...they're cheapening their own brands and allowing for fighters to maintain or gain relevancy with or without them. The argument of a fighter avoiding another fighter by vacating a title doesn't hold as much steam as it used to either, especially when fighters can either defer to their advisor/promoter for all their career decisions or they can argue that the opponent's name is not as big as his game at that particular time, or they can simply say the fight is something they will like to make down the line or at another weight, etc.
I say let the sanctioning bodies continue as they're doing. After all, stars have been born by working their way up thr ranks and fighting for one of the many sanctioning body's titles. The fact is there are too many fighters around the world worthy to be ranked, who would simply get overlooked if there were only one title.
The WBA started as the NBA with Jack Dempsey back in the 1920s.
The WBC was started in the 1960s
The WBC is a continuation of the NYSAC title which started in 1922 I believe.
The WBA has ruined all of its prestige by having three belts in each weight class.
And the NYSAC belt became the WBC I believe, which makes it older.

You're obviously from a country where "the action is"
Doesn’t matter where you are from, if Europe is hot you fight in Europe, US where ever...
You don’t deserve to be a champion unless you are the best at what you do, you can only have one, you can’t have 4 of the best, it makes no sense no matter how you try and dress it up and justify it.
What about the countries where great boxers don't get exposure?
Well you pack a bag and fight where the action is, that’s not an excuse to have 4 champs.
Fighters need stand together and start REJECTING and Boycotting these Belts! Save your damn money, stop paying all these Fees that are a waste of money and are doing nothing for you and your career
Another thing Multiple Belts are doing is giving Fighters Options and allowing them to pick and choose which belt they want to pursue and a lot of them are taking the easiest Path to a Belt
One way Belt Organizations can redeem themselves, TOURNAMENTS! Stop selling off Rankings to the highest Bidder and start making Top 10 Contenders actually fight each other in Eliminators and truly EARN their Mandatory instead of us getting stuck watching a Champion forced to defend his Belt against some Awful Unworthy Mandatory that not even Hardcore Boxing Fans Ever Heard Of

WBA is too shy to add WEAK WBA title along with REGULAR and SUPER belts. they could also add the Ultimate belt. or platinum belt. so people don't really get confused.
no.. its not enough.. they should add more belts like
intercontinental champion
Universal Champion
Tag Team Champions
NXT Champion
24/7 Champion
smackdown champion
royal rumble champion...
The WBA is the oldest one that goes back to Jack Dempsy

IBF is the only one that's actually in the USA, why are they getting shafted with those countries? The WBA should get punished and have to deal with the countries that produce the fewest boxers.

Once the big names are gone I think the sport will dry up, I honestly hope it goes bust just so it can be built back up and ran properly... how anyone can argue having 4 champs in a division is a good thing is beyond me
What about the countries where great boxers don't get exposure?
I agree. The orgs devalue their own belts with their decisions.
But it doesn't seem to impact most fans. People on here will still tell you that the WBC belt is the most prestigious. Even when they rig mandatories and announce franchise champions.
As you mention, it gives more fighters a chance. So fighters and promoters both love it.
The orgs are obviously happy making their money.
So the only group negatively affected is the fans. And they don't really care. So it won't change. In fact, it will get worse.

You know that might be a decent idea.
Let the WBA have North America
Let the WBC have South America & The Carribbean
Let the WBO have Europe & Asia
Let the IBF have Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania.
Then the 4 champions fight into determine 1 champ, who would be the Ring/Lineal champ.
Then, once the fighter is a lineal/Ring champ, the belts he held would go to the interim champ
Say now Teofimo Lopez holds all four belts so, the he's the REAL lineal/Ring champ
Now, let his other 4 belts he held, go be defended by the interim champs in their respective parts of the world until they all meet at the end of the year to determine who will fight the real champ Teofimo Lopez.
Now, this isn't ideal, but it at least makes some sense.
1 belt for each part of the world
World champs fight each other for the right to be the Ring/Lineal champ.
I could actually explain this to my chick and have her understand it :lol1:

Hey, BoxingScene Publishers and Owners. In this era of BELTS for every reason, what about a BOXINGSCENE BELT for the Most Venerable, and most Long Term continuous member on your roster.
I could add that since I'm losing weight, my pants need cinching...but.....I may bot qualify.
Each sanctioning body should concentrate on a quarter of the world. Eventually there are two matchups for the two semi finalist and one matchup for the finalist and so the real champion is determined.

No need to cry out for sanctioning bodies to limit the amount of belts.. | BoxingScene Community
