of Mayorga was extremely dangerous. I think he beats most or all the welters today, steamrolling anyone who trades with him or making the rest run for 12 rounds I don't think prime Mayorga beats prime DLH & Trinidad.
